Hotel la Maggioressa

Lovely family run place. Franz was great and willing to offer any advice on how to get around and where to see. We loved having the thermal pool which was great even in the heat and the dinner at the hotel was one of my favourite on the island.

This is such a wonderful little family-run hotel and guesthouse. Franz, Lisa and the rest of his family are the most welcoming, warm hosts, attentive to all their guests and with plenty of advice and tips for what to see on Ischia. They are incredible. The hotel itself is charming and unpretentious, like an old-fashioned guesthouse, with small terraces and balconies draped in climbing plants and flowers. There is a thermal hot-spring swimming pool in the courtyard, which very relaxing after a day out. The rooms are simple, a bit dated but very clean, with air-conditioning. We had a double room with a spacious terrace overlooking the pool with mountains on one side and the sea on the other. There are single rooms for solo travellers. They are also dog-friendly which is really appreciated, and there is a resident cat called Joe who is clearly the real boss of the hotel 😊. We had a car and street parking was easy to find. The breakfast buffet included fruit, Italian cake, yogurt, cheese and ham and great coffee. The hotel also offers a delicious home-made dinner for guests every night with fresh seafood, salad, and more - this is totally worth adding to your stay at least once. It is about 10-15 minutes walk to Casamicciola port, where there are some restaurants and bars, and a couple of small beaches. We intended to spend only a couple of days and ended up extending our stay because of the fantastic atmosphere. We really want to come back.

Every aspect of this hotel was sublime. I expected to have a wonderful stay but the staff and quality of the space exceeded my expectations. I was remote working and was able to access internet all throughout the property which meant I could even work on my front porch without fail. The hotel managers were warm and inviting and truly made you feal at ease. They were friendly and helpful and made it seem like you were staying with friends. The amenities were unreal, endless outdoor porches and lounging space, beautiful flora, and a warm spa like pool to relax after a long day. The hotel is a short distance from a local beach and was nice to stay on a quiet street. There is a bar/restaurant on the bottom floor that you can ask to attend everyday. The food was fantastic and the value was unbelievable. I extended my stay an extra day, I only wish I could have stayed longer. Truly felt like I was at home from the moment I stepped onto the property.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel. Perfect!
