This is really a hostel, not a hotel.
We spent a pleasant week here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable enough, the location excellent and the staff are friendly and kind. But all things considered, it doesn’t feel like anyone makes much of an effort to make this a great place to stay. It’s beach front location is its saving grace but I can’t find much else to recommend it. It could be shabby chic, it could be charming and atmospheric (other very basic places felt atmospheric) but as it is it just felt unloved, and after having had a good look around Zipolite, I believe you can do better at this price point, and also for less money.
THE GOOD
All staff were friendly and kind.
Great location - right on the beach and on the main street - literally a stroll from everything.
Very good air conditioning.
Spacious room.
Good to have a fridge in the room.
Bathrooms finished with attactive stone.
Very nice pool and water at a very pleasant temperature (some other pools we tried in much fancier places were freezing).
THE NOT SO GOOD
Just needs a bit of love, things that wouldn’t be hard to do could perhaps transform it into shabby chic rather than just feeling a bit shabby. For example some beautiful plants separating the pool area from a car park, or on a practical level a couple of hooks in the bathroom to hang towels on, or some bedside lamps that would offer attractive mood lighting rather than the ugly and harsh overhead lighting. Silly details made it look uncared for like the shambolic understairs service cupboard being left open all the time, or the room cleaning trolley just left all day along the corridor, or the cheap plastic washing up bowls dotted here and there to rinse the sand off your feet after walking along the beach.
Needs a shelf in the bathroom as there wasn’t really much space to put anything.
Bed linens ok but past their prime, a bit yellowed and the odd stains here and there. Towels very old, some are yellowed, and frayed with little stains.
No beach towels provided.
No daily room cleaning unless you ask for it.
Cleanliness in general ok.
WiFi in rooms very poor. Comes and goes and extremely unreliable. Sometimes ok, most times poor. Forget streaming. Works better outdoors (but even outdoors it’s variable and can be rubbish). Every two days you have to change your log in and you have to go to reception to get a slip of paper with a new log in - it really was all just a bit too painful.
No bar or any kind of food/snack service (by contrast even the hostel next door has a beach bar and food service).
Given the beach front location I found it odd that there isn’t much furniture to use on the beach, and what little furniture there is was tatty and poor quality. Once again the hostel next door offered much better beach furniture.

The location, staff and rooms make this hotel the perfect place to stay in Zipolite.
We have been to this hotel three times and we love it more each time. The location could not be better – one end is the beach and one end is the street. The rooms are air-conditioned and comfortable and Rodrigo and the staff is beyond wonderful. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and it is the only place we would stay in Zipolite. Unfortunately the pool is being redone right now so we did not have a pool, but it is going to be a beautiful pool in the next couple of weeks. We will enjoy it when we come back.
There is absolutely nothing I didn’t like – the pool would’ve been lovely, but that was our bad timing. There are no negatives to this hotel at all.

Clean, comfortable hotel, great location
The room was close to the ocean and we could hear the waves. The shower was great and the fan and AC were perfect. The pool area was clean and comfortable.
The wifi wasn't very strong in the room but was much better in front of the beach.

Perfect location, great rates, great hotel!!
The rooms were a good size for 3 people - 2 double beds and lots of plugs. Air conditioner worked great plus additional fans to help with the 30+ degree weather. Bathroom looked newly renovated with shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. Toilet was in great working order - it's hard to find that in Zipolite. The hotel itself is in a perfect location - right in the centre of town and right on the beach. There is also a cafe right beside the hotel that serves great americanos. There is also a patio/balcony area available if you want to be on the beach but under shade. There is also a heated pool if you don't want to get sandy. The owners were lovely and very accommodating. I needed some help dealing with booking.com regarding an issue and they were more than helpful and patient. Would DEFINITELY stay here again!
The entire block lost power for one night so we had to sleep in the heat but that is not the hotel's fault. Aside from that, no complaints!

Nightmare… hotel was not clean, shower wasn’t working. Mini fridge was rusty and dirty. undergoing a major renovation which had demolition work starting at 7:30.
Party people making noise early morning and no staff to keep order and quiet hours.
We requested a discount based on the issues and did not got one. It is an expensive place compared to other propierties
Avoid at all costs and use San Cristobal hotel instead

It's right by the beach and well located for a stroll down the main lane. It has a fridge and a big TV.
We only got one towel (we were 3 people) and no soap. The pool didn't look very clean and the chemicals were applied while my daughter was swimming. They should have just asked her to step out for 10 min or done it a bit later. The bathroom could use reconstructing. If you need internet, the connection is not great.

Dismal experience with front desk. We initially reserved a room for 4 people, but later decided to book two rooms for two people each instead. The rooms are all the same, they accommodate up to 4 people, but they are cheaper if you book for 2. We wrote to the hotel through Booking to notify of the change well before the allowed cancellation date, but they never responded, and once we arrived the reception guy told us we would have to pay the initial rate, and kept telling us we had to sort this out through Booking, while Booking told us we had to sort it out with the hotel. The problem was not solved and we had to pay the 4 people rate.

Basic hotel with rooms/bathrooms that need updating, but great for a short stay in Zipolite. Location is perfect, right on the beach and in the centre of town and the pool is super nice for cooling off. Air con appreciated too. Would recommend!

Exceptional
This spot was so perfect that we have already made reservations to come back for New Years Eve. There are a couple of rooms of with snowbirds from Canada that stay for several months, they were a pleasure to meet and hang out with. Rooms were clean, the staff was friendly. Our rental car had a safe spot. The beach is on one side and then the small tourist strip on the other. All the places we went to eat were really good. The hotel has umbrellas and chairs for you to use. The wifi is unpredictable but that's normal for a beach hotel. On the first floor the rooms have hammocks. it was incredibly quiet.
