An amazing view of Amalfi. Excellent hostess who was very helpful, met us at unsociable hours to let us in and even did some shopping for us to receive on arrival. And a bounty of Lemons falling from the tree growing over the trellis in the back if you can find a use for them!

Potential tenants need to be aware of the steep access to the property. I had a minimum filter when searching for the property - pool, free wi-fi and parking for the car hire. The pool was great. However, we only had working wi-if for one evening in the whole week - bear that in mind if you have teenagers as I did! But the big one is the access - parking for it is at least 400-500m up a very steep incline and multiple steps to the nearest roadside parking spot (if you can find a space - the climb could be even further). If you are a very fit hiker and have come specifically for that sort of thing then great, but if you have a dodgy ankle say then it is something you should be aware of - I was a hot sweaty mess every time I got to the car when going out for dinner say! And that is before consideration to say bring shopping to the villa, or even more critically your suitcases. We were strong enough to take our suitcases down but needed to hire a local mule to take the suitcases back up the steep hill to the car when departing (which Carmella helped us to arrange to be fair). Something to consider before you book.

We loved our time at Lo Smeraldo. The house was spotlessly clean and well appointed with everything we needed. The views are spectacular. There was a house clean and full linen change during our stay which we really appreciated. Lorenzo and his wife Louisa were very warm and welcoming to us. The garden and pool are lovely. The lemon grove was especially our favourite and.the smell from the flowers was intoxicating. While there are many steps and sloping path from the road to the house, we enjoyed the challenge of walking it and our fitness improved alot. Just bear this in mind when planning shopping and pulling your luggage - Dont overpack!! The local village is about a 2k walk, with very nice dining options, Da Pietro a favourite. I highly recommend this villa if you are looking for a peaceful, authentic Itlian holiday.

„Die Unterkunft war wunderschön! Besonders gefallen hat uns die traumhafte Terrasse mit schattenspendenden Zitronenbäumen – herrlich zum Entspannen. Der private Pool war toll, ebenso wie der atemberaubende Ausblick von der Wohnung hinunter auf Amalfi und das Meer. Alles war sehr sauber und modern eingerichtet. Insgesamt sehr komfortabel.“

Es gab nichts, was uns ernsthaft gestört hätte. Die Lage ist – typisch für die Amalfiküste – zugleich ein großer Pluspunkt und eine kleine Herausforderung: Wunderschön ruhig mit spektakulären Ausblicken, aber die Unterkunft ist nur zu Fuß über einen schmalen Weg mit vielen Treppenstufen und einigen Steigungen erreichbar. Auch zur nächsten Bushaltestelle oder zum Supermarkt muss man ein gutes Stück laufen.

This place is Heaven on earth - it looks better than the photos and description and Carmela was so communicative, lovely & helpful. Set in a stunning 12th century hamlet set in gorgeous hills above Amalfi. Taxis are hard to get so recommend renting a car if you can. Amalfi is a 30 minute drive where you can also get ferries to Capri, Positano etc., and there are lovely villages along the way. Can't wait to come back again and I highly recommend this incredible property and staff! Grazie Carmela!
