Abrigo das Nortadas

Well, first of all, its location was both a very sweet surprise and a little inconvenient. I was walking the Fishermans Trail. It had been a very long day. I was exhausted and didn't feel like taking another step, but knew I still had a few kilometers left before getting to town. I stopped at the junction of the trail and the asphalt road I had come to and plugged my lodging address into my GPS. It said I was standing at the driveway of Abrigo das Nortadas! I was in disbelief, but it was true. I didn't have to walk the remaining kilometers into town! I was over-joyed. Jose came out to greet me at the gate. The distance from town might have been more of an inconvenience if Jose hadn't been so kind as to drive me into town that night so I could get dinner and directed me to a great restaurant. Jose also took me back to town the next morning to the trailhead to start walking again. Maybe it's cheating, but I never had to walk that asphalt stretch! The home was spacious with a maritime motif. The kitchen was also spacious and had everything. Jose and his wife lived in an attached, but separate apartment. For an out-of-town location, it was lovely and quiet. I was solo, but Abrigo das Nortadas could easily accommodate a larger party.

The most comfortable night we had hiking the fisherman’s trail. Slept sooo well here!!!! Lidia and Jose were such thoughtful hosts and the hostel had everything we needed, plus they were always available to help :) Muito obrigada to Abrigo das Nortadas!!!

The walk to vila do bispo is a little long but it’s very pleasant
