About this cabin rental
Our Cabins are steps away from Lake Colby. Enjoy our dock and our Private Beach on Lake Colby, along with 2 rowboats, 3 adult and one child kayaks and 3 canoes for guests' use. Each cabin is approximately 25 feet from the next, with trees separating them. These cabins are equipped with the comforts and amenities to help our guests enjoy Lake Colby and Saranac Lake any time of the year and are kept cozy with our Vermont Castings stoves. Ductless AC and Heat help create a comfortable environment year-round.
The 4 Cabins are as follows:
-Moose: 2 Queen Bedrooms, 1 Queen sleeper sofa, 2 full bathrooms, 1 jacuzzi tub in bathroom
-Bear: 2 Queen Bedrooms, 1 Queen sleeper sofa, 1 full bathroom
-Loon: 1 Queen Bedroom, 1 Twin Daybed with Trundle, 1 full bathroom
-Fish: 1 Queen Bedroom, 1 Queen sleeper sofa, 1 full bathroom, 1 full bathroom
All 4 cabins have kitchens, a gas fireplace , an outdoor firepit with Adirondack chairs, a charcoal grill and a picnic table. All cabins are fully stocked with silverware, dishes, pots, pans and coffee pots, microwave, stove and fridge. Clean linens and bath towels are provided. Beach towels are provided in the summer.
Enjoy roasting marshmallows while watching the sun set. Lake Colby is known for its excellent fishing of rainbow and brown trout, salmon, and largemouth and smallmouth bass. Life vests are located in each cabin closet. Maximum 10 hp motors can be used on this lake. Boating is available with our boats on Lake Colby between May1st and October 31st unless water temperatures are unsafe.
Lake Colby is part of the greater Saranac Lake Community, which offers many tourist attractions, including hiking, snow skiing, zip lines, golf, and amazing food. This cabin is also a two-minute walk to the public beach and a one-minute drive to the boat launch.
The Village of Saranac Lake is less than a 5 minute drive from the cabins and boasts wonderful Eateries, Pubs and Coffee Shops. Colby Cabins are a 2 minute drive from Mt. Pisgah where the whole family can enjoy downhill skiing, tubing and snow boarding on lit trails. Saranac Lake is surrounded by some of the most scenic hiking trails on the East Coast.
If you're looking for a motorboat experience in addition, local marinas rent a variety of motor boats. Feel free to inquire for more details.
Lake Placid is a 20 minute drive from our cabins and offers a variety of shopping and eateries as well.
Whiteface is a 45 minute drive from the cabins.
Let us know if you wish to book one, two or three or four cabins. We rent all 4 cabins together Saturday to Saturday from the third week of June through the last week of August.
Internet speed is 400 Mbps download, 10 Mbps upload.
We welcome dogs less than 80 lbs. We have a pet fee of $100 per pet with one pet maximum per cabin. Pets must be cleaned up after returning from outside and crated if left alone in the cabin. Kindly share the breed with us when booking.
Cameras are used outside the property for security purposes. There are no cameras inside the premises.

Our families had a wonderful time at Colby Lake. It was great to all be together yet 3 families all had their own cabins. Cabins had everything you needed even coffee grinders. The beach and all the boats provided kept the kids busy. Many small mouth bass were caught in the lake. Everyone enjoyed the campfire at night and eating outside.

This is our second time staying, but this time our extended family rented all four cabins. Ideal location with a beach and shallow water for the 7 kids ranging in age from 1.5 to 13. The location is also within wakking distance to the public beach, again, ideal for families with small children. We had everything we needed and the kids could run around freely without having to worry, it was like being on your own little island.

Overall we had a really pleasant stay at this property - definitely some pros and cons to weigh when considering whether it's right for you. Having the four cabins for our multi-generational get together was amazing - being together, but still having some privacy was fantastic and is absolutely the biggest selling point. The little private sandy beach right there is also so great for little kids to play in all day. The big con though is the very busy major road. We had read about it in other reviews and I somehow imagined it to be just a 35mph car busy, but it's trucks, ambulances, etc going 50mph. There's a hospital, car dealership and big National Grid facility all in view from the beach. The convenience to town is really nice, so I would consider this a house near town that happens to be on a lake, rather than vice versa. It is absolutely not a secluded peaceful lake retreat. Cabins were pretty clean - linens and hard surfaces all felt like they get cleaned regularly. They could use a deep clean for things like dusty ceiling fans, cobweb corners, etc - but for a cabin type stay I'd say these were cleaner than most. Well kitted out with kitchen utensils, plates, etc. The crib was really handy for our one year old - though they are absolutely not baby proofed in any other way! (I didn't expect them to be, but just FYI). If it weren't for the road this would be a 10/10 - a great property, but make sure you have accurate expecations about the setting.

Such a nice place to stay with family. Suggestions: better lighting. Cabins very dark. Also maybe work on mustiness of some cabins. We understand cabins in the woods can get musty but maybe some deodorizer will help. Other than that, great time had by all. Would definitely recommend this for family gatherings.
