About this villa rental

The house is part of a historical estate dating back to the 17th Century. Records show that Garibaldi the italian national hero stayed here in 1846 retreating from the defeat at the hand of Napoleon III army of the short lived democratic adventure of the Roman Republic.

The house has gone through renovation in 2013 at the hand of 2 artists and now boasts a 18 mt infinity pool, al fresco dining area with barbecue, hammocks, foosball.

Our estate lies nestled in the hill opposite Todi with gorgeous views over the valley and the medieval town.

The house you will be renting is 150 sq meters and is composed of 3 bedrooms, one big kitchen with fireplace and a living room.

Children can enjoy a big playground area in the shape of a viking ship with a towers with steering wheel, periscope, a sandbox, slide, swing...

You will reach the house driving on a private road bordered with secular trees (one certified being over 500 years old).

The property includes a 30 hectares wood that covers half of the hill which makes for great walks and mountain bike rides in the nature; you will find water creeks, wild plants and a medieval tower that lays on top of the hill.

There is a farming ground along with a olive groove from where every autumn we make olive oil..

Umbria is the hidden gem in central Italy and only recently has been discovered by upmarket tourism.

Todi is a gem of its own, built in 1200 and surrounded by a wall dating to 14th Century has not changed ever since, it is a charming well-preserved medieval town sitting on top of a hill with spellbinding views of green rolling hills with vineyards, olive groves and cypress lined roads.

Our property sits in the most exclusive hill of the area, with magnificent views over the valley and just 10 min (7 km) drive away from the town.

Todi has 20.000 inhabitants and you can find at its foothill large supermarkets, pharmacies,
ATM and any service from a medium sized town.

There are plenty of extremely good restaurants, as an example Vissani restaurant, repeatedly named the best restaurant in Italy is 20 min drive.

Some of the best wines are produced within 100 km. Do check wine tasting and cooking classes within 20 min drive, in the old fortress in town or in old rural houses.

You can hire horses to ride through our property.

There is a 165 metres waterfall 45 minutes drive away, Cascata delle Marmore made during the Roman Empire in 271 AC.

Children can enjoy the biggest italian centre for treatment and reintroduction of confiscated endangered species, it spreads over 125 hectars and is 20 min away, Centro di Recupero Fauna Selvatica Formichella.
Assisi with its UNESCO world heritage sanctuary of San Francis is just 50 km away.

You will need a car to get around.
You will be received by a person who speaks some english and italian. She will introduce you to the house and the area, give you a map and directions. And will provide information on local markets, village fairs and outdoor activities.

The property is absolutely amazing! Totally privat but still only 15 minutes away from a supermarket where they have whatever you desire in foods, being fresh truffles, homemade pesto or wonderful local wine. The town of Todi is also only 15 minutes away, the ice cream bar in the centre serves the best Italian ice cream!!! The house is wonderful, the redecoration of this ancient house is done in a delicate way. We did not miss aircondition even though it was close to 35C during our stay, the house cooled down in the evening and we had no problem with sleeping. The property is outstanding, it is surrounded buy a beautiful forest, perfect for a morning run. The pool is absolutely amazing, you have to see it to believe it!! A stunning view over the hills of Umbria, it also has a bit of a breeze through the day so it never becomes too hot (which can be a problem for a Norwegian...) Fabio, thank you for a wonderful stay, we would love to come back! P.S. Your "stand in" was so nice to us and made our stay even better. Best regards, Eirik, Margrethe, Selma and Hanna

After an epic drive from Northern Italy, and some very useful directions from Fabio, we arrived bang on time at the house. Riccardo - wonderful host throughout our stay - greeted us, showed us round the property, and also handed over a box of local delicacies. Lovely way to be welcomed. The villa itself is ultra tasteful, full of all the mod cons you could want, and also has a brilliant pool area with views stretching miles across the local countryside. Its also worthwhile heading down the track nearby to the medieval bridge and unspoilt Umbrian countryside. Our kids - 7 and 4 - and ourselves loved our stay, and would highly recommended the villa and local area. Only things to watch out for are the roads up to the house (our car only just survived them!) and the lack of aircon, although the spacious airy rooms meant none of us suffered even though temperatures we regularly north of 30 degrees C.
