Charming & Stylish Studio on Beacon Hill #9

The building is located on a quiet and peaceful street with a sweet little park just outside the door. The whole building is guest suites, basically a self-check-in efficiency hotel. Even though there is no host on-site, they are very responsive to messages. It was easy to find the place and to get in with the door codes provided. The stairways and halls were all super clean and brightly lit. The room and bathroom were similarly sparkling. There were plenty of towels and more toiletries than I could use in three days, and a good, hot shower. The kitchen had most of the basics needed to prepare food, as well as cabinet space for groceries. I was able to control the room temperature with the mini-split and windows that open wide at the top and bottom. The bed was comfortable, with ample pillows of different thicknesses. There was a closet for me to put away clothing. The location was walkable to a Whole Foods and some restaurants as well as Boston Common and the attractions of the North End and waterfront. I felt comfortable and happy with my stay.

The down sides were small and didn't hugely affect my comfort, but I'll mention them so future guests know what's what. There were some notable omissions from the kitchen: dish detergent and a sponge (which were brought by housekeeping in the morning at my request), coffee filters (which I bought at a nearby CVS and left behind for the next guest; I think they don't bother with filters because they provide coffee bags (like tea bags), but I'm particular about my coffee), and a cutting board (I was pretty stunned when they affirmed that I should chop right on the lovely marble countertop). There's no kettle, so if you're a tea drinker you'll need to either run the water through the empty coffee maker or boil water in the pot on the stovetop. Though the location is walkable, it is a little removed from attractions, situated at the top of a hill in an area of government buildings. The bed was pretty comfortable, but it sagged at the head end. Since I'm short, it worked out okay for me to scoot my pillow down a foot or so, but that might not work so well for a taller person. It might work for them to rotate the mattress so that the bottom end is at the top. The garbage truck comes in the wee hours and is very loud. (Though earplugs are provided, I otherwise didn't need them.) Overall, this was a nice place, but a little pricey, given its limitations.

Perfect location. Easy online check in /communication about door codes etc. Box fan in the room was clutch!

Bed was a little soft and uncomfortable for my liking.
