A farmhouse in Tuscany for holidays and retreats

La Rocchina is a mountain farmhouse in Tuscany, Italy, 10 km from the medieval city of Pistoia, which is half way between Florence and Lucca and was named Cultural Capital of Italy 2017. This idyllic, secluded house was recently restored and is a perfect hide-away for holidays, gatherings and retreats. La Rocchina sleeps 6-7 people in three bedrooms and is available from April-November.

La Rocchina is one of three houses in a chestnut forest above the small hill town of Baggio. Getting there requires a 7-10 minute walk up a stone mule path from the end of the paved road (where you can park) or a 20 minute walk from the village bus stop. Guests should be reasonably fit and comfortable walking on uneven ground. Luggage and groceries are transported by 4WD on arrival and departure day.

The house is self-catering and has the following amenities:

Pure spring-fed water supply – no bottled water needed
All linens, towels and bedding provided
Removable screens fitted on all windows
Outside piazza and stone terrace with eating area
No TV or landline, but reasonably good mobile phone signal
Free WiFi – 20 mbps
No outside fires in summer due to fire hazard

No smoking inside house
Firewood €5.00/box (for inside fires)

Groceries, wine etc. can be ordered and stocked in advance of arrival. we live just 50m down the hill and are available to answer questions or give advice about the area.

Comune of Pistoia tourist tax is payable in cash on arrival. Eur 1,00 per person per night, up to Eur 5,00 maximum per person.
