A few improvements required to match the price point

We stayed as a family, 6 adults and 2 Children. Overall, the house was fine for our stay. It is a lovely big space with lots of room to gather and sit together, only a few minutes walk from Portree. A few nice touches like wood for the fire and Arran toiletries,

There are many things that could be improved to make this feel like a luxury stay to match the luxury price point. The beds all need updating, some of the mattresses are passable but others you can feel the springs and are incredibly uncomfortable. The bed frames themselves are so loud, if you move a muscle the sounds are terrible. The sofa is dated and is difficult to get out of, we were travelling with an 87 year old who couldn't sit on the sofa without someone lifting her out of it. There is a serious lack of storage, we stayed for 3 nights but had to live out of our suitcases, only one room had a wardrobe with a few hangers but two other rooms didn't have a single place to store clothes despite the amount of space in the room itself, this seems like a real basic requirement that's totally missed here. The kitchen also doesn't have an empty cupboard space to store dry foods. for 3 days wasn't much of an issue, we kept everything on the worktop but not great. The driveway and garden is overlooked and overgrown, it really lets the property down. The door is difficult to lock, we spent sometimes over 5 minutes trying to lock it properly.

Amazing Views!

The location is great! You're at the top of the hill in Portree, so it's a steep but short walk to town. I saw elderly ladies doing it, so you can also! There plenty of parking and the convenience store is right at the bottom of the hill. The view is the best part. You look out onto Skye Bay and at the Isle of Raasay. It is truly amazing. There's a nice deck and a picnic table to have your coffee or afternoon scotch. There are 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (three with a shower.) The one in the upstairs master bedroom is open and could use a curtain or something- a little strange. Everything is clean and functional. We forgot a bag there and the person checking on the property called me about it. She met us halfway to return the bag which was SUPER NICE! Great service there. Plenty of towels. I would definitely come back.

The upstairs bedrooms had nice beds but the ones downstairs had cheap metal frames that you could hear squeak if you so much as lifted your head. They need to be upgraded. Kitchen facilities are good but there are limited cooking supplies- oil and vinegar. They give you some instant coffee or you need to go out and buy ground coffee for the French press. In this day and age, a pod coffeemaker would be expected at these prices.

Perfect space for our family of 5.

The house was large and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the view was great. There was a large driveway to park in. We appreciated the easy to use washer and dryer. It was so easy to walk into Portree which was a big bonus because parking was a little challenging.

There were a few little quirky things. The door was difficult to lock. I couldn't figure out the towel heaters or the heat in the house. It was cool downstairs and hot upstairs. You couldn't open the window because there were lots of biting little bugs. One of the upstairs rooms didn't have a a shower (Just a big tub in the room) and there was no door to the toilet, by design.

Good but needs some improvements

The location was excellent close to the centre of Portree. Large sitting area with lovely views. Plenty of bathrooms and a washing machine and dryer are very handy. Shower gel and other toiletries provided. Very quiet area with free parking.

Instructions for appliances would be helpful. Bedrooms have a lack of wardrobe space and generally storage space throughout was lacking. The kitchen needs more cooking facilities such as pizza cutter, fish slice, wooden spoons, baking trays etc. Some of the pans were covered in grease. There was no scourer to clean any utensils, only a very thin jay cloth which wasn't adequate for 4 days. The sitting area was large but there was no coffee table or side tables to put anything down. A clothes airer would be useful. One bedroom with open toilet was a bit strange and could do with some sort of barrier. We expected more for the rates we paid.

Everything indoor was spotless clean. Facilities are good. Just the cooking pans are all stick and it was a pain to cook even fried egg. The back yard needs cleaning.

Lovely spacious house with excellent views and well located for access to Portree.

Brilliant location, lovely views, lots of space and plenty of bathrooms plus washer and dryer very handy with a family.

We had some minor glitches in the kitchen but the lady looking after us was super responsive and helpful to fix issues. I think the kitchen could do with some more basics for a family stay who might eat in more eg pizza cutter, wooden spoons, we asked for a grater and it was provided however.

Perfect Place to Stay While you Explore Skye

Everything was amazing. The location is absolutely stunning and less than a 5 minute walk to the town centre. There's plenty of room and all of the amenities were great and perfect for a week long stay. The staff were also amazing - if there was any issue they could be contacted and were straight onto it to make sure the stay was as good is it possibly could be.

There is nothing negative at all that can be said about this place.

Ideal stay in this perfect place!

Perfect location for a walk in town and in the bay. Portree is central to go to any visiting sites : Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, Talisker,… The house was ideal for our group of 8! Maybe one of the best place we have stayed so far!!

Great house conversion to large dining/sitting room ideal for large holiday group. Quiet and fantastic view of Portree bay and only 2 minutes walk into shopping/pub area.

Style over substance. Bedrooms have no wardrobe and some have no furniture with drawers either so you will live out of a suitcase. Almost no storage in kitchen either would be a problem if stay more than a few days. Bath in bedroom looks flash but no shower attachment and plug doesn't hold water! No instructions at property or in email for oven, extractor fan, condenser dyer, wood stove and ceiling speakers. Oven and extractor are techy. They work very well - fantastic induction hob - but you will spend 15mins figuring out how to turn them on. Dryer also good but be aware it will switch off when water container full. Fridge also great but, as condenser dryer, it is not plumbed in so you will need to refill water reservoir by hand. Wood stove instructions are for an entirely different stove. Despite having a wood stove at home we couldn't keep this one alight for more than 15 mins. Luckily we were not visiting in winter. Ceiling speakers are touted as "my favourite part" but again no instructions and no remote control so didn't work.

plenty of space for us all and didn’t feel cramped at all even with the 8 of us. the washing machine and tumble dryer were an added bonus. brilliant location in Portree. friendly locals.

We personally weren’t keen on the toilet in one of the main bedrooms but that was purely personal preference. some drawers in the bedrooms would have been good too.

A gem in the Isle of Skye. We will definitely visit again ! Simply beautiful !

The location, the property and the ease with which we managed to get there. The instructions provided by the hosts were very detailed and clear. We loved every minute of our stay there. The apartment was well maintained and clean. They hosts gave us complimentary wine which was a very nice surprise. The kitchen was complete with working and clean appliances and cookware. Very thoughtfully designed.

The water pressure in the showers was very low. We couldnt use the shower in the bathroom downstairs due to the lack of water pressure from the showerheads.

Instructions for television were out of date for the remote control which had been replaced. The television system was temperamental but Ben came and sorted it twice.

We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage - a real home from home.

The view was lovely, and we were very comfortable there. The cottage is well designed and well equipped.

The wifi worked but the internet connection was really poor for most of our week - I don't think the owners could have done anything about that though. There were also no baking trays in the kitchen (I bought a couple so that we could have pizza and I could make scones!).

Short walk to town and nice sea view but appearance and quality slightly disappointing.

Convenient location for a short walk into Portree. Pleasant view across the bay. Spacious and well equipped.

The external condition of the property is not great; the decking and main entrance door feel a bit tatty and the gardens are not very well kept. Whilst the location is close to the town centre and there is a nice view across the water, the immediate environment of the property is not that great with a fire station immediately opposite. Whilst clean, our bathroom floor vinyl tiles were peeling and unsightly. The en-suite bathroom has no door from the bedroom. The double beds are standard doubles so cramped compared with what we're used to. The property had the feel of having had a cheap and cheerful internal makeover and the overall finish and quality was well below the other two properties we stayed at on our Highland trip.

Enjoyable stay at the skye bay, we will always remember the great view from the property

Sky bay is a very spacious and well appointed property. We really enjoyed the view of the bay from the main bedroom in the morning especially when the sun was shining. The veranda was equally great for breakfast with a view or having a sundowner. There was more space than we needed for a family of four and we had our choice of bedrooms. The beds was very comfortable and the bathrooms were very modern and clean. Generally the finishing's and furnishings were all good quality and the kitchen facilities were great.

The first thing we noticed on entering the property was a very strong smell of cat pee - mainly under and around the stairs. It started to reduce after we aired the property but was still evident, and spoiled the enjoyment of the property a little. The only other slight annoyance was the wifi which didn't seem to work despite various efforts to connect. However I decided not to contact the host about it as it meant I could keep the kids off their devices, which made for some better family time!! Oh Yes the sky box is very slow and doesnt like to obey instructions. This may be due to the fact that it is in the cupboard which didnt help it receive signals from the controller. I have the same sky box myself and do not experience these troubles at home so maybe one to thing to consider relocating. Admit Im being quite picky here as we really enjoyed this comfortable property and these are suggestions for improvements rather than major criticisms

Beautiful location. Lovely property & helpful host.

The house has beautiful views. Its open plan living & dining was great for a family of all ages meaning you can all be together whilst going different things. Portree is a friendly little village. All in all (and despite the weather) a great time was had by all.

We had a few small issues with the property but the host couldn't have been more helpful and acted very quickly to resolve the issues.

Location was good. Interior of the house was lovely and clean.

WC cistern in the bedroom with the bath constantly ran so disturbed sleep. Was advised there were sticks and logs for the fire. Not enough for even one night so had to go out to buy more. Would be useful to either provide more or say bring own.

Très bien si vous souhaitez être dans Portree et que le prix n’est pas un obstacle

Belle maison avec une vue sympa en hauteur, bien équipée et situé au calme à moins de 5mn à pied du centre ville.

Rien de négatif à dire sur la maison en elle même, si ce n’est le prix … on s’attendait à plus de luxe vu le prix que nous avons payé … il est vrai que les logements sur l’île sont très chers. Le fait d’être dans Portree n’est peut être pas si indispensable, à refaire nous choisirons une maison plus isolé dans les magnifiques paysages de l’île

Schönes, zentral gelegenes Haus für die Erkundigung von Skye

Das Haus liegt sehr zentral mit schönem Blick auf den Sound of Raasay. Zimmer, Küche und Wohnbereich sind nett eingerichtet. Ideale Ausgangslage für Wwnderungen auf Skye.

Die Heizung musste immer wieder aktiviert werden. Pfannen sind alt und verbraucht, Backofen und Backbleche nicht gereinigt unf waren mit Essresten versehen. Gehört sich nicht für den hohen Mietpreis.
