About this cabin rental
The Night sky is amazing for Stargazing. The Quiet of Night is Startling!
The Cabin was built by an English Publisher for his family in the 1950s and is located on 95 acres of woods on a 175' ledge overlooking Muscongus Bay and far off Islands and Harbors; it is off the road affording great privacy, parking and magnificent views.
Great Room has a Stone Fire Place and 10' long table and chairs, seating for 12, perfect for playing games and assembling puzzles. Picture Windows offer mesmerizing views.
Master Bedroom with King Bed maximizes the View with full wall of windows; Private Bath with claw footed tub. Second Large bedroom has Twin beds or King, shared bath with new shower and own outside entrance & exit into the woods. Third small bedroom with own entrance, futon making full size extra bed.
Outdoor Grill, Privacy, Quiet, Accessibility to Woods, Nature trail to the Bay. There is an accessible storeroom with extra sheets, towels and sundries.
Pet fee of $50 per animal will be payable with final payment or on arrival. Please advise type, size and age of pet. May not apply to certain animals. Animals must be trained and under owner's control.
Short scenic walk to Natural 'Working' where you can eat your prepared Lobster right off the dock. Restaurants, Ice cream Parlor, Coffee Shop W/ Wine Bar, Antique shops, Penny Candy, Boat Launch all within walking distance. Tennis court is within a couple of miles away.

This is a beautiful spot. Our kids loved exploring the property, picking blueberries, watching NJ for seals, lobster boats, and playing on the rocks by the water. We enjoyed a plunge every day at Bass Rock. The location and views can’t be beat. The house itself beautiful and rustic - and set up for the sturdy of heart. Note to families with small children - access to all bedrooms except the primary is from outside. Our kids are too small to feel comfortable sleeping in a room disconnected from the primary house (and the bathroom, which means flashlight for night visits). Because of this, we played musical beds each night. Laundry is also something to be mindful of if you have small kids and plan to wash while you’re away. The washing machine requires hook up in the kitchen for each use and line drying. We don’t mind that, but it’s a layer in planning and time that not everyone prepares for. Several of our loads got rained on because of our poor planning. :) One other note to folks who may plan to work remotely while traveling, the internet is very slow and made regular internet use almost impossible. Our time was better spent reading at Bass Rock anyway. This place is beautiful. You’ll love it. The hosts are very communicative and helpful. We will keep this house on our list for revisits- especially when our kids are a little older and can appreciate the beauty of this cabin. Thank you Heather and Chris!

Heather and Chris are very responsive, wonderful hosts! Thank you to the family for sharing this amazing property with others. The cabin feels like it rises from the forest. We had a great time and enjoyed all the great walking trails near to the cabin, especially Bass Rock. Reading the sign at Bass Rock, we discovered that the family had donated the property to the Coastal River Preserve system. That generous donation is an indication of the values that Heather and Chris share now by opening their home to others so we may experience the magic of the cabin and property. Thank you!

Wonderful, comfortable Maine cabin in a quite, secluded area of Round Pound.
Easy walk to town and Bass Rock Coastsl Rivers preserve on the water.
Owners are delightful.

Heather was great at communicating and checked in frequently to make sure we had everything that we needed. She made recommendations for places to go and things to do which was very helpful.
The cabin is truly a Maine cabin! Some of the rooms were a bit musty smelling and the second bedroom was pretty far from the main bedroom which didnt work for my 4 and 9 year olds. But the king sized bed and huge picture window was great and we made it work. The shower was really small and the shower head didnt move, so the kids had to take baths in the tub (which they loved).
The night sky was absolutely incredible!! It was my first time truly seeing the Milky Way. There was also a meteor shower going on while we were there so it was phenomenal. The peace and quiet there was also great!
Round Pond is such a cute little town and the general store was fantastic.
This place is a nice little getaway but isnt for people who want luxuries. Its a rustic Maine cabin and thats what we got 🙂
