About this house rental

For the 2020 season we will only take bookings from the end of October, thank you for your understanding. 70 km from Avignon and Mont Ventoux, detached house on the outskirts of a listed village character.
Conceived by the owner on bancaous (terraces) the house is leaned against the rock of the hill, which allows him an exceptional sight on the plain and its fields of lavender. Far from the beaten track you will find calm and serenity.
You will have two bedrooms, a mezzanine lounge with extra BZ, two bathrooms, one with bath, two toilets, a fully equipped kitchen. Cot, fireplace, tv hd, dvd, wifi ....
Outside two terraces, one shaded with trellis, garden furniture, two barbecue, garden shed ... The secure pool surrounded by dry stones will provide relaxation and freshness.
On your arrival to make your stay as pleasant as possible we will advise you on your wishes for walks, trips, visits and catering in the region.
Simiane and its surroundings will seduce you by the diversity of its landscapes, the authenticity of its old stones, a real haven of peace far from the classical circuits and the tourist affluence of the big cities.

We have a great two-week stay at Johans wonderful house The house is located in a great spot right on the edge of the historic village/town of Simiane La Rotunde. The town itself is very scenic and great views but quite empty and only small art galleries and no other shops. We have been to Provence before and chose Simiane La Rotonde in order to try a less touristy part of Provence The house has super swimming pool which is very private. In front of the house is a terrace where you can eat breakfast and an amazing raised terrace in the garden where you get great views of the old town and surrounding area. Amazing!Johan is the owner of the house and was very helpful. He speaks French and German (and we don’t) so communication was through text and google translate Johan lives around 1 hour from the house and was able to come by when there were issues (our pool needed to be cleaned due to the very hot weather, for example)He made us very welcome and even arranged a private wine, cheese, truffle tasting at one of his friends vineyard – a very enjoyable and authentic experience All in all, a wonderful holiday and highly recommended!

We had a great stay in the house. Alain and his wife showed us the house when we arrived and gave some good tips about what to experience in the area. All in all we had a very nice time both in the house and when exploring Provence.

This was my second visit. The house is a lovely gathering place inside and out tucked into a rock at the foot of a fairytale village with a nearby restaurant and boulangerie the equal of Parisian food. The place is for the traveler who is looking for peace away from over touristed towns. No trinket shops here, but many famous or not so famous places to visit are short trips away. Alain and Christine are kind to share such a gem.

Very lovely house with the most amazing terrace and wonderful view. Alain is a super nice host, very helpful and welcoming! Simiane-la-Rotonde is a cute town. There are limited choice of restaurants in the town itself, but the ones there are nice. Closests groceries 10 minutes away by car, but there is also a small kiosk with necesseties 2 minutes by foot from the house.

The house is beautiful and very comfortable, as is the village in which it resides. It is well maintained and much thought has been given to every detail. My only complaint was the (high) charge for bed linens, towels and cleaning, which came to a total of much more than one night's stay. This should be posted in the listing as it effects overall cost, and in general seems like something that should be included (sheets and towels), and not an add-on. Alain, the owner, is very nice and accommodating, and immediately assisted us when we had a problem with ants in one of the rooms. However, we had to communicate through Google translate as he has even less English than I have French.

Two of us spent a lovely week in October. We were too late to take advantage of the pool, but the fall weather was ideal for sitting at one of the three patio tables. Our favorite one was a total surprise since it wasn't in the photos. We appreciated the engineering marvel of the old family home, the organization and "just right" amount of supplies, and the kitchen's dishwasher. We prepared most meals at home and had everything we needed. The house seems ideal for a family since the upstairs has two beds and a tv room. The two of us liked that we had room to spread out. We love this part of Haute-Provence and this home is the perfect place to use as a sight-seeing hub.

A truly magnificent experience

We were looking for peace and quiet in Provence, with restaurants and other amenities nearby. This did the trick and so much more. We loved living in a real mountain village, complete with an 11th Century castle at the top! The house is beautiful, cozy and yet spacious, with all the necessary equipment for cooking or eating al fresco. The pool was clean and cool, the poolside chairs comfy. A little part-feral cat lives near the place, adorable! (We fed him and he would wait on the doorstep for breakfast!...) NB: If you want anything other that French quiz shows on TV, take your Roku along! The Chapeau Rouge restaurant (10 min walk) was lovely, with great food. For a special treat - and amazing views -try Le Jardin de l'Abbaye Valsaintes. And nearby Banon has all the shops and cafes/restaurants you'll need for a quick trip out.

The Meffre Family has great pride for building this exceptional home near the lovely town of Banon. The home is more than comfortable: it fills with sun and the colors of the impeccable decor. Outside is like a fairy tale, as are the dozen towns nearby to explore. A walk to the wonderful Boulangerie of Le Chapeau Rouge (also a good restaurant) sets up any day for health and fun. And lavendar season had not even begun--so how amazing the fields must be under those blue skies.

We had a fantastic week here managing to combine rest and relaxation with visits to the attractions in the area. We wanted somewhere to explore the region and this cottage is in a good place. The local village does not have many amenities to walk to. Last week of August there was only one local restaurant open, and the food was very good, but it was closed for a wedding on our last night. The more vibrant village of Banon is 11km away and has more facilities, good parking and a market on some days. The owners are charming, welcoming and helpful. I have held back on 5 stars because the equipment in the house is all a bit tired, cracked, unmatching crockery etc. Also, British travellers may be unused to paying extra for the option to have bed-linen and towels provided. We only discovered the extra payments needed after we had agreed to book and paid in cash on arrival. Also it would be better if the contract was sent and returned electronically rather than via post. It was still fair value though.

Alain nous a réservé un accueil chaleureux et nous a donné de nombreuses possibilités d'excursions dans cette belle région. Pas facile de sortir de la maison pour des excursions, car il est merveilleux de s'y détendre, que ce soit au bord de la belle et grande piscine ou d'un apéritif sous le rocher unique avec une vue imprenable sur le village et le paysage !

Excellente situation qui permet de découvrir les beautés de cette région. En cette fin février il faisait froid malgré le beau temps et le mistral soufflait. Aussi avons nous beaucoup apprécié la cheminée ! La maison est bien équipée et fonctionnelle au pied du beau village de Simiane que l on peut admirer du séjour. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt in diesem alten, an den Fels geschmiegten Häuschen. Toller Blick auf Simiane und das Luregebirge. Der Vermieter ist sehr nett und zurückhaltend. Es ist alles da, was man braucht und gut zu beheizen. Unkomplizierte Übergabe. Ohne Einschränkung zu empfehlen.

La maison est agréable et adaptée pour 3 ou 4 adultes avec ses 2 grandes chambres et ses 2 salles de bains. Grâce à la remise extérieure attenant à la maison , nous avons pu mettre nos vélos à l’abris et en sécurité. Malgré une météo un peu fraîche, entre 2 et 12 degrés nous avons pu faire les randonnées avec nos VTTAE dans cette région du Luberon.
