About this cabin rental
1 bedroom, 1 bath, 456 square foot Yurt. Sleeps 5 people. Outdoor shower. Laundry available upon request. Owner/host lives on-site in neighboring cabin, available for questions, suggestions, information, etc.

Open floor plan, unique, Mongolian style lodging located on the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. Within a forty minutes (or less) drive you can be: in the Sunlight Basin, on the Beartooth Plateau, in Cooke City, MT, at the North-East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, and at Pilot/Index peaks. Cody, WY (south-east of The Yurt) and Red Lodge, MT (north-east of The Yurt) are both approximately an hours drive.
The areas surrounding The Yurt are known for their breathtaking views and wide range of activities. Hundreds of hiking trails allow both beginner and more advanced hikers to explore this beautiful landscape. World-class trout fishing, canoeing, kayaking, excellent opportunities for photographs and photographers, bird-watching, and an abundance of wildlife viewing are all activities available in the Beartooth-Absaroka Wilderness. In the colder months, many areas offer up great opportunities for quality snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding, skiing, and snowboarding. You can see stunning views straight from the deck of The Yurt and anywhere you travel in this unique region. The night skies are spectacular. The Yurt offers an area of peace and quiet and is a great basecamp for exploring and experiencing all that this incredible region has to offer. What a wonderful place and host. It felt like visiting friends, host was gracious and welcoming. And my son and his friend loved the dogs. The area was wonderful for hikes ans looking at the mountain and hearing the river, what could one need more? The yurt was properly stocked and cooking was fun. The kids enjoyed back to basic life and no TV is fantastic! Enjoyed some bonfire and s'mores. Easy access to Yellowstone and we saw some bears. We would love to go back! Thanks for everything!!

My friend and I had a fabulous time at Nan and Brian's property! We were on a road trip from the Lamar Valley to the Beartooth Pass and were looking for a unique place to stay on the way! There had been some damage to the Yurt skin, which Nan told us about when we were booking. They were hoping to have it fixed, but, if not, Nan invited us to stay in her cabin (next to the Yurt) where she stays during the summer. She welcomed us into her awesome, unique cabin which was so homey! She gave us an orientation to the area when we arrived and we immediately went to the river for some peace and beauty. Then we caught up with Nan over wine and she even cooked us a delicious dinner! That's not part of the usual package, but we had communicated so many times, we felt like friends already! When we arrived, we felt like family! The cabin was cozy and inspirational (hello retirement vision board!), and we slept well. We will definitely be back and hope to check out the yurt someday!
