About this house rental

Beachfront 4 bedroom, 4 1/2 bath custom home. The Swell Life features sweeping ocean views from every room. This nearly 3,000 square foot home is designed as the perfect family getaway. The first floor contains the primary suite with king size bed, a family bunkroom for six with two full and two twin trundle beds, a seating area and an oceanfront screened-in porch leading to a beach walkover. The second floor is built for entertaining and includes an open floor plan that combines kitchen, dining, and living room. The gourmet kitchen includes a large Thermodor gas range, stainless steel refrigerator, separate dedicated icemaker, wine cooler, large quartz island with bar stools, and custom cabinets. The dining room features a large table with both, bench seating and chairs. The living room is perched in the center of the action and includes the latest in audio-visual entertainment in addition to gorgeous views of the beach. Third bedroom is located off 2nd floor living area with queen bed.

The top floor has one king bedroom, as well as a bonus room with one queen bed. The roof top deck features a covered deck area along with a sun deck to catch some rays. In addition, the third floor features a wet bar with beverage station. This gem was built in 2017 and designed by Folly architect Alan Kinter, who features top quality finishes throughout.

The house features a central stereo, alarm, 3-4 car parking, and an elevator that stops at all three floors. Elevator is an amenity for guest convenience only, NOT ADA compliant. It is the perfect location, a block from Bert's Market and three short blocks from Center Street, where all restaurants, shops, and entertainment are located. Historic downtown Charleston is only about a 25 minute drive away.

Home is strictly non-smoking and not pet friendly. Must be 25 years of age to rent. No parties/events allowed that exceed the maximum occupancy of the home. Property is managed through property management company by our local teams and 24/7 emergency maintenance. **HOUSE SUPPLIES**
This property is managed by a property management group. We provide a complimentary starter amenity kit to get you settled. Guests are responsible for replenishing supplies as needed during their stay.
Two rolls of paper towels, 1 sponge, 1 dishwashing liquid, 3 trash bags, 3 dishwasher tabs, and 2 kitchen towels in the kitchen. Each bathroom will have 2 toilet paper rolls and at least 1 bar of soap. Full bathrooms additionally include kits with travel size products: 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 lotion bottle, and 2 makeup wipes.

The property was just as advertised. It was really amazing very clean, convenient to everything and the third floor balcony with the furniture was unbelievable really really happy with this entire stay

Overall, we enjoyed our stay only because of: time with family, the incredible views and the convenience of having the wonderful boardwalk with the rinse off- that was all spectacular. However, I would really suggest blocking time off from renting for this house so that all of the issues that are being avoided can be properly addressed: The overwhelming smell (of what I can only describe as putrid/stale urine) coming from the main master closet on level 1, the mold/mildew accumulation on the bathroom ceilings on level 3, the water leak coming out of the kitchen oven hood, and the loud continual thud coming from the elevator. The absolutely disgusting smell in the master closet on the main level was too much to bear. We could hardly sleep at night because of it but were afraid to leave the door shut for too long or all of our things would be covered (they are). There is a separate locked closet inside of the closet- not sure if that’s where the smell is coming from, but it definitely needs to be tracked down and addressed ASAP. The mold/mildew and leaks in the ceilings of the bathrooms upstairs is pretty glaring. Not only does it look bad, but having dirty water drip-drop on your head while using the toilet is pretty gross. And whatever made water randomly gush out of the kitchen oven hood (a place no water should be and was probably why it didn’t work properly- smoke alarms went off every time we used it and the light function didn’t work) needs to be sourced and addressed immediately. No idea what’s wrong with the elevator but about every 30 mins or so it would make a huge loud thud/mechanical sound. Kept waking the light sleepers in the house all night. The technician that was sent out to”fix our issues” looked at them, said he would file a report and left claiming he fixed the bathroom lock- he didn’t. Other things I always note in reviews were comfort items and beds. We searched every room and closet on arrival and couldn’t find but ONE extra blanket in the whole house. We had family from ages 6-69 in the house and when asked about their beds no one had a good bed to report. Highly suggest this home invest in upgraded mattresses because a good nights sleep and make or break a stay and the mattresses in this home, unfortunately, are terrible (I slept on the floor because it was better than our bed). Sadly, first house in 13+ years I wouldn’t stay in again or recommend unless all issues are properly addressed.
