About this house rental

For over 15 years, Casa Naranja has been one of the Rio Verde Foothills’ most-loved vacation rentals—welcoming guests long before the area became known for its retreats. Designed by avid travelers who understand what makes a stay truly memorable, this home combines comfort, character, and the kind of views that make you stop in your tracks.

Perched on a private one-acre lot, the property offers uninterrupted panoramas of Four Peaks and the Superstition Mountains from a three-tiered patio with a view fence. Watch the desert’s drama unfold—wildlife at sunrise, star-filled skies at night—while enjoying a fire pit, built-in BBQ, shaded dining, and mature landscaping that ensures privacy and beauty.

Inside, soaring bright interiors invite you to relax. Highlights include a 650-square-foot gourmet kitchen, a grand player piano with an extensive library of music, a spacious living room with bar, plush master suite, and quiet, comfortable bedrooms. The private courtyard, complete with fountain and desert garden, is a serene hideaway for sunbathing, reading, or simply unwinding.

With high-speed internet, streaming TVs, a curated library of books and games, and the kind of mattresses guests rave about, the home balances luxury with livability. And though peaceful and private, it’s just minutes from Dynamite Rd., top hiking trails like Tom’s Thumb and Pinnacle Peak, and some of Scottsdale’s best golf courses.

Our guests often say the same thing: the reality is even better than the pictures. We couldn’t agree more—come see why Casa Naranja has been making vacations unforgettable for over a decade.

Looking to stay longer than 35 days? Please reach out for a special deal.
We are on hauled water! We kindly ask our guests to be water-wise.

Indoor fireplace does not function. We have an outdoor fire area as an alternative. Please make sure to have a five-gallon bucket full of water and a hose nearby in the unlikely event of the fire getting out of control.

Next door neighbor has exotic bird. Squauks 2 or 3 times a day for 2-10 minutes (almost never at night). Can hear on the back patio, but not too noticeable indoors or courtyard.

Check-out time is 10AM. Failure to check out by this time means that guest must pay for an additional evening at the prevailing rate on VRBO if the property is available for that night, or $200 if the property is unavailable for that night.

We spent two lovely weeks in North Scottsdale, enjoying the weather, the views and the people

Beautifully maintained and furnished comfortably as well as attractively. Landscaping in backyard was beautiful with a spectacular view. My dogs enjoyed it also.

The home with the blue door is comfortable and nicely decorated (even a player piano), but the real appeal, for us, was the location. It is out in horse country, east of north Scottsdale, away from city traffic, on winding red dirt roads and close enough to the trails on the McDowell Preserve to be mountain bike heaven. This is a nice home base if your interest is logging miles on your bikes and digging starry skies and sunrise views over Four Peaks. Owners were responsive and helpful.

As others have said, this place is really nice. The house is spacious, the furniture and beds are all comfortable, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need, the backyard is wonderful, as are the views, and the owners are really great at the little things (starter coffee, soaps, etc) and they are very very responsive to issues and questions. However, we did experience several issues. First, the appliances are getting old and several have problems. The dishwasher died while we were there, as did the coffee maker. The fridge had problems as did the oven, though they worked ok. The owners really worked hard to resolve the appliance issues, but with covid, they faced an uphill climb. I personally think they should proactively replace appliances before they die while the house is rented. Second, while the backyard is really nice, it's not pet-friendly. Whenever our dogs ventured off the patio they got nasty cactus thorns in their paws. We could not let them off the patio. And, the fence is not high enough to prevent coyotes from jumping the fence and attacking pets. That didn't happen to us, but we were concerned. The neighborhood is quiet and secluded (only a handful of houses) and the neighbors are friendly and helpful. But be aware that the house is on a dirt road, and it's 20 minutes to the nearest grocery store. On the other hand it is really close to some great hiking/biking trails! We really enjoyed the proximity to the preserved desert areas. The third issue is that the satellite tv set -up is a bit strange. The Dish receiver is in the master bedroom. But both the TV in the master and the TV in the living room are connected to that one receiver. This might be why we could never get a true 16 x 9 picture on the living room TV. The sides were always cut-off no matter what picture mode we tried. The owners might want to upgrade their Dish system to have a receiver on each TV. Finally, the owners should upgrade all of their bed linens. They don't fit the beds, as I think they just upgraded the mattresses (which are all super comfortable).
