AMAZING property. Absolutely beautiful secluded location right next to the ocean with well-kept grounds. Lots of outdoor seating/lounging options to relax and listen to the waves and feel the breeze. We stayed three nights and had dinner at the property three times. A lot of the restaurants we thought of trying were closed this time of year. Absolutely no regrets though. Each dinner was delicious! Full courses from bread, cheese, salads, multiple sides, main course, and desserts. We were stuffed every single night. Eating a home cooked meal while watching the sun set over Mt Pico in front of you, what gets better than that? Rooms were lovely and modern. The property is on the hiking trail between Vimes and Sao Joao, although I did not hike it this time. A suspension bridge crosses right next to the property. There appear to be lots of swimming equipment available that we did not take advantage of this time of year.
Wifi was spotty in our room. It is a bit of a trek to get the property from the main road and from the larger towns. You have to walk a distance from the parking area to the accommodations which could be unpleasant if it were raining but we thankfully did not run into that scenario ourselves. Just fyi.

Wonderful location, accommodating host. We had one of the best meals of our trip here! Breakfast is incredible and the views are outstanding. We made the mistake of only booking for one night, next time will be back for longer!

So we finished our vacation in the Azores and I had to write about this amazing place called Abrigo Cascata, which made us feel both at home, in a luxury resort, and in peace and quiet from another world.
Anita and Silvie welcome everyone with warmth and great love, you immediately know you are in good hands, the rooms are large and luxurious with an amazing view of the sea and of course the beautiful Pico volcano that you can never stop looking at.
We had both breakfast and dinner there and it was a great pleasure to be filled with the peace and tranquility that the place offers

Be prepared to walk a steep and rocky path for approx. 8-10 minutes once you park your car.
Suitcases need to be transported by golf cart.
A heads up for such an inconvenient trail to your small room. God forbid it rains- slippery! OR you arrive in the dark -not a well groomed path at all!
