About this house rental

Built in the 1920s for Captain Myron Garrish, this historic island home has been enlarged and completely renovated down to the studs. The foundation has been raised, the ceiling has been raised, and now it is time to raise your expectations for a pleasant and comfortable step back in time on the island’s most historic sandy lane.
Snuggled within the ancient live oaks, Howard St is a quiet and peaceful place on the island, yet this home is located just steps away from restaurants, shops and the magical Silver Lake harbor. Right next door is our other home, the beloved Elsie’s House, so you have the opportunity to rent both if you need more space for larger family gatherings.
Featuring open living space, 3 comfortable bedrooms, and luxury baths we believe you will feel at home as soon as you walk in. There is covered outdoor area for bikes and beach items and security camera protection at back entrance. The front porch will be your perch to relax and become an O’Cocker, even if it’s just for a little while. Come enjoy!

Property was beautifully set on Howard St. Our host was very responsive. The property was very clean and well cared for. I would note that the street (Howard) was very difficult to drive on if you have a little sedan vs. a SUV. Parking was a bit challenging also. None of this would deter us from returning. The property was centrally located. Lovely time, we had.

Very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated to give that truly “Ocracoke” feel. Love the history of the house and central location was great for walking to shops and dining. We’ll be back!

Stayed here last year and loved it. This year the cleanliness of the property had declined. Outside deck and furniture were filthy this year and the place was less clean in general than it should have been. Great place, love the deck and outdoor shower, but needs some TLC.
