Domaine St François: La Gran Casa de la Familia—The House of Great Reunions

We had a very relaxing stay at this lovely and large pretty house with an amazing garden! There was plenty of space for our party of 12 with 7 bedrooms in total (one you have to walk through to get to two others). Two bedrooms are on the ground floor with a shower room and 5 are upstairs with a bathroom and separate WC. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds comfortable (but could all do with a mirror in them). The house included all the main essentials with a very well equipped kitchen and a laundry room with two washing machines and a tumble dryer situated in the basement. The owner lives on site in her own property and looks after some more gites situated at the end of the very large garden. She was helpful but did not intrude unless we needed anything. The property had a hot tub but unfortunately this wasn’t working until towards the end of our stay so we didn’t use it. There is a large dining table in the kitchen area with bench style seating and some extra dining chairs which was a nice focal point for eating and drinking around and playing games in the evening. The house had one small comfortable sofa and a couple of armchairs so we did have to share the comfy seats out a bit! Outside there was another large table to eat around and a few wooden pallet style seating areas and cushions and some metal garden chairs -some proper comfortable sun loungers would have been nice especially for the more mature members in our party but there were still plenty of seats available for us to all enjoy the sunny days! We enjoyed several nice days out exploring around the area and you would really need a car for this property to get out and about and see things. The main supermarkets were in Carhaix about 20 minutes drive away but there was a local shop in the village about 5 minutes drive away for essentials. Overall we really enjoyed a nice holiday at this lovely house, with a mixture of both relaxing and sightseeing days.
