The location is sensational with the nature reserve easily accessible for lovely walks and getting in touch with nature. Curlew Cottage is super cosy and warm, we had to turn the heating down when we arrived!
There are 2 toilets which is very convenient for 4 people and there are plenty of cutlery, plates and cooking facilities to make your own meals.
The decor is homely and well-chosen. It is a very quiet place in general.
It would be even better if there was a chopping board, a tiny bit of washing up liquid and more than 2 toilet rolls for 4 people over 3 days.
There are enough mugs for everyone, but they are not in keeping with the cost cottage (Sports Direct for example).
The extractor in the family bathroom is loud and woke us up every time somebody visited the loo. There are much quieter ones available now and it would put me off staying here again if this wasn't upgraded in 2026.

Great location to be so near the Lakes. Comfortable furnishings. Good underfloor heating.
Modern Stove a bit complicated. Wall instructions? A few more mugs perhaps?

A familiar choice for us as we frequently stay in this barn conversion, and enjoy visiting Lackford Lakes, the adjoining Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve.
The hard water, and resulting softening process.

The property was spacious and finished to a high standard. There was plenty of parking and enough cutlery, plates etc for the number of visitors (sometimes places advertise they sleep so may people but only have enough seating and utensils for half that number) instructions received to find and access the property were clear and timely. It was a really lovely space to spend time in and had all the basics you’d need including kindly leaving milk for tea and coffee and some biscuits. It was warm and cosy.
Nothing.

Surprised by the four poster bed but very comfortable. Location is excellent, near the lakes, nice and quiet, plenty of places to eat within a short drive, close to Bury and lots of NT properties to visit.
Can't criticise too much but recommend that all owners should stay in their property for a few days and then review what they have provided for clients to use based on their own experience. I'm particularly thinking kitchen and bathroom in this case.

The peace and quiet of the setting. The size of the rooms. The style and design of the buildings, landscaping and furniture. The location - we have family in a neighbouring village.
That we could only stay two nights.

This was our second stay at Lackford Lakes and our third is already booked. It is very convenient for us to visit family in a nearby village. We love bird spotting around the lakes and the tranquil location. The barns have been restored to a very high standard. The garden dining areas have been cleverly designed to allow for complete privacy.

Beautiful buildings, in a beautiful setting.
Clean and cozy.
Lovely nature reserve just up the road.

Well equipped and spacious. Good facilities . Nice welcome pack. Good selection of games. Clean. Clear instructions to find it. Plenty of glasses and crockery to use
I have a bit of feedback that I don’t think needs a public review if the owner would like to contact me, and nothing that detracted from our stay.

The location was beautiful and so was the barn.
Would definitely go back.
After some issues the first day I was abit disappointed as I booked a disabled barn for us all and unfortunately my father was unable to gain access to the barn or leave the barn without assistance as he is in a motorised wheel chair.
I think for future reference for other guests that the wheelchair accessible sign needs to come off the website. But I found out that all other barns are accessible so I will book again for us as a family as everything else was lovely ..

Lots of space and places to sit and come together as a group in Holm Oak Barn.
There was no bin for recycling, seemed a bit strange for properties on a nature reserve. We kept our recycling separate and took it to Tesco in Bury St Edmunds.

Everything. Second visit and just as good.

Location, layout, comfy bed
Ants in bathroom, some dirty crockery, no egg cups, coffee provided clearly a mixture of different brands and looked pretty old

So easy to find location and enter property using the instructions. There was a folder with lots of useful information at the house. Loved that it was in a nature reserve. It was quiet and peaceful. The accommodation was beautiful with lots of space and everything you needed.
Kids were disappointed that there were no pool cues in the games room as there was a pool table. However they ended up using the table tennis and had great fun.

quiet , comfortable well situated
the games room is very small and more child friendly facilities would be helpful such as a designated play area
With two boys accommodation with the larger enclosed garden would be preferable

The location is perfect for walking to West Stow and Lackford Lakes, so if you like wildlife, this is the place to stay. The large windows at the back of the main room look out on open fields and woodland so you can even spot wildlife from the comfort of an armchair.
Being winter and a cold snap, the underfloor heating was so welcome! In fact it was so warm we had to turn the thermostat down to 16º, and off all together in the bedroom.
We appreciated the chocolate hobnobs!
Mobile phone reception is either non existent or patchy - normally that wouldn't have mattered but I had to make some urgent calls due to a family emergency, and having to walk halfway to the Lackford Lakes centre to make calls wasn't fun. Not sure what the hosts can do about that, but it's worth bearing this in mind if staying connected is important to you. Wifi works fine though.
We'd prefer a firmer mattress on the bed but other than that, facilities are comprehensive, just about everything we needed.

The three lads who stayed here whilst we were working at Volvo loved the cleanliness/ facilities far better than a prenier inn.
