Pool was lovely, beaches around were great for swimming, lots of facilities, lots of kitchen equipment, air con was good

De mooie indeling van de tuin en het prachtige en goed onderhouden zwembad. Ook het terras was schitterend gebouwd waardoor er altijd schaduw was. De keuken is van heel wat moderne toestellen voorzien en ook een geweldig koffiemachine en goed werkende airco. Eduard de host is steeds goed bereikbaar.

Er is 1 slaapkamer losstaand van de villa nabij het zwembad maar daar rook het heel vochtig. Hierdoor hebben onze zoon (21) en dochter (18) in de kinderkamer in het huis samen geslapen wat voor hen wat minder comfortabel was. Ook waren er sommige meubels en toestellen wat verouderd of aan vervanging toe. Bijvoorbeeld de badkamerkastjes beneden hangen scheef en wat los, de vaatwasser zijn antilekdraad hing los wat een minder hygienisch gevoel geeft omdat het steeds het bestek raakt in de besteklade, het duurt heel lang eer kledij gedroogd geraakt in de droogtrommel (aangezien het heel warm en vochtig is in juli was dit wel soms een probleem voor het drogen van de handdoeken want ook buiten droogt niets door de vochtigheid). Dit zijn allemaal kleine dingen die wel opgelost kunnen geraken maar voor de prijs van de villa had dit wel in orde mogen zijn. Ons verblijf viel in de WK voetbal periode. We konden genieten van een heel mooie grote Smart TV maar helaas viel deze op drukke momenten vaak uit.

Extremely comfortable villa with everything you need to self cater. Great variety of supermarkets nearby. Very private sunbathing and pool area. Host was very welcoming and we felt he was always available should we have had problems. Nearby beaches are very good and uncrowded when we were there. We left the villa feeling very relaxed and chilled and hope to return in the future.

First of all, the host Edouard was extremely friendly, approachable and responsive. He sent an info booklet about the villa and the area a few days before our trip and gave us arrival details and also contacted us to sort out departure from the villa and to let us know what to do on the last day and what time the villa was available until. He helped us with a problem we had the first week with hot water in the showers and he helped immediately and effectively which was very much appreciated. His communication was perfect. The villa itself is spacious, clean, located in a quiet area (at the time of year we went although it may get livelier as Summer months advance) and it does require a car to get about the area in our opinion but it’s close to the town centre which has a few nice shops, lovely restaurants and a harbour. We went into L’Amettla De Mar a few times. The cove/beach in the town centre is really nice. The villa is close to 3 big supermarkets which are a short drive away, there is a lovely restaurant/bar a short walk away and only 30 mins from Salou by car which was a fun day out and had a great beach. It’s only 1.5-2 hours drive to Barcelona which our daughter and partner went to for the day (although getting the train back was a bit complicated). Our other daughter and son went to Tarragona by train and back and this was a bit easier. Bedrooms in the villa were spacious with ample bedding and towels. Equipment and furnishings were of great quality and there were lots of kitchen crockery and lots of utensils. The welcome fruit bowl was a lovely touch and one we made full use of. Lovely table and chairs outside where we chose to eat every day and there were lots of sun loungers, and sun and shady spots were plentiful depending on what you prefer. The terrace upstairs was wonderful with sea views.

We went early season 9th May to 23rd May and had a 10 month old baby with us. The pool is unheated and Edouard does tell you this but for two thirds of our holiday we couldn’t use the pool the way we wanted as the water was far too icy cold. However by mid way through the second week the water was a nicer temperature due to the weather getting hotter so please bear this in mind if you are going early season or with a small child - our grandchild was shivery cold even in a wetsuit swimsuit in there and we had really wanted him to have fun in the pool. It’s a lovely size pool though and if you can power through the cold then you can still get a quick dip at this time of the year! The further into the season I’m sure there will not be the same problem as there will be more sunshine hours to heat or take the edge off the coldness of the water. Some of the details in the information booklet sent by Edouard were very useful and we referred to it a lot, however some details were either a bit out of date or not applicable to the time we visited in early May. For instance a recommended beach restaurant shown as nearby (about 18 mins walk) was non-existent at Cala Forn and the area and beach at Cala Forn looked as though it hadn’t seen anyone there for a very long time. If we go back to the area we would use the cove at L’Amettla de Mar town rather than the beaches right near the Villa or take the car to a bigger beach (like we did at Salou). This is not the hosts fault though as businesses change all the time.
