Westport Country Chalets

Location was great wery close to Westport lovely surrounding area. The hosts were extremely obliging. We apreciated the little touches. Thank you to them!

Geographical location is great - close enough to Westport but well out in the country. Also well-positioned for accessing many other areas - Achill Island, Co Connemara, Co Galway, etc Secluded, provided most of the usual facilities - cooking facilities, iron + board, fan, essentials such as milk, cleaning products, condiments, towels. The hosts were very responsive regarding check-in, as we were running late on arrival, so it was late before we arrived, but they ensured we had no issues getting into the chalet.

The chalet we were in (Chalet 2) was quite noisy - apart from the location, which is immediately adjacent to a fairly-busy road and also a railway line, the chalet itself made quite a bit of noise - creaks, rattles and clunks, especially as it was quite breezy while we were there. Not sure what caused that, but could be just the wooden construction, and possibly roof-tiles and/or a vent rattling in the wind. There were limited drying facilities - after 5 days and nights, the towels were decidely damp, and never dried out. We tried washing clothes while there, but the small clothes drying frame didn't really cut it - a washer-dryer, electric drying rack or dehumidifier might have worked better. Being on the west coast of Ireland, I guess humidity is usually quite high anyway, so natural drying doesn't really work. We tried putting the rack outside for a couple of spells, but only light clothing would dry properly.

Security

Quite basic. No microwave. Plastic flowers . No welcome pack of bread / milk shampoo/ conditioner-considering how far it is from town.
