Mhlati Guest Cottages

I had a wonderful stay at Mhlati Guest Cottages on my way to Kruger. The place was very clean and nicely decorated. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Definitely will be back on my next trip to Kruger!

We had an excellent stay at Mhlati Guest Cottages. The property is very secure and at the doorstep of the Malelane Gate to Kruger Park. Our cottage was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The owner and staff were very helpful with suggestions for Safaris and Dinner options. Excellent morning breakfast and they made us a breakfast to go on the day of our safari.

Breakfast was great. The place was conveniently situated near the Malalane Gate, entrance to Kruger. The LAPA area was great for getting together in the evenings

The property is situated in a secure area. One has to pass through a boom to gain access to the area. The room was very clean. The breakfast was good although the beacon was inedible as it was too salty.

1. The information on the Booking.com app is factually incorrect and misleading and should be corrected. Our room is described as a double room with a photo showing a double bed. In the "Room Description" on the app it however states "The unit has 2 beds." The Room Size is given as 40 sq meters which is factually not correct as the 40 sq meters includes a separate lounge with a kitchenette and the bedroom itself is very small. The information on the Booking.com app also states that " Breakfast not included." The owner however informed me that the information on Booking.com was not correct and " The reference to no meal option replies specifically to dinner/lunch. Breakfast is included." 2.The Booking.com app indicates that a hairdryer is included. There was however no hairdreyer in our unit. We were informed by the lady serving the breakfast that the hairdreyer must have been stolen. Fortunately we brought our own hairdreyer. 3. No electrical plugs near the mirror which makes it difficult when using a hairdryer. 4. Forget about getting a good night's sleep. A train passes right by the address and runs all night. It sometimes sounds as if it is passing right next to the house and early morning the driver , sounds it's horn. The room is also never dark with curtains that do not keep the bright security lights out . 5. When we arrived at our room after dinner I sat on one of the beds and one of the bed's feet completely broke off. I weigh 74kg. When I called the owner , who apparently was at a meeting/ function , he told me that he could not move us to another room. We were the only guests booked for the night and all the other rooms were available. He however later called and offered to come home and try to fix the problem which we politely rejected as it had already been late and we wanted to go to bed. I moved my mattress to the adjoining lounge and slept on the floor..
