St. George Hotel

A step back in time that provides an experience like no other. Everything from our host, Ria, to the decor of the hotel to the wonderful breakfast was perfect! I would stay here again and will recommend to all my friends and family want something than a traditional hotel experience.

Everything was perfect!

If you’re going to barkerville it just makes sense to stay here. Our kids loved walking around the park at night when no one else was around and the full emersion experience. Ria was wonderful and made our stay extra special. The continental breakfast was tasty and robust. We booked one queen room and one 2-twin bed room.

I don’t really have any complaints. I did see into another room that had a couch and wish we had had a bit more room in our room and a couch but I didn’t see that option when we booked - but that’s no fault of the property.

The Central location in Barkerville is very handy. The hotel manager, Ria, was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel had comfy Victorian charm.

The property is a lovely heritage hotel, but I’d just spent ten days without my own in-room washroom and the St.George didn’t offer this either. Unfortunately, I needed to cut my stay short. There was no one on site to discuss this with so I just left and had to pay for three nights. As an update, I was contacted a few weeks later by the owner offering a reimbursement or credit against a future visit. We'll see what happens. Kudos to her!!!

The staff were virtually unavailable. I was looking forward to them being in character, but none of that was in place. Sigh.
