Phong Nha Love Homestay

I got a room with 2 double beds for myself and a huge bathroom. The room was equipped with a good a/c and also fans, the pool was clean and perfect after a long hot day and it's within walking distance from "centre". The host organized a taxi for me to and from the train station in Dong Hoi and also let me leave my backpack for 2 days when I was joining a tour. He is very friendly and wants to help you wherever he can.

I ordered a banana pancake for breakfast, but it was crispy from the outside and a bit raw from the inside. The taste hasn't bad, but I don't think it was a pancake recipe haha. Still appreciate his effort!

I had a wonderful stay at Phong Nha Love Homestay. The facilities were clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, and the swimming pool was a fantastic place to relax after a day of exploring the caves. A special thank you to Trung, who was incredibly helpful throughout my stay. He helped me arrange my onward transport and made everything so easy and stress-free. The location is great—around a 10-minute walk to the centre, with a few restaurants nearby. Grab can be a little limited in the area, but the homestay also offers bike rentals, making it easy to get around. Overall, this was excellent value for money, and I would happily stay here again. Thank you for such a welcoming stay!

We had a lovely stay here. The room was spacious, comfortable, and conveniently located close to several great restaurants. Breakfast was delicious, we had an omelette with coffee, served with fresh French bread/bánh mì, which was a really nice start to the day. The pool was also lovely and clearly cleaned regularly, which made it a great place to relax. The owner was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. It was also lovely to see how family-oriented he is, spending time with his child and family even while managing the pressures of running the business. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and would happily recommend it.

The location, the room, the pool and the price all seemed very promising and gave the place real potential. Unfortunately, this only made our disappointment with the actual experience even greater.

There is no clearly defined area for guests, indoors or outdoors, so simply sitting or moving around the property often felt like an intrusion into the family’s private space. On our first evening, the family was hosting relatives by the pool and looked visibly surprised when we came outside and sat there. On the second evening, they held a children’s pool party for their son and his friends. Even access to the pool is uncomfortable for guests: you either have to use an outside metal staircase, which was particularly unpleasant when we were barefoot, or walk through the family kitchen while they are there cooking and going about their daily life. Neither option feels welcoming or guest friendly. The same applies indoors, where the common area is used entirely for the family’s daily life, including their baby sleeping there. There seems to be no one specifically available to attend to guests, so even basic requests can feel like an interruption. Overall, we constantly felt expected to fit around the family’s life rather than being welcomed and accommodated as paying guests.
