About this apartment rental
This suite enjoys high ceilings, stained glass and a private porch overlooking the north garden and neighbouring gardens to the east.
Your retreat features contemporary and Danish modern furnishings spiced with antiques and collectibles from our travels in Asia and beyond.
The south side of the house has about 14 steps to the main entrance hall. The north entrance has only 7 steps and provides direct access to the Parlour Suite.
The Parlour Suite is fully equipped for up to four guests in two bedrooms. There is one bathroom with tub/shower. An office area has a large working surface--with free WiFi. Please let us know if you require linens for the pull-out bed.
Modern appliances include a dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster, food processor/mixer, washer/dryer, hair dryer.
Your hosts are John and Rob, welcoming 30+ day guests to Oaklands 8 (1bd+), Parlour Suite (2bd+) and Salish Sea View Suite (2bd), each in close proximity to the others. From May 2024, stays must be a minimum of 90+ days to comploy with Provincial regulations. We are resident close by and available for insights into Victoria's many attractions.
Guests enjoy eclectic in-suite reading, basic cable providing television and audio entertainment, free WiFi, printer and all provided appliances. Staying a while and need more reading suggestions? Ask your hosts!
You can expect a warm welcome on arrival. We do appreciate your taking the time to say farewell when leaving, but understand if you have a very early/late flight or ferry--just let us know! Keys may be slipped through our mail slot in the house we will point out to you. We're down the side through the bamboo--not at the front.
Schedules and weather permitting, there may be an opportunity to share a coffee/tea or libation in the adjacent gardens. Otherwise, we provide you with privacy and do not intrude.
Departing guests who leave the suite as close to the condition provided as possible get 5 stars for "cleaning" in the post-stay reviews. The system means that a "not very clean" rating will affect your overall rating on the site.
Please focus on general cleaning: vacuuming, cleaning kitchen & bathroom, organizing recycling (& taking that out if your departure is on a recycle day).
We'll strip beds & do laundry. Let us know of any issues that require attention before next arrivals. If unsure about HOW to clean something, please don't hesitate to ask—we'll help. Thx

We really enjoyed our 2 month stay. We loved the suite, the gardens, the neighbourhood and the location. It is a short walk to downtown and walking distance to so many things ( restaurants, theatre, Mayfair Mall, Hillside Mall, rec centres). Rob and John are wonderful hosts. We would highly recommend staying there.

Exactly what was promised. John and Rob were conscientious and responsive hosts. Character home with stained glass windows and a picturesque garden area in back. Kitchen was well-appointed. Lovely location on top of ridgeline in a very pleasant neighbourhood.

The house is lovely, the pictures do not do it justice. The porch overlooking the garden out the back of the house is quiet and a relaxing spot to enjoy your morning coffee. Inside, it is spacious and tastefully decorated. My friend and I studied at UVic over the summer and this was the perfect spot. The house is a five minute walk from the 4 bus stop which takes your directly to the unversity. It is also ~10 minutes on the bus to downtown. The neighbourhood itself is very friendly, safe and welcoming. John and Rob were lovely hosts, adjusting to our check-in/out times and offering us lots of local tips of things to do. A wonderful place to stay and a memorable part of our time in Victoria. Thank you

I had a fantastic 7 weeks in Victoria. John and Rob are great hosts. Place is centrally located, everything is no more than 15 minutes away. Walk to the grocery store, restaurants, and parks. Golf course is a 5 minute drive, as is the community center. Victoria is a beautiful city, walks by the water on Dallas/Beach roads are spectacular. Will definitely book here again. Now if the host can do anything about the sun….
