Convenient Location but Challenging Self Check-In and Heating Issues
We chose Alps Hostel Pfronten mainly because of its convenient location, as it is close to Hohenschwangau for visiting Neuschwanstein Castle the next day. The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful, more like a village atmosphere, which we enjoyed. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for us to open our suitcases easily. The bathrooms were also clean and well-maintained. Overall, the accommodation felt cozy and suitable for a short stay. The self check-in system was practical, and entering the building with the provided keycode was straightforward The hostel also provides a common area where guests can enjoy tea, coffee, snacks, and even breakfast on a self-service basis. Guests simply pay at the self-service cashier machine, which we found to be a nice and convenient concept.
It was quite difficult to find the hostel, especially since there were no staff on site at all to assist. Although we received a keycode for the main door, the instructions about where to collect the room keys were unclear. We only managed to find the keys after meeting another guest who kindly helped us. The building has three floors and no elevator. Our rooms were located on the 1st and 2nd floors, so carrying heavy luggage upstairs was quite inconvenient. The biggest issue was the heating system. It did not work properly, turning on and off randomly. In the two-bedroom suite, the heater did not work at all, which made the room uncomfortably cold during our stay in winter/January Overall: A reasonable option for its location and cleanliness, but the lack of staff support and the unreliable heating system need significant improvement.

Great spot for mountain lovers
The room was super comfy and clean with a huge bed and generally nice interior. The bathroom equipped with all you need (towels, hairdryer, toiletries). Great spot to stay if you want to go hiking in the mountains.
There is a restaurant in the building, but it seemed to be very crowded and despite the fact that the kitchen was supposed to be still open, the waitress wasn't really willing to find us a free space to have dinner (which would be highly appreciated as we just arrived after a very long trip).

Exceptional
Excellent location and overall service. The propety sent a WhatsApp to make check in more efficient. That was very helpful

Exceptional
This was fabulous value for money. The little village is cute and cozy and the hostel is right next to snow-shoeing / walking trails in a lovely setting and nearby all the important attractions, ski, etc. The onsite restaurant was delicious and the self-service snack and breakfast area was really well organised with french press coffee in the morning! The staff was also extremely helpful.
We had a great stay and absolutely nothing we disliked.
