About this house rental
Mark & Caroline invite you to their fabulous home from home. Located right on the edge of the medieval village, this beautiful Gite with heated swimming pool offers the best of both worlds. Stunning views & quiet location, while being a 10 minute walk into the quaint medieval village to get your freshly baked bread or newspaper; visit the bustling Friday market for fresh local produce or relax in one of the 8 restaurants for a leisurely lunch or supper without the worry of who has to drive home!
The space
Our location is on the edge of the village on high ground with views down over the village rooftops and beyond to the lot river and vineyards on the opposite bank.
The lane is very quiet and turns into an unmade track a short distance up the lane.
There are only about 12 houses, so it is very quiet. The apartment provides a comfortable stay for our guests and is ideal for 2 people.
There is ample parking for guest vehicles.
COVID19...... please note that our Gite is deep cleaned before you check in. We sterilise all kitchen and other surfaces such as tables, door handles, remote controls, floors and bathroom.
Bedding, towels etc are washed on a hot wash.
The beautiful swimming pool is maintained to the highest standards of hygiene.
The Lot valley is regarded to be the least populated department in France and we are situated on the very edge of a medieval village, so peace and tranquility is yours but village facilities are within walking distance.
The apartment is very well equipped with Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Nespresso machine, Microwave, Oven &hob, Fridge, Iron, Hair Dryer etc providing everything you need for a home from home. The shower room and toilet have recently been upgraded to a high standard. The bedroom is large with hanging for clothes and a seating area and dressing table. The kitchen/dining room is has a table and chairs as well as a sofa to offer comfortable seating. Patio doors open to:

There is a small quaint terrace with dining table and chairs.
The fenced garden includes a dining tale and chairs, BBQ and clothes line.
The pool is heated from 1st June to 1st October. The pool is shared with the other apartment. The pool area is big enough to allow guests to have their own sunbed. Parasols are also provided. There is a pool house which has a toilet and changing area a shady seating area out of the sun. There is easy entrance and exit from the pool 11.7m x 5.3m via the roman steps into the shallow end at 1m deep. For swimmers/adults, the other end is deep at 2m. There is an outside shower to rinse off any oils before swimming.
The pool is fenced to meet with statutory requirements and also has a pool alarm.
There are also many pretty areas to sit and relax in the garden areas around the house.

A welcome pack includes: a local red and white wine, some coffee capsules for the Nespresso machine, filter coffee, bread, toilet roll, washing up liquid and a few dish washer tablets to get you started.

Lovely property, perfect for our stay in Puy L'Évêque. Large bedroom, bathroom, living area with well equipped kitchen, outside garden and good sized clean pool.Caroline and Mark were perfect hosts and gave loads of useful advice on the locality but we're never intrusive. The property is located above the most gorgeous village (bastide) and is a shortish walk down but a steep walk back.There are plenty of places to visit close to and further afield. We loved exploring places like Monpazier, Cahors and a myriad of other small towns/bastides. Puy L'Évêque has a good number of restaurants nearby so you won't have far to travel for food. Fishing on the Lot was good for my other half who caught one pretty barbel then waited patiently for the rest of the day without success, quelle dommage. The small restaurant Chez Jenie provided the perfect antidote afterwards!Soirées in Puy L'Évêque (Wednesdays) and other local villages are a wonderful way to spend an evening. I would highly recommend this lovely gîte, we would return in a heartbeat.

We had a lovely relaxing week in this lovely gîte with very welcoming hosts. The swimming pool is wonderful to cool down and with the setting moon in the evening an unforgettable experience.
The only comment is that as we are six score years and ten (plus)…... we found the walk back from the village , which is uphill all the way, very hard and we found took at least 25 minutes, going down is only about 15 minutes it’s true…. To be fair it was very very hot . When using the car to go to the village we had no problems parking.

A very well presented Gite, clean, comfortable. Large enough for the 2 of us with lovely outdoor space for breakfast and a drink last thing. Altogether, good value for the money paid.
