This Swiss Styled Cottage is perched at the top of a beautiful 10 acre property that overlooks the surrounding mountains and valley below. Located just 2 hours from Northern Virginia (DC) and 3 hours from Baltimore, MD this magical piece of heaven is perfect for those who love to paddle, hike, bike, horseback ride, fish, ski, antique or just lay back and decompress with a good book. Located in the Mill Gap area of Lost River, West Virginia, this property has expansive views, walkable land, 2 streams and 3 small bridges and your own Private Dog Park. Across the one stream is another meadow with a two storied bank barn. Our 'Lost River Swiss Cottage' is central to all that is happening in the Lost River Valley. The Lost River Farmers Market is below the Cottage (open on Saturday only) where you can grab great coffee, lunch and also sit on the patio and have a glass of wine / beer. One mile down Mill Gap is the small hamlet of Lost River where you can visit the local museum, Craft Cooperative, Lost River General Store and Café or practice yoga at The Yoga Barn. Bike, Hike, or Paddle! The George Washington National Forest is minutes away, Rock Cliff Lake with its sandy beaches or The Lost River State Park with its beautiful pool, hiking trails, and stables await your visit. Come to Lost River !!! Our cottage has 3 bedrooms; one king and two queens. Our newly appointed interior is cozy and fresh with approximately 2000 square feet of country living. You have use of the entire house (both levels). The upper level has 2 bedrooms, bath, sitting area and a kitchen. The lower level has a queen bedroom, full bath and you have 2 sitting areas on that level. We have an apple TV for all guests to use and we have fiber optic that is available for your use while staying in our Cottage.

Spacious home with huge screened in porch and incredible view in a quiet location. Comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. Lovely Saturday market at the bottom of the hill where you can grab breakfast or lunch while your dog enjoys the fenced dog park. The hosts are very friendly and graciously accommodated a special request for us at the last minute.My only recommendations for improvement would be a washer/dryer accessible to guests and a better kitchen (cabinets are worn, there is no dishwasher or disposal, and the pots and pans are very disorganized due to lack of space). Would also recommend arriving in daylight as the driveway is hard to find in the dark. Would also recommend an AWD car if you have one due to the steep gravel road and steep dirt/gravel driveway.

The screened in porch was amazing! We lived out there and fully enjoyed all 10 acres of the property. New bathrooms and good mattresses! Kitchen a tad sparse but workable.

*** BEWARE ***THIS PROPERTY REQUIRE POWER SUPPLY AND ANY OUTAGE YOU ARE DOOMED FOR EVERYTHING.(NO CELL SIGNAL, NO WIFI, NO WATER, NO HEATING) INQUIRE AND CONFIRM REFUND POLICY IF YOU NEED TO CHECK OUT EARLY DUE TO NO POWER While views are great. This property require electricity for everything !!. YES. You need electricity even to take a dump !!. We stayed for 3 nights and power went down middle of second day. Since only way of communication is wifi (down due to power), We have to drive 7 miles out to make phone call. Since water comes out of well (No intermittent storage) you need power for water. While we understand wifi not working, Water not being there is a shock and surprise. When we told the owner, all we got is "yeah you need power to get the water from well" in a condescending tone. This left us very unhappy and no choice but to leave the property almost a day early.My SummaryPros1, Great location2. Clean property3. Amazing views and serenity.Cons1. Horrible kitchen with no dishwasher2. WiFi has no back up. Power out. You have no way to communicate.3. No back up water tank. Power out you have no water.4. Unfriendly owner.
