About this house rental
Come and have a relaxing getaway at our cottage located on the historic New River with picturesque Grayson County VA as your backdrop. Whether you are looking for a romantic get away, family vacation, relaxation away from the hustle and bustle, or an outdoor adventure, our house on the New River is the place for you! Be sure to bring your fishing gear and take advantage of some great small mouth bass or try your luck at a musky! Located on a working cattle farm that has been in our family for generations, your closest neighbors may be a few cows grazing in the pasture or a couple laying chickens running around. The wrap around front porch is a great place to take in the beautiful views of the New River or just sip coffee as you watch the sun come up (or set for you late sleepers).
The cottage is fully furnished with linens and towels provided. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you would need to cook in or you can take advanatage of some of the great restaurants in the area. A gas grill is provided to help you enjoy those great summer evenings as you get dinner ready.
Access to a large private river lot comes with the cottage and is within a short walk or can be driven to (weather permitting).
Check in is at 4:00 pm and check out is at 10:00 am.

1 - Day Bed with Trundle
Pets are welcome as long as they are under control and are good with other animals. A $40 pet fee will be charged per visit for up to two pets. An additional fee of $25 per pet after that will be charged. As mentioned above, the cottage is located on a working cattle farm and the adjoining pastures may have cattle in them when you visit.
Inflatable tubes (4) are provided with the house for some lazy day floating on the New River along with Corn Hole Boards for the competitive folks. We also have an outdoor fire pit to help you enjoy those late evenings soaking up the peace and quiet with a few marshmallows. Additionally, 2 bikes are provided if you prefer to take a scenic ride along the river.
Other Area Attractions:
Our cottage is located within a short drive of many of the areas natural attractions including, Grayson Highlands State Park, Mt. Rogers (Highest peak in VA), The Virginia Creeper Trail, The New River Trail and Matthews State Park. All of these areas are great for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding for you outdoor adventure enthusiasts. You can also check out the areas rich musical heritage via The Crooked Road Music Trail, The Blue Ridge Music Center, and the Galax Fiddlers Convention.

Clean, well- maintained, spacious and comfy. Me, my wife and little yorkie felt right at home. Felt good farm vibes and I enjoyed just watching the river go by and remembering canoeing down that river more years ago than I have toes and fingers. The kind of hosts you hope for and are grateful for. Would definitely come back as lots of Mother Nature blessings are within easy reach along with a friendly real coffee shop in town. Three very satisfied visitors.

Beautiful house on the New River Have been coming to 5 years now and hopefully more in the future. Love the scenery and the River! Great fishing!

Owner & family are super nice! Our stay was fine but we won’t stay again. :( It’d be helpful for families to understand the layout of the home before deciding to stay. In order to access the 1 bathroom, you have to walk through either of the 2 bedrooms. There is no central air which is fine, except one of the listed sleeping spaces has no window fan or ceiling fan so it was extremely hot. The provided fan (after asking) was tiny & didn’t fit the outlets. The ac unit in the 2nd bedroom crackles & disrupts sleep. The kitchen was missing some key items for simple cooking. And it’s good for families to understand that access to the river is not directly across from the house. It’s down the road. The trundle bed in the living room is super squeaky. Finally, I don’t think the house was cleaned by a professional. The owner is super nice so I’m sure the family does the cleaning but given the cost, it’s disappointing to find left over hairs, etc. So it wasn’t terrible but if we had known some things we wouldn’t have stayed there.
