About this apartment rental

The house was built in 2006, over the remains and in the style of a historical farm and a 5x10 mt (16x32 feet) pool was added in 2018. At only 50 meters from the medieval walls of the town, it stands at the Center of an estate featuring aged oaks, walnut trees, olive trees, and fruit orchards. The owners, Paola and Giovanni, live in Davis, California (USA) and love coming to Todi for their vacations with their 3 children. During the rest of the year the apartment is available for renting.
The house is composed of two fully independent apartments: one is on the ground floor and the other is on the first floor also available for renting.
The house has outdoor parking space, quite unique feature for a house in Todi.
Peaceful and secluded, the house is very conveniently located near the historic center of Todi. It provides the ideal location for day-trips to places of very high artistic, historical, natural and religious interest. In less than one hour drive guests can reach Orvieto, Perugia, Spoleto, Assisi (St. Francis), Spello, Cortona, Trevi, Lake Trasimeno, the Carsulae Roman Ruins, Arezzo (Piero della Francesca Frescoes), Norcia, Cascia and many other Umbrian and Southern Tuscan Towns (Siena is 90 minutes by car, Florence and Rome are 2 hours ). Also within one hour drive there are exceptional naturalistic sites such as “Cascata delle Marmore” (the largest waterfalls in Italy), Monti Sibillini and several natural parks.

We had a lovely stay at this apartment in Todi! The views from the bedrooms and pool are stunning and the apartment is situated close to the medieval walls of the city. Adele was very responsive and so helpful in recommending restaurants etc - we had a lovely stay and definitely recommend to others!

This property is beautiful and the holy grail of places in this part of the world - uninterrupted views of the countryside and walking distance to medieval town full of restaurants and historic buildings. We enjoyed the calm atmosphere of the area. It was a very beautiful location and less crowds. Adele was a great host and made us feel very welcomed. The apartment was nicely furnished. The table on the patio was a favorite location for relaxing. It is a great place to stay with a car. The parking is convenient and taking day trips in Umbria was easy from the location. I would definitely stay there again if I was in Umbria.

We were very satisfied with our stay for three weeks. Our host, Adele, was outstanding and provided very helpful information. The property was both very comfortable and convenient to accessing other points of interest in Umbria. There was a parking area close by to take the funicular or bus to the center of Todi. We would love to return in the future if our plans bring us back to Umbria.

The place was exactly as described in the listing and perfect for our family of 4. The house was perfectly located just outside the walls of Todi. We stayed here for a month and it was a great base to explore the many beautiful towns in Umbria. We also day tripped into Florence and Rome. When we weren’t touring around we enjoyed a lovely walk into Todi and afternoons by the beautiful pool. Adele was so helpful and made our stay super comfortable. We recommend a car to explore the surrounding towns and getting to the big grocery store at the bottom of the hill but not necessary for exploring Todi. Can’t wait to come back one day.

Our party of 4 adults stayed a week on our first trip to Umbria. Todi was the perfect location. The property is in a delightful and peaceful location, set in really nice gardens and spacious pool with recliners and decking. 10 minute walk to the entrance to the the historic part of Todi and another 10 minute to reach the main piazza. The apartment was the lower part of a very nice villa which was nicely presented,with a great covered outside area where we mostly had meals. Whilst it was an apartment, it felt like a private villa with nice views from the windows. Spacious, good quality,well equipped, well maintained and very clean. Had everything we needed. Adele the owner host was charming, very responsive and helpful. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending this accommodation and Todi. Thanks Adele.!

This was a delightful property furnished with everything needed for a comfortable stay and with lovely grounds, splendid views and a good swimming pool. The particular attraction for us was having a property with parking but also within walking distance of the historic town of Todi and its many restaurants and attractions. Adele was a very helpful hostess and there was good communication throughout.

This was the last of three properties we stayed at in Umbria. It was everyone's favorite. We stayed there for four nights at the end of April and easily could have stayed there for a month. The town of Todi is easily accessible. Adele and family are so hospitable and are a model of how a VRBO host should be. You can probably read in the other reviews how great the property is which is all true. I will say that the driveway is a bit hairy going down the first time, but after a couple times it's not a problem. Actually, the hillside that the property is on provides fabulous views of the surrounding country. There is a picture-perfect pool and gazebo in the olive tree orchard. We will certainly be back. It would a great place to go for a week with friends. Thanks Adele and family for making this a great place!

So glad we found this place during our time in Umbria. It's in the countryside with wonderful views and olive trees galore. The apartment was very spacious and spotlessly clean. It was perfect for the 2 couples. We also had a chance to enjoy the pool....very refreshing. This property was close to the town centre and Orvieto was a 30 minute drive and well worth seeing. Our hostess Adele was wonderful, she was very helpful in recommendations. She lives in a separate house on the property but respected our privacy. We highly recommend this VRBO.

The house is just below Todi - 200 meters to citygate and 500 meters up to center of town through narrow streets and old buildings - tough but worth it as Todi is charming and have good restaurants. The house itself is spacious with all what you need (well equiped kitchen, great bed, 3 bathrooms, nice outdoor sitting area) so you can easily stay there for an extended period. But the best is the fantastic views towards the hilly landscape. Great from the nice chairs at your private space behind the house even better if you walk 30 meters through the olive field to the terasse there. Nice pool with good size for swimming. Adele takes good care of you - ask her for restaurant recommendations -

A truly delightful villa and an ideal base to explore the region. A wonderfully private location, yet just a short walk/drive from the heart of Todi. Fresh figs from the surrounding trees & panoramic views of the Umbrian countryside from the magnificent pool - what more can you ask for!!! Adele is a superstar, and made us feel instantly at home – nothing was too much for her. When events beyond our control occurred, Adele (with her perfect English) went above and beyond to help us out. We returned home refreshed and recharged - thank you!!!

We loved our apartment just outside of Todi. It had everything we needed to cook in and was close to many restaurants in Todi if we chose to go out. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and sat among olive and fig trees. The grounds were gorgeous as was the pool. Adele was helpful with everything we needed. Todi is close to the center of Umbria so it was very convenient to drive to the many wonderful towns and villages.

We spent the most wonderful week at Il Gelso. The apartment was superb and everything that we could ever have needed was there inside. Two things made our holiday really special though: the outside space and Adele, the owner. The pool area really was amazing and we swam everyday - and most evenings too. The views were beautiful, out across the olive grove and to the mountains in the distance. It truly was such a peaceful place to read, relax and swim. Adele was so kind and courteous; she gave us great restaurant ideas and even booked a table for us one evening, but she was always so discreet too and let us just get on with enjoying our holiday. Todi was a great base for sightseeing; there are so many lovely towns and villages within an hours drive. We did, however, think that Todi was the best of them all, and to be able to walk there (uphill!) to look at the shops, monuments and to just sit in a cafe and watch the world go by was such a pleasure. I can only think of positive things to say about Il Gelso and Todi - going there for a week of relaxation was the perfect end to our holiday in Italy.

Stayed at Adele's property for almost 3 weeks with my family. As it turns out one of our favourite family vacations. Todi is a great town with lots of amenities. Other sites within Umbria are just a half hour away which sent us exploring every day. Over the years we have stayed in many self catering units this unit and the location is ideal. Adele is always on hand to help she is the best host I've stayed with and would not hesitate to stay again or to recommend her accommodation. Thank you Adele for a great experience.

Beautifull location in the middle of olive trees and with an outstanding view to the valley. I loved opening the bedroom windows in the morning, admiring the beautifull landscape kilometers away and listening the birds singing. What would be a better way to start your day. The location is absolutely perfect, no neighbours and 10 mins walk to the Todi center. You get good exercise climbing uphill to the center. Several good restaurants to choose from. And finally big, big thanks to Adele, who made our stay perfect. She made us feel welcome from the very first moment and during our stay. Adele even helped us to purchase truffels, which we carried home frozen. We will be able to come back to the umbrian spirit by cooking Pasta Tartuffo at home!

The location of the house is Perfect, letting us walk right into Todi through a lesser traveled access arch and revel in the amazing preserved streets, arches, and alleyways of this stunning city. THe apartment was spacious and very high quality, appointed with everything someone might need for living or cooking. We felt so at home here we can’t wait to get back. My friends and I visited Todi for a wedding in the area. The city is beautiful and off the beaten path a bit which makes it even more special. The house is gorgeous and on an actual olive grove with a big fig tree in the front and a beautiful pool on the property. But, the best part was the host Adele! She was so open, gracious, and accommodating. She and her husband even drove us to the wedding, so we didn’t have to worry about having our car! Can’t wait to return.

You are in a well-equipped comfortable house situated among olive trees overlooking a beautiful panorama, and still quite near a town with everything you may need in your everyday life (and what a town: Todi!!!). This is a beautifully designed, comfortable and well located home for a memorable vacation

We found Casa del Gelso to be a perfect spot and exactly what we wanted and needed for our 2 week stay in Umbria in late October. The house is a new, very well built house, fully supplied and stocked with everything you need in the kitchen for snacks and meals. Adele, whose beautiful family owns the property and which she manages, lives right next door and was extremely helpful and attentive to our needs. Everything that appeared in the listing was accurate, if not even better. The house is very well maintained, clean and comfortable. The Wi-Fi was excellent and dependable. Not only was Todi a nice town to visit, with excellent access to the center, but there were also many other enjoyable towns within close proximity for an enjoyable day-trip. When at Casa del Gelso, we enjoyed the time in the lower level of the house, with a comfortable kitchen/living area, two bedrooms and two nice, clean and full bathrooms. With other comforts such as the washing machine in the lower level, the very nice and clean outdoor table and chairs under the front canopy, the beautiful view of the valley and the family olive orchard from our bedroom and the 2 bathroom windows, the fireplace (which we used one chilly evening) and the hospitality of Adele and her family, we felt that we found exactly what we had hoped for. There is an excellent supermarket in Todi and a larger EMI store only a few miles away where anything you could possibly need can be purchased. The restaurants in Todi , as well as the nearby cities, were terrific. Adele provided us with an information booklet summarizing, among many other things, the various restaurants, trattorias, etc, their price range and types of meals, which was very helpful. We enjoyed having our main meal in one of the trattorias or such during the lunch period and would snack in Casa del Gelso in the evenings on wine, cheese, olives, prosciutto, fruit and such. We rented a car and found it very helpful, especially getting around in these small, Italian towns. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa del Gelso and would highly recommend it to our friends and family. Thank you, Adele and all your family for a wonderful 2 weeks. You made us feel very welcome and like a member of the family.

We along with two other couples rented both apartments and had an absolutely outstanding experience. While the description of the property is very accurate, the property far exceeded our expectations!! The location is perfect with incredible views. It is also ideal for day trips to all of the wonderful towns in Umbria and the areas attractions. We were able to visit Perugia, Torgiano, Deruta, Orvieto, Spoleto, Trevi, Nardi, Montefalco along with 3 wineries and area festivals all within an hours drive. The location is also within a 10 minute walk to Todi which allowed quick access to the town during the day and evening and yet in a very peaceful quiet setting surrounded by hundreds of oil trees. Todi itself has incredible history and is well worth spending time to learn about its thousands of years of existence. The 12 nights we spent there just flew by and we all wished we could even stay longer While the above information would provide a very strong base for a great stay, the owners of the property added an incredible bonus to our experience. Adele and her family members were alway available and added great insights to the history of the area, the production of olive oil and the Italian culture. We are extremely grateful for the time and interactions we had with them. We strongly recommend the property to others and we are sincerely hopeful that we will be able to return in the future. We would also like the thank Adele and her family for the opportunity to stay at their home, sharing time with them and getting to form friendships with them. We've traveled to Italy many times over the last 20 years and this house and location was one of our favorites. My husband is a professional artist and he originally chose to stay in Todi because of it's strategic location. It is central to some of the prettiest country in Italy. Casa Del Gelso is ideally situated in Todi. The view from the house is incredible and it is conveniently located just out of the old city walls. We brought our 4 children and they loved playing in the olive groves. It was a great house for a family with children but it would also be a wonderful place for a couple or a group of friends. The house had all the amenities we needed and the Peri family were very helpful in making us feel right at home. They even helped us locate a local pediatrician when our daughter became ill. We stayed at the house for 5 weeks and wanted to stay forever. In the past we have never returned to the same European location but this is one we would definitely like to come back to.

Der Standort Casa del Gelso ist einfach ideal als Ausgangspunkt: für Tagestouren, Halbtagestouren, für eine kleine Passeggiata in die Stadt (sehr gut zu Fuß zu erreichen). Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und wurden von Adele und Guido so nett empfangen und aufgenommen. Casa del Gelso ist ein liebevoll errichtetes und eingerichtetes großzügiges Haus, das an Komfort nichts missen lässt und dessen Lage eine gelungene und optimale Verbindung zwischen dem Wunsch nach einem Aufenthalt auf dem Land und der Nähe zur Stadt bietet. Man fühlt sich wie Zuhause. Wir werden gerne wiederkommen.

This was our third year staying at Casa del Gelso. It has become our home away from home! The house is fully equipped to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The Peri family are so hospitable and welcoming and this adds to the sense of coming home. We have spent many years in Umbria and particularly the region around Todi and Perugia and each year its magic and mystery entices us back. Fino al prossimo anno!

We had a WONDERFUL stay at Casa del Gelso in Todi !!! The home WAS EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED !!!! Before booking Giovanni was very helpful as was Adele prior to arrival. The on-site manager Guido and his associate Adriano went above and beyond in their assistance both upon arrival and during our two week stay !! The home was lovely and a perfect home base from which to explore both Todi and the nearby hill-towns of Umbria. A thoroughly enjoyable PERFECT vacation ! THANK YOU ALL !!!

We have recently returned from a gorgeous 16 day stay at Casa del Gelso with our 16 month old daughter. The stay could not be faulted - from the perfect location, gorgeous views & spotless/beautifully equipped villa..we could not be happier! Todi itself is a beautiful town and is situated in an ideal location for exploring Umbria & Tuscany. My parents rented the upstairs apartment which was ideal - whilst all living together we had the privacy of our own places coupled with shared grounds in which to enjoy! I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to my best friend!
