The Azul Fives hotel/condo on the beach located in Playa del Carmen, Mexic

Our recent stay at Azul Fives was a fantastic experience! I can say that that my family of 6 would love to return to this condo every year! The condo was set up perfectly for our family. There are 2 private areas to the condo which made it very nice for our family. The condo is very spacious and nicely decorated. It was extremely clean and the cleaning staff visited daily. It exceeded our expectations on many levels. The kitchen is stocked with the necessities only, so no extra clutter which was nice. If you are planning to do a lot of food preparation, you will definitely want to check with the property owner to see what is available. We would have liked to have a toaster to use. One of the reasons we chose this property is because of the option of choosing to go all inclusive for any portion of our stay. We opted to do 4 days of activities outside of the resort so paying for an all inclusive resort seemed unnecessary. We paid for 2 days of the all inclusive plan and we found it worth the cost of $60 for adults and $30 for children under 12. The food was great and quite kid-friendly. The Thai restaurant was excellent. You can choose the days you go all inclusive and there is no minimum days you need to participate in the plan. You can certainly pay to eat on the property too, but we opted to venture out to eat on the days we didn't participate in the all inclusive plan. We rented a car and parking was simple at the resort. The staff at the Fives club, where you check in, were fantastic. They helped make dinner reservations, which I highly recommend. They also informed us that we had the benefit of using one of the beds on the beach at no cost for one day of our stay. This was a great perk! The resort is big but there are staff driving golf carts that will take you where you want to go if you'd like. Fun daily activities and great nightly entertainment. Condo is steps to Lizards pool and restaurant which ended up being our favorite spot at the resort! Don't leave the resort without checking out the beautiful trail through the jungle. There are birds to watch, monkeys in the trees and even a wild pig who wanders about in an area not accessible by guests. The resort is located within 10-15 minutes of Xcaret, Xplor, 5th Avenue and the ferry to Cozumel. I would also recommend going to Akumal beach to snorkel with the sea turtles which is a 35 min drive. I would definitely recommend this condo to others and look forward to future stays.

I have to admit, I had no idea how 'grandiose' this property would be. The photos definitely didn't do justice to this rental. This is a fully-separated two-suite condo, meaning that your cardkey opens up one main door, and then it opens up two inner opposite-facing condo doors, which gives you fantastic privacy if you're renting this with family, kids, friends, other vacationers, etc. The one on the right is a huge luxurious master suite with full kitchen, open concept dining room and living room, half-bathroom. Great ice-cold air conditioning, marble floors and countertops, flat-screen TVs, huge back porch sliding door windows, and two sliding doors lead to a spectacular bedroom. Incredibly comfortable king-sized bed, huge soaker tub, massive shower, double sink bathroom and separate shower. All rooms have their own back porch area with lounge chairs. And the second suite, also very sumptuous, has two large beds and a generous-sized separate bathroom area, also with a huge shower and double sink area. I really didn't expect anything this fancy, and we were very impressed. The resort is also really great. The beach is fantastic, especially if you like playing in some good sized waves. Tons of very well-maintained pools, hammock gardens, and other spaces to explore. The resort is vast, and exploring it entirely will take some time, so bring good shoes! Everything looks new, and the landscaping is impeccable. Look for spider monkeys and other exotic critters in the jungle areas! Wonderful service - everybody there is extremely friendly and polite, and attentive to your needs. A large selection of restaurants on site (Sushi, Italian, Mediterranean, French, Mexican and more), and several bars and lounges, not to mention nightly activities on a rotating basis. We were here to attend a wedding, and the new bride and groom were thrilled with their choice. And the owners were very helpful throughout the process, extremely quick to respond to emails and questions. I absolutely recommend this rental, and I wouldn't hesitate to come here again. We have stayed in the same unit at this resort twice this year. We are a family of 5 and our kids love this property. The unit is located in the middle of the property, which is very convenient as the property is long (running inland) as opposed to wide (running beach front) so if you are at either end (beach or inland) there is a fair amount of walking. In the middle is perfect and centrally located to the breakfast buffets and lunch options as well as the beach. The unit is just steps away from the Lizards pool, which is our favorite spot in the resort. The bar staff at Lizards are amazing. You have access to the owners private butler. We didn't take advantage of this during our last visit, but maximized on it this time. She reserved the beach beds daily for us, brought us special snacks and drinks to our room, arranged all of our dinner reservations and just stayed in constant contact with us. The restaurant managers were calling us by name and shaking my husbands hands each day - FANTASTIC customer service at this resort. The food is amazing. It is as good as you would order in a restaurant at home and perfectly consistent from day to day. The kids meal options are great and the resort will also provide baby meals/Gerber Baby Food, if necessary, along with many other baby items (strollers, monitors, baby baths, bottle cleaners etc) The kids club is wonderful. We have taken advantage of nanny service both times. It is $20 US/hour and well worth the month. Many of the nannies/staff were the same from the last time we visited the property. They are so great with the kids and the activities are great. Tea parties, crafts, sports, pool/beach activities and more, plus a nightly themed party or movie night. The suite has recently been renovated. New tile, new couch, fresh coat of paint, new bath tub and updated bedding/pillows. The suite is large and very comfortable. My only complaint on the room is no duvets on the beds. The daily morning/turn down service is fabulous - excellent staff at all levels of the resort. The resort has become much busier with the expansion of rooms in the Essence. They are new and modern but VERY small and pools are fairly shaded and they are furthest from the beach. The Sudo's suite is a bit older, but with the reno, it looks great and you can't beat the location or special owners/butler service you will receive. I can't recommend the suite or resort enough!

We had an amazing holiday at Azul Fives. The food was fabulous, service was great and the child Care facility was outstanding. We have kids 7, 3 and 1 and having a kids club (4 and up) with nannies abailable for hire for our 2 little ones simply MADE our trip! We spent 2 glorious hours each morning on our own while our kids were in the loving care of the ladies at azulitos. We don't have any childcare at home normally, so I think it speaks highly of the staff that my kids were so happy to and comfortable to stay each morning (and sometime in the evenin too, so we could enjoy a quiet dinner!) The room had great access to the pool, so we were able to put out boys down for a nap several of the afternoons while we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. Having the extra space of a 2 bedroom suite worked really well. We definitely want to return!
