Fantastic !

Breakfast more than sufficient, and adapted to everyone’s taste. Ideal location to explore Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland. The Bothy at Ivy Cottage provides everything needed for perfect holiday. We also enjoyed Fearga’s warm hospitality. She is a wonderful host who did everything, and more, to make our holiday as comfortable as possible.

Wonderful stay

The Bothy was in a lovely location and was a perfect little spot to stay. We couldn't have been looked after better and it was just what we needed for a break. All the amenities you could need, great little breakfast and a friendly atmosphere. Absolutely would stay again.

A cosy and private place

A cosy and private place in the middle of the countryside with a beautiful view. Located nearby Haltwhistle with many options for meals and drinks. Hadrians wall can be reached within a few minutes. Fully equipped. Individual breakfast considering all wishes after prior notification. Comfy beds. Fearga and Graham are such friendly and open minded hosts. They met all our needs and provided us with many helpful information. 12 points if it were an ESC ranking. 👌😇

The breakfast was a generous and premium quality spread "made to order" for us and delivered to our room in advance so we could enjoy at our leisure in beautiful cottage or on our private porch overlooking the valley. Just lovely!

Very welcoming hosts! Helpful advice on how to fit in all of our plans for the area. Received detailed information prior to arriving. Breakfast options and portions were ample, quality food. We took them up on the BBQ offer and with good weather thoroughly enjoyed cooking outdoors. The actual bothy was better in person than in photos. Good products used for the bed linen, towels and dishes etc. Well designed for a small space. Quality and cosy! We loved the cows greeting us through the window in the morning.

Bloody lovely

What an adorable place to stay. Everything about our stay was perfect, just the right amount of seclusion, but still close to great places to eat, walk etc. The Bothy itself was lovely, everything you need to get away from it all. Out hosts Fearga and Graham were lovely also, always making sure we had what we needed. Fearga also surprised us with a bottle of bubbly and some chocolates as we were there for our 25h wedding anniversary. Thank you again for that Fearga. The surrounding countryside is also gorgeous, we have certainly fallen in love with Northumberland and will hopefully be back soon. Mark and Sharon.

A lovely cottage in a very good location with helpful hosts and a really good breakfast.

The Bothy is a lovely cottage to spend a few days at. It is located within a short drive to Hadrian's Wall, so it was perfect for our visit. The hosts are very welcoming and kind. The cottage has everything you could want after a day's walk on the Wall. The breakfast was generous and prepared for our stay.

Exceptional

The building, Sheppard's hut, was warm and cozy. The bed was comfortable and the facilities up to sate. The proprietors were friendly and responsive. They provided little extras that made the stay that much better. We were treated like long lost family. The location is the perfect spot for the exploration of The Sill and Hadrian's Wall. Totally Exceptional!

Our stay, to mainly look at Hardrian's Wall locations, was made very pleasant by our hosts.

The property was small, but this in fact added to its cosiness. Its location, close to the town of Haltwhistle, gave a view over the surrounding fields. Being a short distance up a minor road, it was not subject to traffic noise.

Gorgeous place in a beautiful setting with fantastic quick access to endless walking and pub grub

This is a lovely little Bothy, beautifully furnished and decorated, and very cosy to stay in. It has it's own garden with views and feels very rural although it is just a short drive to the nearest town with a plethora of pubs, restaurants and shops. We were supplied with a hugely generous breakfast and great coffee each morning, which we enjoyed in our own time at the Bothy table with views out of the window. We intend to go back in the summer to take advantage of the garden and the glorious views, but the cold , clear weather of January allowed for star gazing at night and on our last day we woke to a winter wonderland of glistening snow. Priceless. Our hosts were wonderful and could not have been more helpful. A great spot for walking 'the wall' or exploring both Northumberland or Cumbria and their lovely market towns.

Brilliant stay in a very cosy Bothy. Highly recommended.

The Bothy is very cosy accommodation and situated just outside of Haltwhistle. We were met by the owners Fearga and Graham on our arrival, who showed us around the facilities and told us of the local amenities. It's a single room with separate bathroom and shower, but the bed is large and soft and you're guaranteed a quiet, peaceful night. The breakfast included in the price is more than adequate and plentiful. The location is ideal and within short travelling distances of Hadrian’s Wall and the many Roman ruins and museums, plus many other attractions. We had a fantastic stay there and will definitely be going back.

The only shortcoming is because it's a single room building it lacks of bit of storage space, other than that, no issues.

A Lovely, cosy welcoming cute cottage.

It was small cosy and comfortable, everything that we needed to explore the local area. We ate at a few of the places that the host recommended, which were excellent. We visited many parts of the historic Hadrian's Wall. The Bothy was very well situated for this. We had fantastic views which were appreciated. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts.

The Bothy and our hosts met and exceeded the descriptions given when booking, and merits a return

The ambiance provided by the Bothy was superb, and made by the hosts who could not have done more to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. The quality of the Bothy and the facilities were excellent, and the breakfast provided exceeded our expectations in both quantity and quality. Being situated almost directly on to the A69 the Bothy is ideally located for exploring Hadrians Wall and the surrounding environs, and accessing a large variety of dining facilities to suit most tastes.

The perfect place to stay (based on my experience)

We had an amazing time at The Bothy. The cleanliness and attention to detail was amazing. Fearga and Graham were exceptional hosts. They couldn’t do any more to make us feel welcome and at ease during the current situation. The location of The Bothy is perfect. We had the bonus of nice weather to be able to make the most of the BBQ so we could sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet. We couldn’t recommend a stay at The Bothy enough and will definitely be booking another trip there again.

A cute little bothy in a wonderful location, with perfect hosts. The ideal place for a short getaway

It's taken me ages to get around to writing a review but I felt that I totally had to. Fearga and Graham were unbelievably welcoming and accommodating and really went the extra mile. I rocked up on my bike and was provided with a secure lockup which I could use at any time of the day or night. I was only there for two or three days, but the breakfast would have kept me going for a whole week! The location is brilliant too; far enough away from everything to make it feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, yet close enough that everything you need is only a short trip into town. There is a handy off road route about 100 yards from the property which takes you all the way back into the centre of town. There are some great riding routes right outside the front door, and even better ones if you head towards Kielder. Everything was very COVID safe, and there is just about everything you need inside to be totally self sufficient.

I can't think of anything which could be improved. The only thing which would make it awesome is a small log burner, but we have already discussed that one :)
