This Pet-Friendly, Cedar Forest Retreat with lake view of Murphy Bay 1000MB WIFI

We had a wonderful stay. Murphy’s Retreat was the perfect home base for our holiday weekend adventures. The view from the deck is stunning and the huge fire pit and reclining chairs made for a perfect spot to hang out in the evenings. The kitchen was stocked with all the supplies you could need, the beds were comfortable, and the home was nice and clean. The location was great and close to all sorts of activities including Dover bay, the farmers market, city beach park and more. We loved watching the neighbors fireworks. Best of all, we appreciated being able to bring our dogs along. Will highly recommend this home to friends.

Very comfortable cabin. Beautiful place to relax and catch up with family who lives nearby. Loved the grill, fire pit, deck...everything! Erin and Thomas were very accommodating, and we were able to add an extra day to our stay. It was also wonderful to have our sweet doggo enjoy a vacation with us.

The property itself was just beautiful and very well appointed. Everything we needed was there. The problem was it didn’t have direct access to the lake, which was supposed to be offset by being able to take the kayaks up the road to the public lake access. Maybe the owners didn’t know but that lake access is closed for the entire 2025 season. That was the only downside. It’s a beautiful place and for the place and the surroundings itself. I would absolutely recommend it. We had a great time together!

Perfect spot to stay with pets. Equipped with everything you need. Quiet location with amazing views, fire pit, and beds.

Came to meet our new granddaughter who lives in Ponderay. This is a true gem, such a great little cabin with beautiful views of the lake. Enjoyed the fire pit and roasting marshmallows with the grandkids. Can't wait to stay again was the perfect home away from home. Thank you for such a wonderful time

All great except difficulty with lock

Loved our stay at Murphy’s Retreat. Comfy and quiet evenings on the large deck and fire pit. Everything you could ever need for food prep (although we elected to eat out—many places to choose from). Great place for the pups to hang with us. Lots of recommendations from hosts on places to go and things to do in the area. More amenities than a five star hotel. Place was spotless, obviously well cared for. Would highly recommend, well worth the price.

This cabin is roomy, comfortable and equipped with everything you can imagine for a fun stay. The view of the lake through the trees is awesome. There is plenty of room for a group of eight and the owners are beyond gracious. We had a great time!

We absolutely loved this property, it was very well stocked with everything you need. Great value for all this property offers. You can tell the hosts are welcoming and really care about your stay. Very clean and comfortable - the kitchen and main living space was perfect size for our group of 3. If there was one area for improvement it is that we were not fans of the queen bunk beds - it felt claustrophobic since one side was pushed up against the wall, and very limited head room - but the mattresses were very comfortable. Amazing outdoor spaces - decks and patio. Overall the property was one of the best we've ever stayed at - highly recommend.

The cabin was even nicer than the pictures and our hosts responded to us quickly. We are already planning another trip to this beautiful cabin!

We had a great stay... very comfortable retreat for us. Only wish the rain would have stayed away so we could have enjoyed the deck more.

Great little cabin that met all of our needs. Loved staying here for the week. Having Schweitzer to ski 25 miutes away, the town to hang out in, and being able to drive to Coeur d'Alene for one day.

House looks better than the pics show. Really well taken care of and stocked. Great view of lake and close to town but totally private at same time.

Our stay was very relaxing. As I noted with our survey above the hosts were exceptional at communicating and their property was perfect for our family.

We stayed here with our two dogs and it was the perfect spot! Conveniently located- just a short drive away from beaches, trails, good food and all the adventure Sandpoint has to offer. The place was spotless too! We loved the map of the lake that the owner put on the wall which describes all the locations to visit and where dogs are welcome. If we make it back this way, we will certainly stay here again. Thank you to the owners for working hard to make this such a wonderful place to stay with our “kids” (pups).

Beautiful setting. Plenty of amenities provide by hosts. Fabulous outside decks and fire pit. Not much of a view of lake but at least a peekaboo. Would definitely stay here again!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Murphy Retreat. The house was clean and we appreciated the special touches left by the owners such as the welcome cookies and farm fresh eggs. The owners were very thoughtful in regards to the needs of their guests, assuring that the house was filled with anything we may have needed during the duration of our stay. Beautiful setting, quiet neighborhood and centralized location. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a great stay to our trip to Sandpoint. The location was great and the property was as described. I would stay here again and recommend this place to folks as well.

Great property for laid back people. It was great in the winter without a lot of the cabin’s perks because of the weather. It would be even better in the summer.

This is our second stay at Murphy's Retreat as we enjoyed it it so very much the first time. It is immaculate, well thought out/equipped and very convenient. What a treat for it to be dog friendly too!

The communication with the owners was perfect. The instructions for checking in and info about the house were overwhelming in an e mail. You could just send simple check in info and then have a notebook at the VRBO that people can use as needed. The kitchen and living room were somewhat remodeled and nice. There was an immense amount of food in the refrigerator which was kind of gross and left us very little room for our food. The bedrooms and bathroom were very old and beat up. The shower was great with a hand held shower that you could use to wash a dog of toddler if needed. The interior was ok clean but there were places of spilled drinks. They outdoor space was gorgeous. Unfortunately we were gone hiking during the day so we did not get to enjoy the outdoor space, but the BBQ worked great. The outside trash cans did not have lids and were overflowing with trash. I'm glad no critters got into them. Over all a great place to stay with you furry family.

The check in process was very easy and communication with the owners was great. Some parts of the house are dated (the bathroom), however it appears that the owners are renovating over time because the kitchen was very modern. There is no lake access and very little view. The pictures make it appear that it's tucked away in woods. It's right off of the road and among many other homes. That being said, there is still plenty of privacy and patio space because of the trees/bushes. It's also very quick drive into Sandpoint.

Great place to stay

Our overall stay was good, but I feel like I should bring a few things up to the owners because I would want to know! There is a major ant problem inside and outside of the home. Our youngest son had ants falling on him from the top bunk in the 2nd bedroom and ended up sleeping on the couch because it was so bad. All 3 boys had bites by the time we left on Wednesday. There is also a lot of bees, which made it hard to be outside. I realize this is out of your control but based on how many bees there were there may be some nests that need to be removed. The garbage can outside was stuffed full when we got there, we did take it up to the end of the driveway Tuesday night but there was no room for the one bag of garbage we created during our stay. Also, it’s amazing that you provide kayaks and paddle boards for renters to use and we were really looking forward to getting the kids out, but we didn’t realize when booking that there wasn’t lake access within walking distance. Had that been clear in the listing we would have brought our truck. As it turned out we we were not able to get on the water. To be fair it was in the information we received when we got the door code. Again, not trying to be rude in any way just thought I would share these things for the future. Thank you! Luci McKean

Great little house with huge deck area to hang out on. Just a few minute drive to beaches. Nice view. Can fit a family comfortably or a group of friends. Had everything we needed.

Beautiful, relaxing Fourth of July stay.

Wish we had booked this house for longer. Perfect outdoor area for dining and roasting s’mores. You can tell the owners are awesome by the detailed map with all the need to know info provided on the wall. Love that it was dog friendly.
