Very enjoyable, comfortable and relaxing stay.

We liked the way the hotel was decorated, using railway memorabilia as the main focus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities within the room were excellent. Proper coffee and milk. A nice change from UHT milk you usually get. We enjoyed the breakfast as well. Lots to chose from, especially for my wife who’s a vegetarian. Many thanks

Hugely satisfying evidence of great project the young people are creating

All my scoring is based on an admiration of the YMCA project which I have known about since Beach Hotel project. The room exceeded expectations -- except I was unable to make the shower gel dispenser work, the staff were brilliant..again one needed to appreciate the project better to more easily accept how good it was. The room was great..had all we wanted. Shame there is no lounge..but it is a railway .transit hotel. I did us the gents downstairs and there was no toilet paper there .so that routine needs further checking.

I just love the hotel ...and no major thing I didn't like. It's a gem..and I'm sure will get even better if resources allow. Great to see 12 Bedrooms booked.

Good overnight stay in Taunton.

Good location opposite the railway station with restaurants and pubs close by. Clean and well presented with tea, coffee, water and biscuits provided. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Probably better to have an earlier breakfast sitting as by the 9am sitting, pastries and breads were not available. A good breakfast would have justified the price point.

The staff were friendly and attentive. The location was perfect for my needs.

The price of a room keeps creeping up but there's an excellent breakfast to offset that. The bed mattress was not as comfortable as some other hotels I've stayed in.

Location excellent and breakfast very good. I know the staff are young but they were all a bit confused at breakfast and the young man looked like he hadnt showered for days and could do with a hair cut

A pleasant time and I look forward to visiting again :-)

Lovely breakfast with a lot of choices. I wasn’t happy with the room I was allocated at first but within two days I was swapped to a larger and more favourable room and the staff were very friendly and efficient. I will be visiting the hotel again in spring next year.

There was no fridge in the room which meant picking up fresh milk and water bottles from reception every day, to use the catering facilities.

A Great Western hotel across from the station should have decent railway-relevant classic artwork, not dreadful gaudy American impressionistic acrylics. No restaurant.

Small 15 room property with a very professional touch. Comfortable bed and good inroom facilities. Exceptionally cheerful and helpful staff.

Very convenient for the station - while still retaining a unique charm. Staff all very friendly and the room was comfortable. Easy walk into town for plenty of dinner options.

The vegan cooked breakfast left quite a lot to be desired! An effort was clearly being made - but someone needs to have a proper look at it...! A photograph of the attempt caused much hilarity on social media!

Very tired decor and facilities. No evening food or bar. Doors locked at 8pm (actually earlier) reliant on porter opening depending where they are at any time. Asked for avocado and poached egg on toast for breakfast - got a smear of something green on a piece of white half toasted bread with a half cooked egg, needless to say I left it and didn’t go to breakfast next day.

It pretty much met my expectations

I travelled to Taunton by train, to see a One Day cricket match at the County Ground. So the location was perfect. The staff were inexperienced but helpful. The room was clean and well appointed but lacked a chair. Breakfast was good.

Great location for us as we wanted to use the train which was opposite the hotel. The town centre was about 10 to 15 mins walk. Lots of eateries around the area. The room was comfortable and very clean. The check in and out was easy. A good size carpark around the side of the hotel. Excellent staff and service. Very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast too.It was refreshing to stay in a hotel that had so much history.

Fab location a little noisy outside the station but in actual fact we found it fascinating watching people on their travels and making up stories about where they were going

Great staff, a very nice place to stay en route to Cornwall

The property is spacious, clean, bright and we had a lovely view over the gardens. I was particularly pleased to know it was being used to help train apprentices, and all the staff were exceptionally good. The breakfast was very good, too.

It was just a bit too far for me to walk into town, but I do have a disability so I don’t think it’ll be a problem for most people. I expected it to be quite noisy because it’s directly opposite the station, but it was nice and quiet as our room was over the garden. Maybe some of the rooms overlooking the station will be noisier.

The location was excellent , close to the station and only a short walk into town. The staff were friendly

The breakfast could be improved on. I had to ask for milk as it had run out. The young staff spent a bit too much time talking to each other than attending to customers. My wife asked for fried egg, and it was overcooked with the yolk broken. Just a little more care and attention, please
