About this house rental
If you are looking for a quiet mountain retreat this is your spot. The home, on Eagle Lake, sits on 11 acres of land and has been in the family since the late 1800's. The original home built in 1891 was replaced with a modern camp/cabin in the 1960's and has been updated.
The views of the lake, mountains and of course the sunsets are breathtaking. Spend a day at historic Fort Ticonderoga and learn about the important role it played during colonial times.
If you love to kayak, hike, and swim Eagle Lake is the place to be. Quick access to the lakefront is by steps or a path. (both somewhat steep)
A day trip to Burlington Vermont to visit the Shelburne Museum or lunch and shopping in Lake Placid are always a treat. Montreal is 2-4 hours way by car or train--Amtrak has a stop in Ticonderoga. The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake is a must see as well.
An up to date kitchen, a large master bedroom and a great deck are just a few highlights. The downstairs also has 2 comfortable queen futons. Summer is lovely on the lake but don't miss out on the fall foliage--- see the beautiful autumn colors while cruising Lake Champlain on the Carillon, a 60 ft lake boat departing from Fort Ticonderoga.
While we are dog friendly (one), please do not leave your dog alone if you are away for the day. Pet fee is $50. Kindly keep pets off furniture or bedding and pick up yard waste. Cleaner will check for scratching and other damage upon departure. Please do a quick vacuum for shedding/fur in house. ***Waste pickup in yard is mandatory***

**MINIMUM STAY IS 7 nights during July and August **
Partial weeks ( or long weekends) are sometimes available after Labor Day to October 20.
PLEASE NOTE: We have internet access for WIFI calling but otherwise THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE at the house. House does have a landline. Maplefields, Black Watch Memorial Library and McDonalds in downtown Ticonderoga all have WIFI.
The driveway to the house (1/4 + mile from Route 74) is steep (2 hills) . Please park near garage not on lawn. NOTE THE LOCATION OF PROPERTY ON THE WEBSITE IS THE GENERAL AREA NOT SPECIFIC. We are 10-15 minutes from downtown Ticonderoga.
**Due to the quick turnover between rentals, we ask that guests bring along their own sheets & towels. If this is not an option, we can arrange for sheet & towel service for an additional fee of $100. **
The family also asks that our guests practice water conservation measures.

The cabin was charming and comfortable, and the view of the lake from the deck was lovely, especially at sunset.Once leaving the main road the drive up to the cabin could be better marked and can be challenging. An AWD vehicle isn't necessarily required, but strongly recommended. A FWD with low clearance would certainly struggle in places. Plan to arrive during daylight hours—in the dark the drive is harrowing.The fact that linens and bath towels were not provided seemed a bit odd to us, so don't overlook that detail which is a bit buried in the listing. We noticed it before we left so we weren't caught off guard, but I could see how others might miss it.The rustic approach and linens notwithstanding, we thoroughly enjoyed our time, and do highly recommend.

Rough terrain access as noted in listing sugges adding handrails or grab bars to entrances and lower level. Beautiful views and very comfortable!

Great stay for our family! The place was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed. A couple of things future guests should know: no AC, so it's warm, but the lower level is built into the hill so it is nice and cool and comfortable for sleeping. If you like to have campfires, there's no fire pit. The water access/"beach" is small and not much for "lounging in the sun" BUT, you can swim; the water is super clean and there are kayaks/canoe to use. The walk down to the water can be challenging with steep steps or a path to walk. The view of the lake is limited becuase of the trees. The driveway is a gravel/dirt path that has some hills with a sign to use "low gear." You can hear road noise from Rt 74 across the lake. These things are in no way related to the host - the place was wonderful, felt like home, relaxing and we truly felt off-the grid. We would have like to have stayed longer.
