About this cottage rental

You deserve a secluded restful vacation in the Smoky Mountains. This is the perfect site for family reunions or groups of friends to gather! Enjoy nature and all it has to offer deep in the Appalachian Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee, 22 miles east of Vonore & Tellico Plains in the vast Citico Wilderness Area. Note: Parties over 12 MUST add-on the additional Bunkhouse. (see Amenities)

Now with StarLink WiFi!! The Cottage at Hemlock Grove, located only 50 minutes from I-75 or the Knoxville Airport, tucks you away in extreme privacy in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Located in a private hollow on 200+ acres you can immerse your senses in all that Nature has to offer. Spend days exploring streams, old growth forests, an old mountaineer homestead, and expansive, unspoiled views after hiking to a private mountain top ridge. This is a true Tennessee mountain experience without roughing it! This property is not suitable for bikers due to the road grades in and out, gravel road and driveway, unless you are very very skilled.
For its remoteness, this vacation cottage is surprisingly close to many attractions. Bring your kayaks or boat and enjoy Citico Creek and Tellico and Chilhowee Lakes. Boat ramps are just a few miles away. Abundant trout run in gorgeous, rushing, Citico Creek just minutes away. The Citico forest service road runs along the creek for twenty magnificent miles through the Cherokee National Forest to the breathtaking Cherohala Skyway (Hwy 165) and Indian Boundary Lake.

Thirteen trails, within the National Forest, totaling 57.4 miles provide access to much of Citico Creek Wilderness. For a fun day trip, Dollywood and the other attractions of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are less than two scenic hours away (76 miles). Scenic drive enthusiasts will love the proximity to the 'tail of the dragon' or Highway 129 to Deal's Gap, NC.

The Cottage & Bunkhouse are not generally available January-March due to water pipe freeze potential and wet conditions.

Free unlimited long distance calling from our land line phone.

The property itself is a paradise in the woods with nothing but the clean mountain air to experience outside. I cannot recommend enough! and the Wifi was rock solid on conference calls. Now, on to details. I rented the property for a month (seriously) to get away from the city. Both my kids said it was the best vacation we've ever had. The kitchen was well stocked with spices! which I've never seen before and the hosts left us a goody basket chock full of treats. The hiking trails are expansive, wandering, and wonderful. They are well maintained, but you do still have to watch for poison ivy. There is a pond a short walk away that yields some of the biggest sunfish I've ever seen. The drive to town is an event...its about 40 minutes drive just to get gas, and about an hour to get groceries. That being said, we didnt want to go into town much and we'd simply stop off and load up in between trips to Dollywood, the underground sea, tubing, kayaking, etc. The front and back porch was an absolute oasis where we could watch the trees and the rain and breathe in the slower pace of life there. Talking about the hosts, I have never been more impressed. We got there and had a problem with the internet (both my wife and I work from home and need high speed internet). The hosts sent someone immediately, determined the problem (trees blocking the satellite antenna) and moved mountains to fix it...all within about 48 hours. I was amazed. GREAT PLACE! GREAT HOSTS

This was a perfect summer vacation for our family of 5. The cabin is very clean and spacious and has the best stocked kitchen I have ever seen. The outdoor area is amazing, we ate almost all of our meals out on the back deck. We enjoyed the trails (Thank you Lee and Pat for showing us around) and the general layout of the property. We spent many hours by the fire- the kids say that the favorite part of their vacation was putting sticks on the fire. We also ventured out to Dollywood, Smoky Mountains National Park, and an off roading adventure. It was always nice to retreat back to the quiet of the mountain. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This is a great property in the Tennessee mountains. Plenty of near by trails and a little over an hour to Parts of the Smokey Mountain National Park. Our group of 11 loved it. Lee is a accommodating hoist and personally showed us some of the on-site trails. Look forward to another visit.
