About this house rental

Drive past ponds and vines to arrive at this comfortable home nestled onto a 10+ acre parcel close to downtown Sonoma.

The home features lovely touches such as a newly remodeled kitchen and dining area, distressed fir flooring and a cobblestone fireplace. Enjoy the property and views of the western hills from the expanded front deck or relax on the back deck with a hot tub and BBQ. There is a lovely pool area beyond mature trees, gardens and a bocce court. There are 6 bedrooms, including 2 master bedrooms with king-size beds (other bedrooms: 1 w/ a queen, 1 w/ a double & 1 w/ a twin daybed with a pull-out twin) and a guesthouse that has a bathroom and a king-sized bed.

While we do not have central AC, we recently added a full house fan and have standing fans in all bedrooms. We also have blackout blinds upstairs and a great breeze from being at the top of the hill.

We have three recently installed Tesla Powerwall batteries that are fueled by our solar panels to ensure that the house still has electricity if the area looses power.

The organic Cabernet vineyard consists of approximately 3,000 vines and is sold for estate vintages. This private property is a wonderful country home surrounded by other fine country estates.

We were a group of 11 people from Iceland on a wine tasting tour in Napa and Sonoma. Nice house and nice outdoor swimming pool area. Two people were staying in the outhouse which was fine. We can recommend this house for a group of 11 people like ours, although 2 rooms and beds are rather small.

This house is perfect for a large family gathering. It’s very homey with loads of indoor and outdoor spaces. My family loved it. Just a note, this is not a house for folks who have problems with stairs, it has a lot of them. We knew that ahead of time and managed to work around most of the problems. The one bedroom guest house is adorable and the 4 bedrooms in the main house are very comfortable. The beautiful location with the vineyards unbelievable!

Our group of 11 tremendously enjoyed our stay at this Sonoma estate. The proximity to Sonoma Square and the many wineries was perfect. The grounds (10 acres) of this properly was beautiful, we especially enjoyed our access to the garden and the bountiful strawberries and vegetables. The vineyard on property is stunning. We also enjoyed afternoons at the heated pool, as the weather was great just for that. The kitchen was also well stocked with plenty of dishes and grilling accessories. We cooked several dinners in, but also enjoyed the many great restaurants nearby. The bedrooms were nice and we were all comfortable. We appreciated the Pack and Play on site for our little one! The instruction packet at the house was perfect and allowed us to navigate the property as well as our check out process. Mara was very responsive and communicated with us in a timely fashion. The only thing I'd suggest is to trim the tree leaning on the cottage - as it is rubbing against the building and makes a weird sound at night if it's windy! Overall - a fabulous stay at a beautiful property!

The property was incredible and the home, lovely. The team of people in place to assist could not have been better. When I arrived, they happened to be there and helped me in with all of my luggage and items. What a great place to spend a week. While it’s on a mountain, it’s conveniently located and the drive is beautiful.

We had a great time with our group. The pool was a great temperature and the kids spent hours in the water every day. There was plenty of space for everyone to relax both inside and outside. We enjoyed walking around the property and taking quick trips into Sonoma. Would definitely recommend this place and would love to return for future vacations.

We spent 4 nights here with two other families (9 people total) and had a delightful time. The house is beautiful, clean, and well-stocked with necessities. The beds are comfortable, and there's plenty of space to spread out in the house. There's ample outdoor seating and the grounds are perfect for exploring and playing with the kids. The pool is fantastic. We lounged around and swam, while the kids splashed and played all day. The owner was friendly and responsive to questions. We hope to visit again!

We just spent our third year in a row as a large family of 6 adults and three kids, playing bocci, swimming, playing ping pong, chasing lizards, picking blackberries and playing catch in front yard. We were never on top of each other, there are plenty of bathrooms, two big master suites and couple of play areas for kids indoors. A real treat to stay a this house!

We loved this place! The reason for renting it for a 3 day weekend was a family wedding. The location was perfect. The town square, restaurants and grocery stores are a short drive away. The Friday night welcome reception held at Jacuzzi Family Winery and the Saturday night wedding held at Tyge William Winery were 15-20 minute drives away. Among the many things we loved about the house is the totally private feeling even though it's so close to "civilization." Other things to love include comfortable and well-supplied bedrooms and bathrooms, a well-stocked kitchen (equipment and cooking staple-wise), plenty of common spaces in which to spread out, morning walks around the grounds abounding with bird, jack rabbit and lizard sightings, afternoons around the pool and late nights around the hot tub. And can't neglect to mention the cottage. It's adorable. One of the couples in our group opted to stay in it and found it to be just as comfortable as the main house. As we were scurrying to clean up and check out on Sunday morning we were talking about when we might be able to return to this very property when we don't have wedding festivities taking up a lot of time. We hope it is soon and intend to spend a lot more time just hanging out and enjoying the home and surroundings next time around.

This home is beautiful! I really think the pictures do not do it justice. The house has a great floor plan, the kitchen is actually right next to the living room and dining room, even though the pictures make it look like it is broken up. It is brighter, more comfortable and higher quality than the pictures make it look. The beds were SUPER comfortable with soft sheets, great pillows and lots of warm bedding if needed! It was very comfortable for a large group and fully equipped with everything you would need. The pool is right by the house with a beautiful garden setting. The owner was very responsive and helpful and provided all the information needed. We would absolutely stay here again!

This is a wonderful home. When we arrived, everything was very clean and ready for us. Beds were made and very clean, towels clean and stacked around for immediate use. We enjoyed all of the amenities in relaxed comfort. We hung out and played Bocci, swam in and sat by the pool, morning jacuzzi to get the days started before heading out to the wineries. Sunsets are terrific from several areas on the grounds including a nice view of valley and vines from the big front porch (which has plenty of seating. It was very relaxing and a perfect fit for our group. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking and serving items, even for our large group of 10. We thank you for opening your home to us and will never forget our wonderful stay.

This home was absolutely wonderful! The entrance was breathtaking. There was plenty of space outside and inside for our group of 10 friends. The home is stocked with more than enough towels, pool towels, blankets and pillows. The kitchen also has plenty of cook ware and supplies for our group. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, grill, and fireplace. It's also in a very convenient location near the town square for brunch and quick drives to great vineyards. Close to everything and yet a wonderful escape to paradise. We would love to come back again someday!

The communications before our arrival were very clear and timely. We had no trouble at all finding or getting into the house. There were 9 of us staying at the house, and we were all very comfortable. Every bedroom was nice, had a gorgeous view, and was spacious. The bathrooms were clean and nice as well. Though, there seemed to be an issue with the water pressure and getting hot water in the guest bathrooms and in the pool cottage. The kitchen was spacious and had all that we needed to cook the first night. There is a wonderful, large gas grill outside as well. The outdoor lounging areas are big and we truly appreciated the lovely table that allowed for outdoor eating. The pool is amazing. It's big and a lovely respite from the sun. Plenty of places to lounge around the pool as well. The house sits on a beautiful vineyard, and we all probably took 100s of pictures of their property. When you stay at this house, you know 100% that you are in Sonoma. It's a wonderful setting. We did rent a limo on our second day to visit some vineyards in Healdsburg. The limo found the place easily and was able to park in a little turnabout a little bit from the house. We were thrilled with our visit, and would unequivocally recommend this place for your next visit to Sonoma.

Over the last 20 years my husband and I have been lucky enough to rent houses and apartments from Maine to Los Angeles to Paris, and the Bess Vineyard rental is one we will never forget, and plan to use again, for the next large family get-together. It really is that good. Comfortable without being "precious," easy to use, well managed, lots of outdoor living space with stunning views, large wild berry patches along the driveway, not to mention an incredible pool that we used every day, and a very private setting complete with a vineyard. We were in Sonoma for our son's wedding, with family ranging in age from 19 to 67. The house worked for all of them, though people who are set on every window having a covering may have quibbles with this space...but the coverings really aren't necessary, because it is so private. The much bigger asset is the huge number of Windows...the light and ventilation throughout the house is wonderful! And while we were incredibly lucky with the weather, if the house does get warm, almost every room is equipped with a free-standing fan. The kitchen is well-stocked, though one extra-large skillet would be a nice addition. There is only one refrigerator, but we found a cooler in the garage that we could have used if needed. The yellow jackets were fairly abundant outside, but we found plenty of bug spray and citronella candles, and all our big meals were out on the deck, day and night--what a pleasure! Thank you, Astrid, for being so responsive as we settled in that first day. And thank you, Mara, for the fast responses to our correspondence. Your house made our family celebration as perfect as it could be.

We booked a trip to California to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday and decided to visit the Sonoma area for part of our vacation. Because we had 7 adults, 2 children, and one dog we found it difficult to find a place that would fit all of our needs. Fortunately we found this place and were able to look at it before we arrived in August. The house overlooks Sonoma and sits on top of a hill. The house is quite large and reminds me of a farm house that has wrap around porches to enjoy the views and a hot tub and table on them so that you can spend a lot of time outside. As if this isn't enough, there is a large pool with tables and chairs and a guest house for guests that want a little more peace away from the house. The house did not lack for anything that we might need and we loved the time that we spent in this quiet place. We took walks down the drive and were right next to the vineyards on property. We will definitely go back if we find our way to Sonoma again.We were so close to everything and the owner of the property was very helpful and responsive to any questions that we had.

When I booked this beautiful rental property in the heart of Sonoma wine country for my birthday celebration with loved ones, I had no idea that my expectations would be so greatly exceeded. Staying here was like having some famous close friends who just offered up their well-designed, fully equipped family summer home for us to use for our own personal enjoyment. It was warm, beautiful, welcoming, fully appointed; elegant, while still being casual and down to earth. It is like staying at a VRBO only in the best sense of the term...never once did we feel that we were in an impersonal rental unit. If we could have stayed all summer, we would have. The home is ideal. My group ranged in age from one-month old to 65 years old, and it was perfect for everyone. This property has everything, and is absolutely ideal for a family reunion. As previous reviews have stated, there are panoramic views from every room. There is complete privacy. The pool area is like a resort, and all of us felt that next time--yes-- we will have to fight over the guest cottage! So adorable. Everyone felt that their own bed was the perfect firmness, and their linens were fantastic. The wraparound deck is everyone's dream. We loved the grounds and loved picking blackberries which were incredibly abundant. Our dog was welcomed and she never wiped the smile from her face! You will not regret renting this property. Enjoy the evenings and then wake up early and walk though the vineyards and listen to the birds. I cannot wait to return. Jennifer, the manager, sets such a great tone for the visit. She is professional and clear in all communication, but she makes you feel safe and welcome--just as though you were already a trusted friend. I think it is always nice to add a few tips: mine are 1) An electric hot water kettle would be great because the small stovetop kettle took a lot of time heating up. 2) Bring a few extra coolers and ice since the fridge is not that large. 3) The rooms have few window coverings to take advantage of the amazing views, so you may want to bring your eye shades if you like to sleep later in the morning--but better to get up and enjoy!

We booked this property as my son was getting married in Sonoma. We were a family of 10 from the UK, sadly due to medical emergencies in the UK and then in San Francisco only 6 of us made it to the property. Despite the sadness of our reduced numbers we couldn't have been more happy with the property. The tranquil setting and the amazing views calmed us all. We would like to thank the maintenance man who greeted a very stressed family and his calm and friendly nature made us feel immediately at home. The house has a great happy family feel and we just loved our time there. Maybe one day we will return with our missing guest and enjoy this space together.

We loved our stay here. The house is great, and the location/property is even better. The pictures do not do it justice. Most rooms have panoramic views. Our kids loved exploring the grounds and picking strawberries from the garden. The view is incredible. You can see the Sonoma Valley below. The property is extremely private and well maintained. They had everything in the house you could have possibly needed. They have a box of toddler toys, board games, condiments, even a bike. The rental is not managed by the actual owner, but the gal who manages it was very helpful, and responded to our emails promptly. My one small request is that the owners clear the closets and cupboards a bit so the guests have a place to put their things. We did not want to leave! We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
