About this house rental

The house has an old-style charm with many unique, vintage features, yet it is impeccably clean and well-maintained.The two master bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, and one of the bedrooms had amazing views that we all loved. The kitchen was fully stocked, with a great modern oven and with everything we needed. The two fireplaces added a cozy touch, perfect for relaxing together.For entertainment, the house was incredible—air hockey, billiard, foosball, and even dominoes kept everyone engaged and excited. There was something for everyone to enjoy!Overall, this property exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend it for a fun, relaxing group getaway!The host was super responsive! Thank you, Alison!

Alison's home was very comfortable for our group of friends who came up to spend some time in the outdoors in Tahoe! Plenty of beds and bathrooms and the kitchen was well appointed. We definitely appreciated all the games as well!

This was an amazing stay! Host was very accommodating in that our booked weekend there was a blizzard and she graciously allowed us to switch weekends. The space is amazing with so many rooms that even though you'll have a large group, you can find a place to find your own peace and quiet. The kids (and the adults) loved the game room with Billiards, Air Hockey, etc. The mud room made life so much easier for a snow-ski trip as all our wet items stayed out of the house. Kitchen is big and easy for groups to cook in (wait until you see the stove!!!). Thank you for a lovely weekend. Would recommend this place to anyone.

This place could accommodate 3 families with young kids comfortably. Our littles loved the game room with pool, foosball, and air hockey. It has an old timey feel/decor and you can tell the owners are upgrading slowly. A few details missing but we had a good time. The location was superb. If you have multiple families with younger kids this layout is ideal.

We were three families with kids ranging from 1 to 11 enjoying our annual snow trip. House is super close to Sugar Bowl and also has tons of space around it for snow play. We built snow forts, created a sled run in the back yard, did one day of tubing, and enjoyed two days of skiing. Kitchen was well-equipped and fireplace was lovely. It was our 2nd time staying in this cabin. It feels so homey. We’re so happy with the kitchen update. We love to cook so it’s a must. The rooms are huge with lots of beds. We probably will be back next summer and winter. It’s so close to Donner ski ranch for some activities.

We had a great experience. Definitely has that old time feel to it given multiple rooms! 4 families stayed and the rooms were perfect given all the beds available. The kids loved the pool table, air hockey, and foosball. The fires were perfect and kept the downstairs nice and warm. Kitchen was good for what we needed. Had a coffee machine, toaster, and stove top tea kettle. Olive oil and some spices where there as well. We had a ton of snow so not able to see the backyard. The kids were able to play in the front as they snowplowed a small parking space that was perfect for playing.

Excellent place to stay while skiing at sugar bowl and boreal (Donner was not open). The place has a lot of character, is well-supplied, and very comfortable, and is virtually next-door to Sugarbowl. There was a certain charm to the history of the house and the furniture. But the house was not really conducive to a summer stay. The deck in the back could only be accessed through the front and was not attached to the house. The instructions indicated that there was a key to the back door to access the back but there wasn’t, so when we were barbecuing we had to go through the front and around to the back. Also there was no air conditioning so in the late afternoon the house was very warm. The ceiling fan in the parlor did not work. There were no ceiling fans in the bedrooms upstairs. The house could only be cooled off by opening the windows to get an evening breeze but one of the bedrooms did not even have screens on the windows. There was a lot of traffic on that road so when the windows were open in the evening it was very noisy.

We had two families and grandparents at the house and had a blast. Plenty of room for all and the the vibe of the place is really cool - you can tell it was an Inn at some point and it's retained that feel - in a good way. Very well stocked and convenient to Sugarbowl. We even went in to Truckee for dinner one night and it was an easy drive. Definitely reccommend.

First I think the location where this place is great. It's not too far off the highway and it's surrounded by a lot of things you can do. The scenery around this area is really beautiful. Regarding the home itself, I like the pool table and lounge area. The kitchen was nice. What I thought could be better was the home seems a bit old and could use some updating/renovation. For example I didn't like the bathrooms and feel they could be newer and cleaner. But overall, not a terrible place and had a good time with my group.

The proximity to Claire Tappaan Lodge was great for us. We were a family of 8 in town for my cousins wedding at the lodge. The outside of the house suffers from deferred maintenance - especially around the entry and porch area, but the inside is warm and cozy. Kitchen is large, modern appliances and great space to cook for a group. Large dining room table was a plus. Lots of bathrooms and bedrooms were comfortable. The pictures on the site need to be updated as the bedrooms are set up a little differently than what they currently show. Met Travis, the caretaker, who was very nice. Loved the photos from the 40s of the original structure - great history. Thanks!

We really enjoyed our long July weekend in this large cabin. The surrounding area is beautiful! We especially enjoyed the game room, with pool table, small foosball table, multiple couches, musical instruments, sound system and large beer fridge. The patio was also great to enjoy the good weather at this time of year. There is a charcoal bbq out back for grilling and the patio is big enough for a large group to enjoy. The property has an old cabin coziness to it that everyone enjoyed and there is ample sleeping space and common areas for large groups. Although not mentioned until two days prior to our arrival, there is a caretaker, Travis, who lives on the property. Travis was very nice and didn't bother us at all, but it was a surprise to have someone else there as one of the reasons we had booked this property is that it is secluded and away from other homes; we didn't want to have to be concerned about bothering neighbors if we were loud or up late. It is also great only need to drive 10-15 minutes to Donner Lake. There are also several trail heads nearby (the closest, including the PCT, are only 5 minutes to drive or 10-15 minutes to run), including the PCT. We did all our cooking in the large kitchen and bbq, which was perfect for our group. If you're looking for restaurants, there's a bit of a drive required. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Beautiful place! Perfect for a large family gathering, including small children. The rec room on the first floor had a pool table and foos ball, which keep the big kids happy, and the living room with the large deer head served as a great board game room. The place came fully stocked with board games. There was also a full pantry in the kitchen for us replace whatever we use, as well as an assortment of cooking spices above the stove. You may need to bring your own cooking oil. The area is peaceful. On the front porch, there was swinging bench that the kids really enjoyed. "I just like taking in the air," said a 7-year old while pumping legs back and forth on the bench. And grandma loved it, too. It was a perfect retreat after her early morning walk. While this house seemed rather remote, we found a great 30-minute hiking trail starting at Clair Tappaan Lodge (a five minute walk up the road). There, we also discovered a geocache hidden near the lodge's entrance. The kids got a real kick out of geocaching and there's plenty in the surrounding area. Some were within walking distance and others were a 5 to 10 minute drive away. We found 3 during our stay here and this was one of the many highlights of our vacation! Overall Donner Pass Lodge was a very comfortable and exciting place to stay. I highly recommend it to any large group looking to have an all-inclusive experience--be it indoor lounging and games or outdoor adventures and reflections. When I asked one of our kids why she liked staying here, she said: "Because it's like living in a forest!" And that pretty much sums it up.

We were lucky to be able to stay at the AMAZING Norden House the first weekend after Alison and Colleen had purchased it. There is so much space! Many of the bedrooms have private baths and there are two living areas! The parlor is cozy, warm and inviting - and the billiard room is HUGE with two different seating areas, a pool table, a beer fridge and an array of games and musical instruments. (guitars, trumpet, violin, piano, accordion, banjo....and more!) The kitchen and dining room are equally inviting and spacious. We were lucky to have a late snow fall at the end of April - and woke up to a foot of snow and such amazing winter mountain views! Luckily, the local snow plower stores his equipment and the property, so we were the first to be cleared out!
