The Lodge is lovely. Quite quirky. A very sympathetic farm building conversation that still retains a huge amount of rustic charm. No frills but very comfortable. It might have been snowing outside while we were there but we were warm enough. Breakfast was excellent.
The room we were in was cosy - only big enough for a double bed, and we had a clothes rail rather than a wardrobe. For the two nights we were there it didn't matter and the bed itself was very comfortable.

Breakfast was good, sausages were lovely!, It was around 30 minutes from Amble where my family was but as the room was really nice this was not an issue for me.
Orange Juice could have been nicer.

Very friendly staff and great period features and home cooked breakfast.
Very hospitable hosts but Found it too dark on arrival with winter nights very poor visibility to our room in the courtyard and via the reception to the secondary room booked for family member also Cart shed room smells strongly of Damp which given it is a period home is understandable but the aroma was so strong the smell permeated all the fabrics in the room and the room was very cold despite one heater being on and my son has bad asthma which did not help this. so this may need to be looked into for future guests on winter breaks. The Hairdryer in the bathroom is not great for drying hair with ease and sadly it was possible to hear all noise coming from the room above us from 5am onwards which was very noisy with constant bangs and running across the flooring. There was also lots of dirt and debris on the shower cubicle and lots of dust on the bedroom units which may have been overlooked and stains and debris on the bedding not ideal sadly on first impressions despite the friendly hosts.

Friendly hosts and home lovely home cooked breakfast.
Sadly the cart shed room is very damp and cold with only one working heater. Also different than the room originally shown on my booking details from booking.com it was shown as calf pen but this was very different room and i was not informed of any room changes both prior and on arrival.
Also sadly the room itself was not fully clean and there was debris and hairs in both the shower cubicle floor and toilet and dust around all the bedside units and stains showing on the bedding so not ideal first impressions. The lighting and visibility to both this room and another room i booked for member of our family was not easy to see from entrance and across the courtyard with the early dark winter evenings so feel this should be safer for guests arrivals. It is possible to hear alot of noise from guests staying above is from 5am onwards. My son has bad Asthma so the cooler damper family room of the Cart Shed was not ideal for him and the cleanliness and noise sadly let it down despite our friendly welcome from the Evelyn.

Lovely location and great breakfast.
The window in our room was broken and the radiator wouldn't come on so we were pretty cold (although warm enough when tucked up in bed).
I also found the access from the A1 quite stressful, but I don't love driving!

Breakfast was nice plus a full English, location easy and good
The community area with the log burner was a bit Smokey.

The location was very convenient for the A1. Literally just off of it. The accommodation was very comfortable the rooms being sited off a very attractive courtyard. I arrived a bit later than expected and the owner was extremely helpful in arranging an early breakfast. This is a unique and somewhat 'quirky' place to stay and is all the better for that.
Maybe some signs as to where to park especially if arriving in the dark.

Owners very pleasant, friendly and helpful
I arrived after dark and wasn't sure where to go - not good signage and lighting outside. Noise travelled through the walls, so I could hear the conversations of the people in the next rooms.

This place was quintessentially unique, full of character, fantastic staff, and even though it was close to the A1, you felt like you were a million miles away, so tranquil and relaxing, the rooms were all different in their own way, breakfast was lovely, very welcoming owners, and the grounds feel like you've stepped back in time - amazing place, the communal lounge with wood burner encourages you to make new friends or just relax in your own thoughts
One very small critique - the sign for West Cawledge where Alnwick lodge is - the turning becomes more than slightly obscured on a night, especially in the rain - you might end up going past and having to U Turn - perhaps better lighting on the entrance and turning would assist

The staff were very friendly
Breakfast was very good.
Turning right onto a main dual carriage way whenever left the property - this is not the fault of the owners.

This property has so much character, the workmanship and thought that makes every room individual is astounding.
I was in the smallest room at the property which is fine, but being reasonably tall it made using the shower a little challenging.

The location was handy for the town of Aldwick. The lady owner was very pleasant and friendly.
There wasn’t much choice for breakfast and in my opinion the exit / entrance to the premises is dangerous especially at night. The entrance wasn’t lite so was difficult to locate and while your slowing you have to have the indicator on extra early otherwise you have vehicles travelling towards you at 60 / 70 mph while your decreasing your speed searching for the entrance. There wasn’t a window in the room you could open for fresh air. High up in the bathroom ceiling was an extractor fan that you couldn’t turn off. It continually turned off and on all day and all night making sleep difficult.

Lovely one night stay in a lovely attic room.
The owers were extremely helpful and friendly.
Enjoyed a hearty breakfast.
Would definitely recommend. Easy access to Alnwick
Intend to stay again with family and our little dog.

All great. Very good hosts, location and food.
Only slight negative was the lack of blind on the skylight in our room. It woke us up at the crack of dawn.

Very nicely modified place that had lots of antique deigns. Great breakfast. Location is just off the highway. Very convenient but not noisy. Easy driving access to the town
Ceiling as a little creaky being an old building so the guests above made some noise but not significant.

Easy parking
Burnt porridge, dried bacon. No window in room apart from a small skylight that was restricted for opening. Difficult stair access. Very low ceiling in bathroom causing us to bump our heads many times. Vent didn't work. The fixed shower headroom was very low so you have to stoop to use it. Tap dripped. Small room. Door didn't close properly. Tiny hanging rail. Only 2 drawers for clothes. No toiletries.

Our host was very welcoming and the cooked breakfast was lovely. The location is great for exploring the local area but definitely book a table if you want to eat in Alnwick - both nights we stayed we were unable to get in anywhere.
A minor thing but the bathroom in the loft room we stayed in was very small and it would be tricky to shower in if you're tall!

Porridge cold and tea was like dish water but full English breakfast was lovely

We didn't like anything really but it was close to Alnwick.
From the photograph of the room and out buildings it should have been quaint and quirky but in all honesty we thought we paid good money and being taken advantage of. The photo was obviously an old one and the room had been left to age and not ket up to date. The mattress was uncomfortable and "broken". Our sheet was ripped and had old stains on it. The chair in the room had collapsed. the toilet didn't fluch well. The bath and shower arrangement was a disaster and anyone over 4ft tall would struggle. The taps dripped constantly and there was no noticed to say that the water was very hot, I just avoided being scoulded when manouevering the shower. Our room was only half serviced as the bed was left unmade. The cooked breakfast - don't go there. Looked good but made me ill for the rest of the day and night but by then we had moved on.

Quirky, charming, history, welcoming, cosy and comfortable. Spacious twin with very nice shower. Fabulous home cooked breakfast too.
Perhaps both dog friendly and dog free room options would offer more choice.

We have been going there for years. We like the couple who own it, the quirky imaginative decor, the food, surroundings and friendlyness.

Great location, very close to Alnwick, and Almouth, and coastal routes; lovely and friendly staff, very helpful and give great travel tips; the room I had was gorgeous and spacious, was amazing value.. generally the place is quirky, a beautifully and lovingly remodelled old farm house with many old features retained; breakfast is excellent in the old stables, a colourful gift shop, a fridge to use, beautiful courtyard with lots of flowers and green where people can sit, family friendly; plenty of space for parking; just a great place to be for several days! I would definitely come again..
just very minor things; the closeness to the A1 caused permanent noise but didn't disrupt sleep; the room I was in only one small window could be opened, when I was there it was unusually hot and sunny and the room heated up during the day, cooling it down was tricky.. but really, small things!

We really liked the place, it has a real character and charm. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and the service was great. We enjoyed the communal set up for it, it was nice to chat with people staying at the lodge.
Location was convenient, it is next to the A1 but we didn’t hear it in our room. If you are exploring the area, a good place to stay.
We believe the room was serviced but not sure. Not enough toilet paper. Luckily we brought our own with us. Not a big issue but unpleasant if you get caught out.

The breakfast was outstanding. Large tables in an old stables meant easy conversation with other guests
Rather too close to the A1.

Very quirky, all rooms are in keeping with the original purpose of the building which was a farmhouse and outbuildings. Comfy bed.
Accessible bedroom led into communal longe area so it was quite noisy if people were using the lounge.
Being in a downstairs room meant the noise from room above was very evident.

Quirky property and cosy wood fire. Breakfast service was quick.
Room wasn't always serviced in full. Not that we reallly minded, just was noticeable. Our room had no windows, just a fully glazed entrance separated from the sleeping area by a small seating area and heavy curtains. It was okay but others might not like that arrangement.

A little out of the way but that's it

Liked how quirky it was. Very quiet and easy access straight onto the A1. Also liked the homemade bread etc.

Lovely, quirky place. The owners were so very friendly, lots of good tips and advice about the area. Lovely set up at breakfast, large tables instead of individual room tables which worked well and encouraged conversation with other guests. Our room was spacious and comfortable.
The only thing we could say is that our room only had a bath, no shower so be aware and check. Also if any tall guests be aware there are very low wooden beams.

Room and great breakfast. Close by parking. Immediate road access to the A1.
As the lower sheet was not fitted it crept across the mattress . It was too small to tuck under my mattress
Door but no window to allow fresh air flow.
Creaking and movement noise from above room awakened us early in mornings.
