About this apartment rental
This charming one-bedroom apartment is located just outside town with beautiful views of the Animas River. Great location for hiking, biking, skiing or rafting and kayaking. it is on the trolley stop with easy access to historic downtown Durango, CO.
This apartment has been a labor of love for my wife and I and serves as our own weekend getaway from our life in Tucson. It is lovingly appointed with favorite artwork and furnishings from the Southwest, giving it a personal touch. The views from the balcony of Animas City Mountain are classic Durango.
Guests have full access to the apartment and condo facilities including remodeled gym and beautifully landscaped outdoor space with views of the San Juan Mountains. The outdoor space is equipped with a gazebo, bike racks and picnic tables with grills.
I or our property manager are always available by phone or email if there are problems.
Durango is an exciting town with more restaurants per capita than San Francisco, multiple breweries, great night life and world class outdoor recreation. The proximity to Fort Lewis College gives the town a great flare and diversity not found in other mountain towns.
There is WiFi, cable tv and dvd player. You can feel free setting up apple tv under your account to rent movies, Netflix and amazon prime.
The trolley stop is immediately out front of the building and operates until 10pm daily in the summer and until 7p Mon-Sat in the winter.

COMEDY OF
ERRORS
Throughout all the comedy and errors, the owner was very accommodating!
The comedy starts on check in day. Upon opening the door it was evident the condo had not been cleaned ( bed linens on the floor, etc). The owner refunded our cleaning fee and expedited the cleaning service. We did get into a “clean” condo that night. Unfortunately, probably due to the quick cleaning,; towels were damp, and the cleaning was basically a “lick & a promise.”
This was our first time for an extended (longer than one week) stay. The “cozy” condo took some time for us to adapt. I think it would be great for travelers that are use to small spaces or a short stay.
Be prepared for a possible early morning fire alarm wake up. During our stay there were 2 within an 8 hour timeframe. Yes, naturally, during the middle of the night and early morning. According to regular residents this has been happening since the installation of the new system …Hopefully it will be rectified in the near future.
I would like to reiterate, the owner could not have been more helpful. He responded quickly to all calls, no matter the time of day or night.
The pluses: the condo has all you need and the new queen bed is very comfy. There were basic spices on hand and the owner also had chairs to use on the small deck. There is plenty of closet and drawer space. You are close to town and all the fun things that Durango offers. Plus, if you like hummingbirds, you are in for a treat. We purchased an inexpensive feeder and they kept us thoroughly entertained. It was not unusual to have 3 or 4 hummers feeding at once. We saw Rufous, black chins, and broadtails. A real treat as we rarely see those back East.
Once again, the inconveniences we experienced were no fault of the owner… he was very helpful and readily available via text or telephone.
