Group of 5 friends who’ve travelled together over the years. Each stay we try and top the last and this property did not disappoint! (Personally I could have stayed…)The guest hand book is very helpful! Laurie recommended a chef make dinner in the house for our arrival, which we did. HIGHLY recommend as we were exhausted and ended up with left overs for lunch, and the cost was reasonable compared to eating out. The Neighborhood is safe and clean. The tennis court can handle a pickle if one prefers. (Take water) The house pool is refreshing. The kitchen is well appointed. Can’t ask for much more.Seems far from amenities but it’s close. Easy walk down the hill and taxi back (100 pesos ish) if ladened with groceries or cervesas. We were very comfortable. We Highly recommend the property and helpful host.

Walking in for the first time to such an amazing and dramatic view just takes your breath away (but wait till the sun goes down and you gaze across the bay to the ‘Mountain of Diamonds’. One of the most beautiful things we’ve ever seen in all our travels!) The casa itself is lovely and as others have said, like having your own private resort! We are a group of 6 family and friends who love to cook so the huge open air kitchen (with that gorgeous view!) was perfect! (Though don’t miss the incredible dining out in Z!) Jacquie and Lily were lovely and very helpful and we also fell in love with the gate guard who saw us frequently as we went to town most days. But you wouldn’t need to. You could stay up here in paradise and just bask in the jungle sounds and the beauty. Maybe have Jacquie shop for the fresh fish of the day a few times…and don’t miss the Mexican mangos!! Oh my!! We also want to say that owner Laurie has gone out of her way to help make our stay extra special – so thank you Laurie, thank you to your Mexican family and thank you Zihuatanejo – we’ll be back!!

Beautiful house above the bay with a view of everything. We had the perfect view of water taxis shuttling people from the peer to Playa Las Gatas all day. When the sun sets, the town stays light and is absolutely gorgeous. Gourmet kitchen, huge dining room table, and comfy seating around the pool and in the living room. Perfect for 3 couples, never felt like we were on top of each other. The private chef was so good, she came back two more times! Lili came every other day and did our laundry, we were spoiled for sure. Not the best for people with mobility issues, as stairs up to the master or down to the other two beds is the only access to the bedrooms. So there is some serious stair climbing to get around the house. Good for your legs! Gated safe community, under development so there is construction happening on most streets. The houses are built to be very private so it wasn’t a huge issue. Be prepared to take taxis to get anywhere, and make sure you practice your Spanish and/or download Google Translate to communicate as needed. Zihua is a very clean and safe feeling town, with a growing food scene. Espuma was a favourite dinner out, highly recommend. And Margaritas for brunch. La Ropa was a great beach, and make the trip to Playa Las Gatas at least once!

We (family of 4 with 10yo and 13yo) were blown away as soon as we entered the home! The view from every space is fantastic and the house is well appointed with local art. We spent the majority of our time in the open air kitchen/dining/lounge/pool enjoying the sunshine and sunsets, but the bedrooms are great too! Jacquie was incredibly responsive, booked our airport transport and a fishing trip. Lili was incredibly sweet and even washed/folded our laundry each visit (I could have easily only packed 1/4 of what I brought)! The house manual was helpful and provided the name of a driver “Bear” who helped us get around town. The house is in a safe and gated community that requires transportation but everything is a quick and cheap ($5-7) cab ride. 10/10 would stay again in a heartbeat.

Everything was perfect! We played hard in Zih with some great excursions. It was wonderful to come back to this relaxing oasis. Lilly and Jaquie were so helpful and friendly. The views were amazing, Beds were comfortable, everything was clean. I can't say enough about it :) We had a Chef come in two nights and cook for us, I highly recommend! Oh, I almost forgot.... Jasmine the massage therapist came one afternoon and we all had massages. She was wonderful, One of the best I've had in a while! ( I'm a massage therapist here in the states (25 years, I know great massage ) We will be coming back for sure . Thank you Laurie, Jacqui, Lilly, our chef( can't remember her name) Jasmine and everyone else who made our trip one for the books.

First time staying in Zihua - a truly amazing spot! We had a hurricane warning (Otis) but luckily it didn’t end up hitting us other than some rain at night. Casa Estrella de Mar is a beautiful spot and Laurie, Jaquie, Lilli, & Jorge we’re available as needed during our stay to help with anything! Walking distance from a picturesque beach. Taxi driver (Bear) were great but expect to take them if you’re heading into town / La Ropa beach!

Stunning villa perched on the hillside overlooking the beautiful bay. The pictures on the listing were very accurate except that the real thing was even better. The owners were very helpful. The view and property are just as expected. Absolutely stunning! Both Laurie and Jacqui were so communicative throughout the whole process.We had a few bumps in our adventure, but Jacqui was very kind and helpful in making sure we were taken care of. You must book a dinner with the chef, she is incredible and it was such a treat! It was our first time in Zihua, so the heat an environment took a little getting used to, but the pool is the best way to cool off! Taxis into the Centro or La Ropa are pretty necessary unless you love walking up steep hills. If you are looking for a more remote relaxing vacation, then this is the perfect spot for you!

My wife and two teenage kids stayed at Casa Estrella de Mar and had an extraordinary vacation. The house is immaculate, with a picturesque view, and the accommodations were perfect for our family. Jacquie met us when we checked in and had picked up a short list of groceries that we had sent in advance. Lili came every day to clean, do laundry, and otherwise keep the house in pristine condition. We had a chef-prepared dinner at the house one night that was excellent and otherwise enjoyed exploring the area, eating at wonderful restaurants, and relaxing in the pool or on the deck. Honestly, all of our needs were fully met. Taxis were easy to get and we walked to the beach one day as well. All in all it was an awesome stay and we hope to come back soon!

This place has it all...outstanding service, excellent location and ample opportunities for adventure. Our family enjoyed a week at Casa Estrella De Mar for a week in March and our experience was out of this world. Pre-trip communication from Laurie was quick, efficient and very helpful in planning our trip. Jacquie, the property manager, arranged for airport pick up at ZIH and it was a short 20 minute drive to our private oasis - arrived just in time to see the sunset - I don't think you can get enough pictures of that amazing view. We were pampered from day one with arrangements for groceries upon arrival, option for daily or every other day cleaning service by Lilly (outstanding) and Jacquie at our service when we needed any arrangements made. This property is located on a hillside, giving you a spectacular view of Zihua - the lights at night are a delight to see. We loved the open architecture and ample gathering spaces. Special call out to Hector, the security guard in this gated community that helped us find a lost cell phone during our stay - his detective skills saved the day. We will most certainly be back to this special place. Thank you, Laurie, for allowing us to share your special home.

When you walk thru the front door and onto the living area, you experience a little bit of heaven on earth. You are able to see all of Zihuatanejo Bay. The beautiful Las Gatas beach is just below you with its white, light green and blue coral waters. La Ropa beach is on the right with its beach restaurants and endless water sports toys. Then you can look across the bay at Maderas beach, the marina, downtown Z and the pier. The view at night that lights up before you is amazing. However, the personal touch of the staff there at Casa Estrella De Mar is the best I have ever encountered throughout my worldly travels. Starting with Laurie the owner, she goes above and beyond to answer any of your questions before you book or travel to help your experience there be fulfilled. Next comes her property manager Jacqui who is exceptionally kind, attentive, resourceful, responsive and helpful. She provides excursion information while in Z and makes appointments for your own chef dinner She makes reservations for dinner. For 200 pesos, she will take your pre-arrival grocery list and stock the casa just prior to your arrival which is a huge plus after traveling all day. Housekeeping is provided by Lili and Jorge who provide fresh towels, water in your room, clean the infinity pool, wash your clothes for you, and clean the home. I am not sure the Ritz Carlton could do better.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Estrella de Mar. The view is stupendous, the best view of our many house rentals. The home is well built, well-appointed and the pool is fantastic. Jacquie, local property manager, and Lili, house maid, were excellent. We did not rent a car, rather we used taxis for transport into town. Cost was $90 pesos one way, extremely reasonable and taxis were always plentiful. If you have a chance to use Pablo on the archeological tour, do so. Very informative and fun! Jacquie can book this tour for you. We would highly recommend this property.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. The house was absolutely stunning, but the incredible customer service from Jacqui was what really set it apart from anywhere else we have ever stayed. Anything we needed, any questions we had she was there to answer! Jorge and Lily were wonderful as well. The only thing was wifi did not reach in the master room, so be mindful if that is important to you- I’m assuming it’s because the house is solid concrete. Hoping to stay at this beautiful property again sometime in the future. Thanks Laurie, Jacquie and team!

The property is amazing. From the moment we drove through the gates at Cerro Del Viagia we could feel how special this house would be. Our impressions were verified the moment we walked through the door. Stunning views from almost every angle. Making breakfast everyday hearing the roar of the ways below, the lights at night from across the the bay, the nightly breeze to luxuriate in to name just a few of the scenic wonders. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed framing some distinctive and stimulating art pieces from local artisans added a truly authentic experience. Our hosts were timely, completely available and kind. Thank you Laurie for your flexibility, understanding and welcoming us into your home.

With the perfect weather in late January, the perfect view, a friendly and helpful staff, a beautiful and charming villa up high on the side of a hill over-looking the bay, and those balmy ocean breezes - we've found our 'paradise'. This was our second visit to Casa Estrella de Mar and it certainly won’t be the last. The view hasn’t gotten old. Although we knew what to expect it still surpassed our expectations upon arrival. The infinity pool is magical, the artwork beautiful. The common areas work incredibly well for dinners, drinks and socialization. Having two fridges really accommodated keeping all our drinks and groceries cool. We enjoyed a few dinners cooking in the well appointed kitchen and the guest book served as an amazing resource of restaurants for dining out. Jackie (the manager) and Lily(the housekeeper) were very professional and accommodating. Jackie went above and beyond to book our PCR tests to save us a headache while travelling during Covid. These two truly made our trip and our stay at Casa Estrella de Mar an easy experience. And Laurie is the best host we have ever had. We have said this before, but we will say it again…. We will see you next year!

Absolute perfection for a family getaway. Not enough superlatives. Adored cooking in the indoor/outdoor kitchen overlooking the pool. Played cards in the ac office//media room. Drinks all hours of the day in the infinity pool. Stunning views from all 3 bedrooms so no one needs to fight. Laurie, jacquie and Lili were so sweet and responsive. Will always stay here when returning to zihua.

We had a great time at Casa Estrella. Word of the wise: read the red book in the media room! We missed that part from Jacqui and Lily when we checked in so we were a bit confused at first. We had a problem with the ice maker but Jacqui and Laurie and everyone were so reactive and accommodating. Such a beautiful view and property and a wonderful staff too!!

Secluded but so convenient

Estrella De Mar is such a wonderful property. Located in the hills above La Ropa you can see the city lights of Zihua sparkle at night directly across the bay. The pictures accurately depict this wonderful home. It's a comfortable walk down to the beach (about 20 mins at an easy pace), we chose to cab back up the hill after our beach time/dinners. The property owners and staff are wonderful and very responsive! This is a great location for up to three couples. The master bedroom, located above the pool, has fantastic views of the bay and the city. The breezes coming up from the bay keep this home very comfortable during the day and night...you may not ever turn the A/C on at all. Estrella Da Mar is certainly on our list of "let's go back there".
