Beach Access with Private Stairs

The house is in the perfect location, nestled in the dunes with stairs to a private beach. The sunsets over Lake Michigan are spectacular. The yard is spacious with 2 different patio lounging spaces plus a fire pit and chairs (lake view from fire pit but not patios). No screened in porch, so depending on the mosquito situation, bring bug spray. The house is very comfortable and there are lake views from the formal dining room and living room. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Plenty of parking in the large, private driveway. We loved the lake view and the private beach. The only thing missing were beach towels, chairs and beach toys for kids and adults.

THe house was clean, beautiful, and big enough for my extended family to visit. The view was great. Unfortunately, there was no access to the beach from the home due to erosion. The owner was very upfront about this fact prior to renting. Nearby, the beach boardwalk was eroded away with no easy access.

We had a great time during our stay in this beautiful home! Beach is eroding in this area, but beaches were close and great! Laura is wonderful to work with!!

Making the reservation through VRBO was easy. Made final payment via VRBO, no problems. Less then week before arrival got a last minute email from owner stating that the attached rental agreement had to be signed prior to accessing the property. The sole reason for renting this property was that the listing stated and showed pictures of beach access to Lake Michigan. In bold letters in the rental agreement stated that beach access may or may NOT be available for our stay. Another line in the agreement stated that if for some reason the owner had double booked the listing they reserved the right to move us to another listing of their choosing. If we did not like the different location we were free to try, at 4 pm, to find something else for 11 people. I informed the owner that I paid a premium for a property with beach access and the rental agreement was unacceptable. Owner informed me they were having problems with VRBO listing and that beach access had been repaired and that the listing was not double booked. However I still did not receive check-in instruction. I received another modified rental agreement but by now my party was traveling and I did not have access to complete the rental agreement and still did not have check-in instructions. Owner finally provided check-in instructions without a signed rental agreement. All of this interaction made for a very stress time leading up to our stay, not know weather or not we had a place to stay. Once we gained access the property was very nice, very clean with plenty of room for my entire family. The only complaint for the actual property was the lack of WIFI which was stated in the listing as being available.
