Charming Cottage Just Behind The Historic Dorrington Hotel!

Enjoyed the cute cabin with my boyfriend for a weekend getaway. It was very cozy and we loved having coffee on the porch. It was also very nice having a restaurant and bar within walking distance. Very close to Big Trees.

Cute cottage, very clean, excellent communication from manager. Kitchenette good for small meal prep such as lite breakfast, not real cooking. More road noise than we expected, though quiet at night. I’d have appreciated a second nightstand and lamp for reading. Fireplace easy to operate and heater was a champ. Large bathroom with excellent shower. Easy drive to big trees park.

Super sweet cabin in a wonderful area. We had so much fun exploring the beautiful area. Had a great meal at the Lube Saloon next door. I would definitely recommend for a fun getaway!

But once Tami heard about it, she had us moved into the hotel in no time and made sure we were well taken care of. Super friendly, helpful onsite staff. The lube room next door is a great spot for a drink and has a good burger and wings.Close to Arnold and a short haunt to Bear Valley.

Could not have asked for a better place to ring in the New Year and the next couple days. Perfect location, comfortable bed and a great tub. We have recommended this cabin to all our friends and we will be back.

My husband I stayed here for Memorial Day weekend for our anniversary. Everything was great! Will definitely stay again.

This was perfect for us. The cabin was clean, cozy, and cute. The Lube Room has an awesome vibe and yummy food. Short and easy drive to Bear Valley for skiing. We would definitely stay here again.

We happened to go up on a weekend that a big snowstorm hit. It was magical for us watching the snow fall all around while we were cozy in a cabin for two. We loved our time there and cabin had all the amenities we needed. We brought our own food and cooked every meal. It’s a tiny kitchen only meant for one, with very basic tools, so don’t plan on being fancy. And bring your own spices and a heavy duty cutting knife since there is only table cutlery. There is a bar/eatery right next the hotel that is next to the cabin if you need to go out to eat. It was a perfect weekend for us and we would definitely go again.

We had a wonderful time at this place, definitely recommend it. The cottage is cute and cozy with a fireplace and separate heaters for the main room and the bathroom, which by the way was my favorite part; huge bathtub, lots of space, great lighting and hooks to hang towels and wet (after snow) clothes, plus a convenient laundry basket. The kitchen is tiny but efficient, used the kettle for tea to warm us up after snow play and first thing in the morning. The location is great, drove a couple of miles back to Big Trees National Park (amazing!) and a couple of miles up to a great little snow sledding park. The Lube Saloon (in the same parking lot) had great food so there’s no need to drive anywhere if you choose. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Another fun stay at the Dorrington cabin with my girlfriend. We really enjoy this little spot.

This cottage is nicely appointed, with a very comfortable bed and a roomy, full bathroom. The kitchenette is quite small, but adequate. The location is somewhat noisy, positioned on an intersection with Hwy 4, but it gets soothingly quiet at night and we slept very well and felt rested in the mornings. The only drawbacks were that the lighting was poor and comfortable chairs would be nice for reading.

Rented this cabin for a three day personal retreat and renewal and it was fantastic. Clean, neat, and Tammy and the team at the Lube were so friendly, hospitable and accommodating. Everyone called me by name - made me feel like I was a neighbor or friend! Close to everything, I was able to hike at the river, at the Rim trail, and still be able to access WiFi, etc. I would highly recommend this place for a get-away - for any reason at all! I WILL be back! Thanks for everything!

My husband and I very much enjoyed this cozy cabin with it's nice view of the fields and trees. It was very quiet and private but convenient to the restaurant and bar next to the Dorrington Hotel and Arnold is just a short drive away with other restaurants and a grocery store. Very convenient for skiing in Bear Valley also. The kitchen was small but adequate for preparing our own breakfasts and there is a small table to eat in the main bedroom area. Especially enjoyed the gas fireplace. The jets on the tub do not work however, so don't bother with trying to fill it with water to use as a spa.

We completely enjoyed this cottage. It is tiny but very satisfying for two people, a lovely retreat in the mountains.

This was a wonderful birthday getaway. Cozy little cottage next to the Dorrington Hotel. Saloon was busy but had some great bar food. Very accommodating and hospitable hosts. Definitely be back!

The Cabin: This little cabin is just steps from the Dorrington Hotel and the Lube Room Saloon. It's very cute inside and out, with a large meadow behind it that was full of snow (Jan 1st-3rd 2017). It's about 10 min past Arnold, which has everything you might need. There is a general store a few minutes up the road towards Bear Valley, which is closer than going back to Arnold. The Lube Room is awesome inside, with lots of eye catching decorations and a laid back vibe. The food and drinks were good (except the Hot Toddy). The Hotel is beautiful and historic. The cabin felt very private even though it is about 20 yards from Hwy 4. Very occasionally a truck would pass in the night, but otherwise it was really peaceful. A fireplace heater and a wall heater kept the room as warm as we needed. There is also a great big jet bathtub. Be sure to bring your own bath/hair products, as there is only bars of soap and bubble bath mix. The cabin is lightly stocked with kitchen/bath products, which was fine because for the cost that's what we expected. If you come prepared you should be totally satisfied. The kitchenette is very small but has a working stove and oven, coffee pot, etc. Area & Activities: Chains were required. We headed up to Bear Valley (30-40 min drive in the snow) and went Cross Country Skiing. Two adults with rentals and trail passes was $97. It was a blast. Neither of us had ever done this or even skied and it was super fun and we learned quickly without lessons. We finished our day with a blue intermediate run and figured out how to ski down a hill. We also rented snow shoes in Arnold and followed a 1.6 mile trail through Calaveras Big Trees State Park, which was amazing. Giant Sequoias are incredible, and seeing them in the snow is even better. Snow shoes weren't necessary, but did help. They were $12/person from Sierra Nevada Adventure Company. Overall: We think this could be a regular visit for us. The price is great and for the winter wonderland during New Years break, it was not crowded and there was very little traffic. Everyone we encountered from Arnold to Bear Valley was very nice and easy to get along with. It snowed the whole time we were there so be prepared to take extra time to clear your windshield, etc. Get some rubber palmed gloves to be able to work in the snow. Some rubbing alcohol can help quickly remove ice. Watch a video for how to install chains/cables to make it easy. Have fun!

We stayed in this little cabin for a night in December. I must say it was even nicer than the pictures show. The road noise is not bad at all and the cabin has everything you need for a weekend away. This is a must stay for us again when the time comes.

Very charming little cottage that is perfect for one or two people to get away from the city! It has the amenities you would need for a short stay (a couple of days to a week...longer than that and you might get a little claustrophobic). I loved the kitchenette and how efficient it was. The two-person jetted tub was also a favorite! The only real drawback, and it's not something the owners can do anything about, was the slight street noise. With the windows open, you could hear the larger trucks go by on Highway 4. They seem so out of place in the tranquility of the surrounding forest. I highly recommend this cabin for a romantic weekend or getaway!

This is a second time we are coming back to the cabin and absolutely love it here. It is very cozy, quite, clean and has everything for a perfect getaway. It is located in a beautiful area very close to different activities, which makes it very convenient for us to explore and do different things. We look forward to our next visit :) ! P.S would be great, if you guys can add a fire pit outside the cabin to be able to do fire and watch the stars (I know, it is a fire hazard area in the summer, but wanted to ask - just in case - if it is possible).
