About this house rental

Comfortable, private cottage situated right on the Waipu River on Cove Road. The River is great for great for swimming, kayaking and Waipu Cove is 5km further down the road. Lovely north-facing verandah is very sunny and warm. The house sleeps five - one bedroom with a queen sized bed, one bedroom with 2 x single beds and a bedrooms, and a divan bed in the upstairs lounge; and has one bathroom.

Please note that this is a typical kiwi bach whereby tenants are required to take their own linen etc and leave the house clean and tidy.

Me and my three girl friends (age 20) stayed in the cottage for one night as part of our road trip, it was very homely, clean and welcoming! Very well stocked with cooking facilities, books and tv! We had a lovely stay, would definitely recommend thanks so much!

We had a quick overnight stay had dinner at waipu cove and went to the museum at waipu. We loved the 160 year old tree in the cemetery. I think the museum gave us some context to the location and the history. Needs a few repairs to the deck to keep it safe but other than that a great kiwi Bach experience . stairs creaked a bit which freaked out my friend but overall we had fun. I’d stay again

This was a perfect little bach for us (my parents, two teens and me). Loved that we could walk straight down to the river for a swim. Close to town but away from crowds. The house could do with a bit of maintenance, but it is what it says it is - a family bach, and that is also reflected in the price. Very friendly and responsive owner. Recommend. Thanks for the stay!

We were surprised it was next to a cemetery but no problem. The jug did have 3 dead flys in it which was a bit disconcerting and a dead bird on the deck. Otherwise it was a nice old bach

An authentic bach with a relaxed vibe. Plenty of room to sit on the deck and for the kids to play on the lawn at the front. There is a large table that easily accommodate 5 people with a big couch along with 2 arm chairs and even a rocking chair. The bathroom has a bath and shower combo with a seperate toilet. There is a laundry tub and a washing machine along with a washing line. There is also a cool graveyard next door and the kids enjoyed reading the plaques and history. We would definitely stay again.

Loved this old school stay/experience. Due to delayed planes and crazy detours got in after midnight. But everything as promised and as we needed. Even v helpful neighbours with a ladder when we locked ourselves out! Found ancestors buried nearby. What more could you ask for.😊

We are in our seventies; the bed was a bit hard for us and the bath/shower was not what we are use to. However, the Bungalow is ideally suited to family with young or older teenage children, with plenty of outdoor space and activities with water nearby and easy access to both townships of Waipu and Waipu Cove. Overall we rated our stay as 3.5 out 5. The Cove Restuarant/Bar was fantastic. Thank you, Frank & Trish

Great kiwi bach in an amazing location. Loved the rustic feel of the place, comfortable and well set up. Bed was great and the outdoor decks upstairs and downstairs have super views (especially upstairs), with downstairs getting sun most of the day. Town supply meant a nice shower. Great swimming at high tide, and great for kayaking. There is a gate onto an easy slope down to a mown grassed area by the river, we even got our decent sized clinker dinghy through. House came with everything you might need (including a piano) , lots of parking outside on the flat lawn for the toys. Short drive to lovely beaches, recommend a walk to the wildlife reserve and lagoon. Interesting little town nearby with anything you might need.

Property dated. Shower needs attention did not spray was more of a hose. Musty odour on entry which dissipated when house aired out. We were only staying one night to attend a wedding so met our needs

I’m assuming not a lot has been done to the place since it was first built; but we enjoyed this aspect of it, no fancy fuss! Was clean and tidy when we arrived, and easy cleanup on departure. We had a fair few bottles and boxes left over from Christmas, but by recycling most of our stuff at the local tip down the road, they didn’t bother charging us for the remaining rubbish. A good representation of the friendly locals!Superstitious folk that are considering staying here should be aware of the cemetery to the north-east of the property. However, we found it added to the tranquility of the place with minimal neighbours and foot traffic, and a peaceful place to wander through in the evenings; Billy the neighbours dog spotted us a couple of times and came along for the walks haha! Would certainly stay here again and recommend it for the grassroots kiwi bach experience!

Great spot near estruary

This property is on the seaward side of the road and does joy a partial outlook over the estruary. It is a modest property with dated furnishings and the rent is set accordingly. To be fair to the owner she did mention the cemetery next door prior to us going, however the cemetery is not just to one side of the property but does also partially encroach on the frontal view. I don’t normally get troubled by these types of things but I was uncomfortable during my stay because of this. It’s a shame because it’s in such a beautiful location and otherwise I would definitely want to stay there again.

Great position backing onto the estuary/river, beautiful views of the sand dunes and water. Its your typical NZ bach with matching wall paper and crockery. could do with more comfortable chairs for sitting on inside and out to appreciate the views.
