About this cottage rental

LOCATION
The San Antonio RiverWalk is aglow with Christmas. Come experience this wonderland. It is truly magical. Our family-friendly private home is only four blocks from the sparkling lights and green pathways of the Riverwalk and the Alamo.
Start your morning with coffee on the front porch or enjoy a glass of wine for a relaxing evening in the backyard garden. Gated parking is included.
Other downtown area attractions includesTobin Center, The Majestic, Convention Center, Scottish Rite Building, and the Alamodome. The Pearl district (an amazing bevy of walkable stores, restaurants, and entertainment) is within a short drive. Maybe....even be brave and reserve a ghost tour.
This historic family-friendly private home includes free gated parking. Other area attractions in close proximity include the San Antonio Riverwalk, Scottish Rite Center, Tobin Center, The Majestic Theater, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Sunset Station, Hemisfair Plaza, and the Alamodome.

HISTORY
Known as the Engelmann-Muench House, this cottage was built in 1858 by Martin Engelmann, a wealthy German immigrant. The caliche block vernacular double house sits on a site which was once part of the Alamo farmlands. The structure is a good example of a once-common San Antonio house type and features original built-in end chimneys.

If you explore the neighborhood, you will find a new bar scene developing with Road Map Brewery, La Roca, Bentley's, and more. Of course, restaurants and food trucks are in close walking distance on North Alamo, Houston St and the Riverwalk. Made Ready and Idlewild Hall are our newest food/drink stops to try as well. Don't forget to sign up for a ghost tour. There are several options from which to choose....Sisters Grimm is my favorite.

We had a great time at this property. The location made it easy to walk all over downtown, which is a must have for my family. The small yard was perfect for our son to throw the football and it had ample seating if we decided to eat out back.

It's a unique place. I have rented dozens of VRBO rentals. This one is different given its history but it's a perfect place to stay if you want a few days or a week to visit San antonio. You can easily walk to virtually everything the downtown San Antonio offers to include hemisphere Plaza the Riverwalk etc. In the meantime you're staying in history. We enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings with a glass of wine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this for couples or a small family. Within a short walk there is some place to get a morning coffee that doubles as a microbrewery if you enjoy having a beer in the afternoon. ( or in the morning as they offer that also. Lol.)

My family and I will definately be staying again!! It has all the comforts of home and more!!! Stonehaus is literally close to all the River shops at downtown, four blocks from the Alamo. It is also a gated property which gives you piece of mind for safety. Adequate communication with owners, any questions I had were answersered. All in all a beautiful home and walking distance to the Riverwalk and the Alamo!!! No need to worry about downtown parking staying at Stonehaus! Thank you for the amazing hospitality!
