About this cabin rental

The cabin sits where Lakeview Creek enters Donner Lake. Listen to the babbling creek and unwind on our deck as you look out over the lake. Take a walk, or bike ride on our cruiser bikes, to the beach. The deck area is the prime entertainment spot. It's a sunny little spot. Perfect for afternoon BBQ's and entertaining. Inside the pine log walls take you back in time, but there are modern finishes. The kitchen has all new stainless appliances. The living room has a 'smart' TV with internet capability. In fact, the entire cabin has wifi, and two of the three bedrooms have TV's as well. For longer stays you will appreciate the laundry room. And there is plenty of parking 'off street'. It's a level driveway that is plowed all winter, and there's a covered walkway, so no snow shoveling to access the cabin! Soooo close to Sugar Bowl :)

PLEASE NOTE: We manage requests, so weeklong reservations take precedent over short stay requests from June 7th to Sept 15th, and from December 20th-January 3rd. Three-day reservations take precedent on holiday weekends. To keep cleaning fees reasonable, we ask guests to launder towels and linens used during their stay, and if there is a concern, they bring their own towels to lessen departure procedures. Beds DO NOT need to be made. Please inquire before your stay, and we can have the cleaner do the forementioned cleaning for an additional $70.

Cabin was charming, very clean with comfy beds. My rating went from excellent to good only because the dryer took forever to complete as we were required to wash and dry linens and towels. Other than that, it was a lovely stay.

I am in Truckee every week but wanted to stay for the weekend with my daughter. Communication with the property owner is fantastic. Home is warm and cozy. Gave us the perfect down time and downtown Truckee was about 15 minutes away. Great drive to Mountain Brew coffee at the other end of the lake in the early morning gives all the feels driving by the lake without people. If you want the easy, hide away low key rest weekend this is the place.

Our second stay here. We love walking the neighborhood and the lakeside park with Maestro. We have guests stop for dinner on the way in and out of Tahoe, and had great times with a full house. The feeling on the being on the lake beats any random cabin in Tahoe. Feels Very Private! Always happy to get to cabin sooner than fighting more traffic and the same on the way out!HIghly recommended!! 5 stars and Jim Roberts is super nice!

Great property and location. We dropped something into one of the floor vents and had to remove the vent cover. It was very dirty in the vent, perhaps time for a clean. Otherwise allgood.

The cabin was adorable and very comfortable. The pellet stove keeps it nice and warm. Everything was well laid out and explained so the cabin was super user friendly as well. And it's only a 10 min drive to Sugar Bowl! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for that perfect old school ski cabin.

We loved it. Clean, comfortable, lovely deck in the trees to watch the leaves rustle in the wind and listen to the birds. Close to both beaches at Donner Lake. It had everything we needed except a tea kettle to boil water.

Roberts Roost Cabin is equipped with everything including a canoe and bikes! As a cook, I was so pleased with all the cooking utensils, pots and pans plus. Really the only thing one needs to bring are food, clothes and toiletries. The very clean cabin is located next to a babbling water tributary into Donner Lake. Sitting on the deck listening to the water rolling over the rocks was the best for relaxing, and seeing the sunrise over Donner Lake from the deck was just wonderful. The host was responsive, accommodating and very nice. My family and I look forward to our next visit.

Really enjoyed our time at the cabin! Good WiFi available and great communication with owner. Beautiful views (you can see the lake through the trees) and easy access to the Pub and grill. Quick 10 minute drive to Sugarbowl!

The house is a very cute little cabin. Very cozy. We loved being close to Donner Lake. Yes, there were views of the lake, but they were definitely obscured. The wifi and TV/cable/streaming apps didn't work. Jim tried to reset them remotely, but we still didn't have any access. We enjoyed the house but we wouldn't have rented it if we would have known there was no wifi or TV/streaming.

We had a great time staying at this cabin with our kids. It's a great location, right by the lake but on a quiet street. It's really close to West End Beach and a short drive to Truckee. The cabin itself was clean and well appointed, and provided everything we needed. We had a great time taking our kids to go play in the snow.

My family was visiting from the UK and we wanted to spend some time in Truckee. This cabin is a very short drive (or Uber) to the old town section with restaurants and bars. We enjoyed the view of Donner Lake through the trees, and overall it was comfortable and charming. Would like to stay here again, possibly in the summer!

Disappointed overall. The 4.9 average rating is hard for me to understand. Recommend anyone interested review the 2-3 ratings because they are more accurate. Items to consider: 1. There is minimal view of the lake from the cabin (pics are deceiving) plus closet access is 1/2 mile away… not a short walk. 2. The expectation that guests wash and dry linens and towels is a real pain point. 3. Furnishings and blankets are old and worn …also not convinced they were cleaned recently. 4. No dishwasher and guests are expected to clean and put everything away. 5. Lots of clutter in cabinets, ie. ancient spices, 7 frying pans (most better suited for recycling bin), etc

Property was wonderful. Met all our needs which was basically a place to eat, sleep, shower and close to fishing. The entry level bedroom and bathroom adjoining the living room and kitchen were perfect for the altitude or stair challenged. Hope to return.
