BEST BIRD WATCHING: Enjoy daily bird migration between federally protected bird sanctuary islands to the North and federally protected wetlands to see Brown Pelicans, Pink Roseate Spoonbills, Grey Blue Herons, Great White Egrets and Sea Gulls. Kids love to throw white bread off end of pier to seagulls an hour before sunset!
OUTDOOR LIVING & THINGS TO DO: BEACH READY: 5 minute drive to beach pocket parks. Nautical has beach towels and 6 collapsible beach chairs. Board games, cards, books, assorted DVDs and croquet set.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT NAUTICAL: While Nautical is a fenced property, families with small children should know that the bay front is NOT fenced. The exterior stairwell features a security gate. $200 Security Deposit due day prior to arrival and will be refunded within 72 hours of your departure date. Rental Agreement provided upon booking. No proms or large parties (wedding, graduation or college related) permitted. We rent only to adults 26 and older. No pets on property. No smoking. Maximum sleeping occupancy is 14 persons. Kayaks and boats welcome and there are several boat ramps available in the area.

A huge thank you to the owner who could not have been more accommodating. The home is immaculate with much attention to detail. We had the most wonderful time enjoying the heavenly sunsets! The children…and adults…enjoyed designing paper airplanes and sailing them off the upper deck on to the lawn. It was quite a contest. Our 7 year old took the prize! We had a Corn Hole tournament on the lower patio and a domino tournament around the game table in the great room. We fished off the beautiful pier, went for walks and enjoyed the beautiful views. I would not hesitate to book again as it was remarkable!!

The property was just as described. Lots of room for all adults. Beds were very comfortable, everything was labeled and easy to get to/understand. We made heavy use of the fishing pier and the back patio. Spent lots of time sitting in the breeze. Great location, only a couple minutes to restaurants and beach. Host was fantastic and responsive to all questions. Absolute gem.

We had the best time here at the Nautical! They have everything you need for cooking and cleaning! The location was just wonderful and the kids had a wonderful time on the dock fishing! It’s located far enough away from the busy summer visitors but only a short drive to multiple beaches that aren’t busy at all and only a short drive to pleasure pier. The property manager was very helpful and answered any questions we had very quickly! This is a wonderful home for big family vacations! We will be going again!

Setup a stay at Nautical for Memorial Day Weekend. Great location, great property. Caught crabs and fish off the dock. Swam during the day, relaxed by night. Would recommend it to anyone!

We rent vacation homes often and I must say this was one of our favorites. The location is great, right on West Bay with little traffic. The boys enjoyed fishing from the dock. This home had every item you could ever think of needing, that's a large plus when you want a quick getaway and little stress. The home is in great condition, and we had no issues with items not available or working. The views are gorgeous, and it was just what we needed. The indoor and outdoor furniture is in great condition and there is tons of seating for everyone who stays. We will definitely be back!

This home was wonderful! The kitchen had everything that we needed to prepare meals and there was a ton of seating. The views from all decks were amazing and there were a ton of birds in the wetlands. We even caught numerous fish from the pier including many keeper black drums. This home is kept well and clean. They thought of nearly everything a family needs on vacation.

We stayed over the new year weekend. This house has everything you need. The owner is very detailed and quick to respond. The rental packet provides everything you'd need to know and expect. We rent a lot and this was by far the most impressive home. Everything is labeled so you know where to look. Rooms, bathrooms, and beds were clean and comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed the fireplace and porches. Also did some fishing and caught a few specks and reds. It's in a great location.

Joan was so great from the very beginning communications. This was my first VRBO experience and it will be hard to top her service. We had a great first few days of our trip until an unexpected storm formed on the other side of Gulf and caused a storm surge. The flooding started 4 days before the storm hit and it was no where near Galveston. Unfortunately, we had to leave 3 days early and had some difficulties exiting due to high water. Joan was so wonderful and understanding. Her concern for us and our safety was incredible. I will rent this property again and again in the future. Great location and a little piece of Heaven!!! So thankful her family has opened up their home for the rest of us to enjoy! THANK YOU, Joan!

The “Nautical” was the best vacation spot by far! We truly enjoyed our stay and the owner, Joan was very responsive to any questions or concerns and she was also thoughtful In her suggestions of things to do during our stay. The house was absolutely gorgeous from the inside out, and the view could not be beat! My family and my brother, and sister-in-law‘s family stayed in this house along with my parents. We celebrated birthdays, Father’s Day, and my parents 50th anniversary. The kitchen was set up with everything we needed to make so delicious meals. The beach is about 5 min away and the strand was 15 minutes. There was lots of fishing going on off the pier especially at night. We caught sheep head, bull reds, trouts, and even a needle nose fish. The birds, cranes, herons, pelicans were seen all over the property especially at dusk on the pier. We look forward to booking again with Joan and making this a yearly family tradition.

Everything about this home is perfect. It is the most functional open space floorplan that we have seen. My one suggestion would be for the couch in the great room to be replaced with a sleeper sofa. Beyond that, the house was well stocked and spotless. It is obvious the owners take great care and are very proud of this property. You feel like you are staying at someone's home not just a rental property. The waterside views are spectacular and the amenities provided for fishing are first class. It is located not too far away from the seawall so there's easy access to grocery stores. But still far enough away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the solitude. The whole family loved this place and we were already planning for our next trip back there!

The entire property is just beautiful, it's a dream home! It's open and relaxing with plenty of room for our kiddos to run around. There is enough room at the end of the pier for everyone to fish too! The decor inside the home is perfect and it has everything you need in the kitchen from casual dining to elegant entertaining! I loved the huge island in the kitchen too!! We watched the sunset every evening from the rocking chairs on the balcony. I can't wait to go back to this amazing retreat!

This was our third visit to Nautical and was every bit as special as our first. Four generations of family gathering by the bay to relax and watch beautiful evening sunsets. The peaceful setting Nautical provided, allowed our family the time to relax and re-connect while sitting on the deck watching the pelicans fly by. The accommodations are first class and the owner is wonderful. Nautical provided everything needed. Fishing was excellent, catching speckled trout, redfish and even a Spanish mackerel. Great place for families from our 11 year old granddaughter to my 82 year old parents. Thank you for sharing Nautical with our family.

We came in for a guy's fishing weekend and had a great time. Caught a ton of trout night fishing off the pier. The house is extremely clean and well kept, has tons of outdoor decking and incredible views. The owner is fantastic to work with and very responsive. If you want a quiet getaway home to do some angling I would highly recommend this house.

We loved this home and location! Loved the calm bay-view and short 5 min. drive to the beach! This home is beautiful, very clean and so comfortable with plenty of room for family! The bedding and towels provided are top quality as well as all of the furnishings! The detailed kitchen made it fun to prepare a great meal or cookout on the gas grill on the ground level! The porches & rockers are so nice and YES, the sunsets ARE spectacular! We enjoyed the lighted fishing pier and close by boat launch! Caught plenty of fish! The swing and hammock on the ground level was a big hit as well as the cabana showers and bathroom were very convenient and prevent sand from tracking in the house! Bay breeze was relaxing! Owner was great to work with and responded quickly to any questions we had. I would recommend this home and will plan a return trip!

We had a wonderful time staying in this house on the bay. The weather was not great and it impacted the fishing, but we still had a wonderful time. When the weather was good, the views and the sunset were beautiful! Becuase of the marsh areas on the other side of the house, you felt like you were on your own private island. The kids enjoyed trying to catch fish off of the pier and did catch a sting ray one night. Great yard and property around the house making is easy for the kids to play yard games. It was an enjoyable experience just staying in the house because it so wonderfully and tastefully decorated. Felt like you were at the beach while you were in the home. There was great cookware for cooking in the home and serving pieces were great! We had a nice time celebrating our younger son's birthday on St. Patrick's day. We would defintely try to rent this house again! The owner is very pleasant and great to work with, as well as providing great directions on how to use things in the home.

Our family came from Texas, southern Ca. and Ohio. We all gave the house a 10. Very, very comfortable and cozy! The house is decorated beautifully with a beach theme. The layout of the entire house is perfect. The bedrooms give lots of privacy, but the kitchen, great room and dining area was our favorite! Roomy and perfect for cooking and hanging out. 5 Stars from our family. The weather was cold and windy, and we had no desire to leave to site see. The guys fished and the ladies cooked (great kitchen). We played games in front of the fireplace and had a wonderful time. Nautical is a gem!

We stayed at Nautical 10/4/13-106/13 and if our son didn't have to go back to school, we definitely would have stayed longer. The house itself was in great condition. Everything was neat, clean and so well organized. They really thought of everything! Dealing with the owner was great and very helpful. She also gave me a list of what they have at the house and what we should bring. It was my son's and father's birthday and all they wanted to do for their birthdays was fish...and that they did. The private pier of the back of the house is so convenient and since it was so low, it's not scary to walk on. My son and my parents fished day and night. The fishing was great and we caught plenty of fish right off the pier! The sunrise/sunsets and view were beautiful. Can't wait to go back!
