The staff are very friendly and welcoming but after a long drive and a busy day I don’t feel like I could relax and enjo

The staff are friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.

The food finished at 7.50pm and Last orders for a drink was called at 9.30pm.

Had there not been the noise, annoying light and a window then my stay would have scored a 10!

Staff very welcoming and helpful on arrival and throughout our stay. Room was clean and stocked with yummy biscuits and tea and coffee.

There was the loud hum of what sounded like an exhaust fan running all night and no idea where it was coming from and a glow of a green light on the ceiling that kept me from sleeping. I didn’t like not having a window- felt like I was in a cell.

The room we were first allocated stunk of drains and they tried to disguise it with strong air fresheners which made it worse … but the staff were really helpful and did move us The second room was nice but you could hear the hand dryer in the pub toilets downstairs on every use .. it was noisy up until around 1230am but that’s to be expected in a pub

Perfect stay whilst away on a course.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Very comfortable and given an upgraded room too.

Vert good for a one night stop , would use again .

Room was a good size with tea / coffee making facilities . Shower was adequate . The beds were extremly comfortable .

Unfortunitly breakfast service did not start until 8.30 and we wanted to be away by 8.30 . The lady who booked us in said she could arrange sandwiches for us to take with us and the chef made us sausage and bacon sandwiches ready for our departure .

Coffee at Breakfast

We always stay at the Black Horse when we visit the area. It is always very comfortable and clean. The staff are always friendly. The menu is excellent with a good choice.

They have changed the coffee at breakfast from a Cafetiere to an urn with hot water and instant coffee. The Cafetiere was better quality and the coffee hot. We would like to see the changes back at breakfast as they were appreciated. Having said that we always enjoy our stay at the black horse and will continue to stay there. Everything else is first class. Thankyou.

There was loud noise in our room from the hand dryer being used continuously (due to a large function). Probably not normally a problem. We still loved our stay.

Very unclean. Beds need new mattresses, sunk in middle and springs stuck in you. Hole in wall the size of a fist! Many long black hairs on bedding. Stains on cushions on the bed facing forward, no effort made to hide, wipe clean or simply remove them. 3 milk cartons between 2 people. Kettle filthy so wouldn't make a drink. Carpet filthy. Could hear every noise from those using the toilet in the room next door. Several other issues so I could go on but in short it was like contractor accommodation. Absolutely would not stay again.

Lovely rooms in a popular pub. We had 3 rooms whilst attending a family event nearby and they were all excellent and were very good value. The breakfast was delicious, with generous portions! The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Comfy stay with friendly staff.

Room was a really good size. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom. Easy parking at the rear of the pub. Very friendly staff with a nice welcome. Bar area and restaurant was very buffet and we had a great breakfast cooked to order, with some nice cereal and fruit juice options to select. Was a perfect stop to attend a local wedding. Highly recommend.

Spacious bedrooms, good food, great wedding venue.

Spacious bedroom, good breakfast and venue was nice. Amazing vegan options at the buffet and vegan chocolate brownie and ice cream for dessert.

Our plug sockets didn't work in our room when we retired at midnight. Being exhausted after a long day of wedding celebrations and not being able to use the lamps, TV, charge phones or toothbrushes was inconvenient. All 3 rooms that guests were staying in were impacted by this, the next morning staff had advised it was a fuse that had tripped and prevented the rooms from having electricity supplied to all plug sockets in each room. Could have been resolved if anyone of the guests had come back down to advise staff when retiring but I guess we were all to drunk, tired or unaware that staff would have been on site still to resolve it.

A very good hotel/pub with excellent food and friendly staff

It was perfect for my requirements as close to the company we were working in the next day. Everything was of good quality and the staff were very helpful.

Just a bit close to the main road which gave a lot of noise in the evening but it die down later. The breakfast was a bit of a let down compared to the excellent evening meal the night before considering they only had instant coffee and no fruit.

Very welcoming staff - beautiful pub in a lovely area - food was great too.

The carpets could have done with a clean and the shower had no window or fan which caused some damp and mold.

Room needs some TLC, scuffs on walls and furniture. Room had one chair at dressing table section so had to sit or lie on beds which was not good. Two chairs needed.

Room was a good size although view was poor. Breakfast was great and staff were very friendly.

Good hotel in an area that is short of places to stay. Menu was typical of a regional pub/restaurant and the place seems popular with the locals. Food is genuinely home made and the burger and lasagne were very good.

Surprisingly spacious and comfortable room.

Spacious room with very welcome fan in humid conditions. Lovely desk and chair to read. Surprising space for the money and quiet night in spite of pub setting.

TV remote was missing - though I did not ask about this. I had to skip breakfast as was leaving early and found only one sachet of coffee that was not decaf - a pity as so much about the stay was good.

Good location

Good location and easy to find. Pub and restaurant downstairs. Had an evening meal there. Smooth check in. Breakfast included. Good size bed with comfortable mattress. Towels and mini toiletries provided. Small selection of tea and coffee.

The room was not cleaned properly on the changeover. Bathroom needs a deep clean. Dirty floors in both room and bathroom. Only one pillow provided.

Great village find.

A nice family feel pub, with very relaxed vibes Greeted and showed to the room upon arrival. Quiet at night and no nose from the road. Seems to have it's regular 'stayers' which is great for it's reputation. Plenty of safe parking Good menu choice and lovely beer garden. Great size rooms and large shower bathrooms Nice residential village with some country walks for a warm summer's evening.

Small little details were missed from some cobwebs in the corner, and headboards...stained or chipped mugs, and only one sachet of coffee which wasn't replenished the next day. (I am sure these would have been rectified had I asked at the desk, but only highlighting for improvements). The walls are thin, that I could hear the occupant snoring next door, but not so thin i could hear their conversation ( comes with the age of the building) None of this would effect me from staying again.
