Summary:
Casa Cerro Verde is a 6BR/6.5BA mountain villa with two private casitas, in the mountains of Alajuela, 25 min from SJO. Enjoy sweeping 200°+ Central Valley views – from Irazú Volcano to the Pacific glimmering past Nicoya on clear days – plus a heated infinity pool with hydro massage bench, sunset patios, yoga deck, A/C, Wi-Fi, gated parking, and optional private chef.
The Space:
Sip local coffee on the patio. Soak in the heated pool as the twinkling lights of the Central Valley come alive below you. We’re just 10 minutes from Doka Estate coffee tours and the new Starbucks sustainable coffee farm, 30 minutes from Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens, about 45 minutes to an hour from downtown San Jose depending on traffic, and the closest beaches are 75 minutes away.
Casa Cerro Verde features: Main House: 4 Bedrooms – 2 with a Queen bed, 1 with a Queen bed plus a Double bed and a trundle Single bed, and 1 with Bunk Beds. Each bedroom has its own Full Bathroom with Shower, plus a 1/2 bath off the Living Room.
Main area features fireplace, 64-inch flat screen, free WiFi, outdoor patio, Yoga deck, chef upon request, and tour information and reservations available. Yoga and Meditation Mats available and massage can be arranged with notice.
The kitchen has been fully remodeled with new cabinetry, countertops, and all new appliances. It’s equipped for 12, with a dining table that seats the full group comfortably, and our private chef works in it with ease when requested.
Just outside the front door are 2 independent Studio Apartments (Cabinas), built as mirror images of each other, each with its own private Full Bathroom. One features a Queen Bed and a cozy sitting area with amazing views of the twinkling city lights below. The other offers a Queen Bed plus a Double Bed with a trundle Single Bed tucked beneath it, ideal for families or small groups.
The impressive Infinity Plunge Pool allows you to soak in the cool mountain air with a hydro massage bench and have magnificent views of the Central Valley.
Guest Access:
The entire property is yours: main house, both cabinas, heated pool with hydro massage bench, and gardens. A long private drive leads to a gated entrance. Self check-in by lockbox at any hour, and we send gate and door codes with directions before you arrive. Parking is inside the gate.
The Neighborhood:
If you want privacy and seclusion, this is your dream house. The location is on a quiet street just outside the small community of Pilas. A short driveway takes you to the front gate entrance. Once the main gate is open, you enter into a world of gardens and serenity, with sweeping views over Alajuela, San José, and Heredia — essentially the entire Central Valley spread out below you. To the east, Irazú Volcano rises over the horizon, and on clear days, you can spot the Nicoya Peninsula and a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean to the west. There are no neighbors close to the house so it’s the ultimate in privacy.
Getting Around:
A Car is recommended but not required.

We visited this property for two nights as a group of 11 women working on our personal growth. The house was perfectly suited to our needs and had just the right amount of space for all of us to spend time together as a group. We enjoyed the deck and green spaces for dancing and meditation, and the common area is well suited for sitting by the fire or on the beautiful meditation cushions provided in circle. The table only seats 6 but we were able to add 5 chairs from the patio so in the end it worked. There are 4 bedrooms in the main house, each with private full baths. One of them with the bunk bed is a bit small but it works. The other has two queen beds, one with a nesting bed underneath, tight, but it works. There are two rooms with full baths apart from the main house, which have incredible views of the valley. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. Felipe was incredibly attentive and helpful, very kind.
