Within minutes from Berlin, Sugar Creek, Millersburg, and Charm, Ohio, The Chestnut Barn is located in the heart of Amish country in the quaint and historic farming town of Winesburg, Ohio. Approximately 7 miles from the bustling tourist area (Berlin), the Chestnut Barn provides a true picture of Amish life in Holmes County. Surrounded by farms and rolling hills, long walks are a wonderful experience. Although our little town does not even boast a traffic light, you will be just steps away from the Winesburg Park which has a large playground and picnic pavilion. A few steps in the other direction is our historic general store. Not only will you find a deli serving Amish meats and cheeses, our general store also has a carry out which serves a varied menu that includes the area's most popular pizza, roasted chicken, and a full service ice cream shop. Amish restaurants and shops are just a short drive in any direction.

Please be advised that even though it is quite a spacious house, it is not suitable for small children or the elderly. It is not handicap accessible. On the main (ground) floor the downstairs bedroom is one step down from the rest of the floor (not quite evident in pictures) and the shower room is also one step bellow the main level. For people using a walker or a wheelchair, we regret to inform you that unfortunately this is not an ideal property to rent.

Located In the back yard of a c.1830 (chestnut) log house, this recently transformed barn has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a giant kitchen and a great room which can be used for gatherings, seminars, or group meetings and fun get togethers.

There are numerous sites to see and Amish country life to be experienced here in Holmes county all in the vicinity of this old barn with modern comforts and furnishings.

Great space for a larger group, was awesome for our group of four. Lots of space, Lots of sitting area, very clean and well furnished. The towel bar in the upstairs master restroom was broken off of the wall and laying on the floor upon our arrival. (I'm only mentioning this to make the owner aware of the previous damage so that I do not get blamed for it! Was not a huge inconvenience for us) Parking was okay for a car or two but we were in Ford F-350 with an 18 foot trailer, so was a little tight for that size of rig but we made it work. The only real complaint that we have is the TV does not work. spent 2 hours Friday night trying to get it to work and finally gave up. Went to our furniture auction on Saturday, got back Saturday afternoon and tried again to get it to work, could not get it to work at all, messaged the host & asked for help with it through VRBO messaging service, and never received any response. Do not come to this location expecting to be able to watch ANY television. Bring a good book!!

Perfect for my 3 friends and I. Great location and plenty of room to relax.

My family probably spent at least an hour abiding by "the rules" prior to leaving. Everything from collecting all trash to making sure floors were clean (which was difficult with the falling leaves outdoors). There was no shampoo or soap in the shower/bathing area. There was some watered down liquid soap in the dispenser in one of the bathrooms. No soap at all in the other. Thank goodness there was a Dollar General nearby! On the plus side, we did have plenty of towels and bedding. The beds were hard and rooms were not handicapped accessible. I almost wiped out on the stairs, and then discovered later that there were nightlights near the extra bedding. Blinds are needed on the front door and door the kitchen. On the positive side, the rooms and kitchen were pretty. The location was centered nicely around all the activities we had planned.

The Chestnut Barn was a nice little place. Only thing that was truly a negative is that there are no blinds or curtains on the window to the front door. Otherwise, cute place.

From 8 weeks to age 70-the Chestnut Barn was perfect for our family! A great location for Amish country. Spacious and comfortable-a general store with great pizza and chicken right next door.

BEDS COULD BE MORE COMFORTABLE. CONSIDERING THAT THIS IS A RESTORED BARN, WARM SETTING. EVEN THOUGH IT IS SAID TO SLEEP 12, THE NUMBER OF TOWELS AND OTHER LINENS WOULD BE A CHALLENGE. WE ONLY HAD 8 FOR ONE NIGHT AND 7 FOR THE OTHER NIGHT AND THEY WERE GLAD THEY BROUGHT A COUPLE TOWELS OF THEIR OWN. I DID NOT GET AN EMAIL WITH THE DOOR CODE PRIOR TO GETTING THERE BUT WHEN I CALLED OWNER, HE RESPONDED WITH CODE AND APOLOGY. OVERALL, MY GIRLS HAD A GREAT TIME.
