Germana is a wonderful host, and Il Rifugio del Monaco is the perfect place to stay for a visit to the beautiful town of Cividale del Friuli. The property is located within a lovely expansive garden and is an easy walk into town across the picturesque Devils Bridge. We had a great night's sleep, and the bed was very comfortable. Germana prepared a delicious breakfast in the morning, which was the perfect end to a fabulous stay. We look forward to returning one day.

Wonderful, relaxing

It's a sanctuary, a place of serenity. Beautiful garden, tasteful interior, well located in the outskirts of Cividale. The room and bathroom was very clean and spacious. Germana is a wonderful host, very kind. Always inquired about how we spent our days, gave tips for our plans. She speaks English very well. Breakfast was delicious, filling, many options to choose from (various pastries, ham, cheese, jams, yogurt, granola, cookies, fruit plate) with a strong but smooth coffee. We hope to return someday.

Sleeping in an old monastery was a great experience! Germana, the owner was very kind, the communication was quick and easy. She told the story of the monastery and her family, and we loved listening to it! The rooms were clear, beautiful and traditional furnished and well equipped. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. This was our first but not last stay here! We highly reccommend this beautiful place! 😊

The rifugio, which is an ex monastery, is very well and thoughtfully renovated, and located a bit out of the town. We enjoyed staying in a really unique room which inspired us to think about the history of this place, their inhabitants, nuns and monks. The owner is very nice and helpful, she took time to show us the old church and explained the history of the property. Close to the monestary there is a wonderful, even mystical garden full of lavandas, rosemarin, roses and other Mediterranean plants. Also the breakfast was delicious and served in an antique dinning room. Everything was super clean. We spent wonderful time in the rifugio and if comming back to Cividale, we will definitely choose again to stay here. If you like historical places and like to try something unusual, this place is worth trying.

Flawless… you are right next to an old church in a reconstructed house. They kept the medieval atmosphere inside. The lady who runs the place is simply as nice as can be. And the breakfast was breathtaking. About 20 minut walk to the centre, calm safe place.

Rifugio del Monaco is a peaceful and beautiful place to stay on the outskirts of Cividale.

This was an exceptional stay with a kind and generous host. My partner and I were made to feel incredibly welcome and we received good advice from our generous host about what to do and where to eat in Cividale. The space is a tastefully renovated old church compound with beautiful gardens and it is full of charm and character. Breakfast was delicious.

Unique experience

This is a very unique place; an old monestary with a super passionate host. We had a lovely and abundant breakfast with the other couple that was staying there. After that, we had an extensive tour of the incredible medieval church and accompanying buildings. The room was very comfortable too, all modern amenities are there.

Incredible place, extremely nice host, great value for money. I highly recommend it to everyone!

The host was really really nice. There was a bottle of spumante and rose pedals waiting for us (it was my girlfriends birthday) and the breakfast was really nice.

The location is a little bit out of the center (we knew this) but we were able to walk there in 20 minutes which was fine.

The whole property is very beautiful and full of charme and history. While the location is a little bit outside of Cividale, you can use bikes for faster transportation. The host Germana is super helpful and caring. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was spectacular! We really liked being here :)

The most hospitable experience! We absolutely loved our stay. Our host was wonderful and full of knowledge and enthusiasm about the city and the property where she grew up. She shared many stories with us, toured us around the church on site and surrounding area, and prepared an outstanding breakfast. We felt very comfortable and the place was very clean. I can’t recommend this place enough!

We loved the warm welcome we received; the owner was extremely helpful. The breakfast was abundant, with sweet and savory things to eat. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and tastefully decorated. Great restaurant nearby (Antico Leon d'oro). Cividale is a charming old town with some very interesting museums.

You know what? you should definitely book a stay here, at least for one night :) after spending couple of nights in italian hotels before this accommodation, we thought, ok we are good to go. but after we parked, this beuatifly charming lady came to shake our hands and to greet us. then, after we walked into the house, we immediately felt, like this stay is the top of ou trip. everything is very sensitively renovated, cozy but not overthought and definitely not full of unnecessary decorations. then we walked up the round stairs to our room and bathroom. it was really nice and cozy, yet newly renovated, warm and despite it rained in the night and we were staying in an old building, we slept well and there was no humidity or cold. and the breakfast in the morning !!! culinary situation :) with perfect coffee, croissants, cheeses, frutis, homemade jams, nuts, mussli and even warm toasts. for dinner we suggest you ask the owners about this nice restaurant in town where they serve good local food, with reasonable prices and amazing ice cream dessert. we will come back soon!!!

Ho soggiornato al Rifugio del Monaco e non posso che parlarne in modo entusiasta. È un luogo davvero speciale, immerso nella natura e curato con grande attenzione in ogni dettaglio. L’atmosfera è accogliente e autentica, perfetta per chi cerca tranquillità e un po’ di pace lontano dal caos. La signora Germana è una padrona di casa eccezionale: gentile, premurosa e sempre disponibile. Si percepisce la passione e l’amore che mette in tutto ciò che fa, dal modo in cui accoglie gli ospiti alla qualità della cucina e della sistemazione. Il rifugio è pulitissimo, confortevole e dotato di tutto il necessario per un soggiorno piacevole. La colazione è abbondante e genuina, con prodotti locali e fatti in casa che rendono ogni mattina un vero piacere. Un’esperienza che consiglio sinceramente a chiunque voglia rilassarsi, mangiare bene e sentirsi come a casa. Complimenti davvero alla signora Germana per la dedizione e la cordialità: un esempio raro di ospitalità sincera e autentica.

Zimmer im ehemaligen Kloster

Wunderschönes Zimmer in einem ehemaligen Kloster aus dem 14. Jhdt. Zimmer und Frühstücksraum sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Sehr schöner Garten. Die Besitzerin hat uns eine sehr interessante Führung durch "Ihre" Kirche gegeben. Man kann sehr schön in die Altstadt spazieren.

Die Gastgeberin war sehr nett und sprach ein perfektes Englisch. Das Frühstück war gut, aber nicht abwechslungsreich. Hervorzuheben ist der täglich frisch zubereitete Obstsalat. Das Zimmer war sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet.

Wir haben in der Unterkunft ein Rundfunkgerät (Radio/Fernseher) vermisst, um so mehr, da das Licht im Zimmer nicht zum Lesen geeignet war. Das Zimmer war sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, aber leider war kein Platz für einen zweiten Stuhl.

Nagyon kedves szállásadó. Jó reggeli. Ingyenes parkolás a kertben. Még egy kultútörténeti idegenvezetést is kaptunk a szálláson található templomról. Szenzációs élmény volt!

Picit nehéz volt elsőre megtalálni. Egy kis mellékutcában van. A fürdőszoba külön volt a lakórésztől, de privát volt és csak a mi szobánkboz tartozott. Egy ilyen történelmi épületben ez benne van, de igényesen van modernizálva, amennyire a hely adottsága engedi.

Über diese Unterkunft und die Gastgeberin (das Wort Wirtin ist hier viel zu wenig) zu berichten, sprengt den Rahmen von bookin.com! Wir sind völlig unerwartet in ein über 30 Jahre hinweg von privater Hand renoviertes Kloster eingeladen worden. Wir haben 2 Nächte in einer perfekten Umgebung verbracht, in Burgzimmern geschlafen, an einer klösterlichen Tafel gefrühstückt mit persönlicher Betreuung durch die Gastgeberin und durften dort Abends mit selbst erworbenen Gerichten und Getränken dinieren und Weine der Umgebung kosten. Darüber hinaus haben wir noch eine private Führung durch das ehemalige Kloster mit Kirche und Refektorium sowie dem Garten bekommen. Betroffen von der Größe der Aufgabe und begeistert von deren Bewältigung durch unsere Gastgeber fahren wir wieder nach Hause. Wir haben bereits den nächsten Aufenthalt vereinbart!
